Made all guests feel appreciated and respected as we spent time by the pool. 5/5 stars on updates being made to give it that new and improved modernized feel; feels like a little oasis! 5/5 stars for location. It truly makes a difference when you can easily go off and explore other places nearby. Breweries, Fair, Beach, Short drive to Legoland. You name it! 5/5 ALWAYS COFFEE IN THE LOBBY. Amazing and a great start to your mornings. 5/5 for free laundry services for guests staying! This is AMAZING, but ends up in us washing our own pool towels and bath towels which can bring down the rating. 1/5 stars for not following policy of 14 and up for jacuzzi. They allow the jacuzzi to be packed with littles and parents but are strict about other issues aka music playing when multiple people bring out their speakers to play their own music and have a good time. 1/5 stars for the passive aggressive highlighting on notices that are slipped under hotel doors when there is a complaint or a concern. We want to enjoy a vacation, but instead have to worry about what not to do instead of relaxing freely. From how to dispose of dirty bath towels, trash, to no late check out, I feel like some policies need to be changed and revisited. read more

Off to the races!?! This might be exactly what you need. It's like a little oasis right at the tail end of Solana Beach and the Thoroughbred edge of Del Mar! As with many resorts there are pro's and cons. Pros: * It's an intimate resort thats so close to things you can walk to them if you're up to it. * spacious rooms. Varying from studio to two bedroom units * kitchenettes to full size kitchens * heated pool, jacuzzi and a dry sauna *rec room * very family friendly * good coffee provided up till 11am * plenty of parking * silver rating with RCI * firm beds (as I prefer) * property has a facelift and several upgrades. * great restaurants within walking distance Cons: * several RCI Reservation issues prior & upon checking in. They had no reservations showing up with our confirmation number nor with our names. Arrived on time but didn't get into our room till after 5pm. *widow spiders and ants...we put cinnamon infused pine cones around the unit and patio to help deter them. We both had to use our after bug bite balm (bring essential oils and that in your travel bag) I showed my bug welt to the manager. * some damage to old appliances and could've been cleaned up better in between guests. * both units were stayed in had the same issues. * not a lot of ADA features here albeit they to have some. Ie elevator, bars to aid for shower entry. Believe they have some shower seats if needed. Ask the desk for that. I already have my next stay booked! I'm going to have a surgery soon so I will have a nice recovery stay (away from my dog) here. As long as there is no more RCI and check in issues all should be great. Becky and Noah attended to our needs as best as they could. Days later I'm still trying to communicate with the RCI care team to get further help with all the glitches and problems that arose and that took time away from enjoying this place with its full glory! They have regular resort bookings online too. Where the surf meets the turf! It's where it's at! We truly enjoyed our mini staycation here regardless of some of the hiccups that we experienced. read more

We had a prolonged stay at the Winners Circle this month after staying for a few days back in October. This is cute small resort near the Del Mar Racetrack and it is close to good restaurants, retailers, grocery stores, and other attractions. We appreciate that it some nice amenities like full kitchen, free washer and dryer service, heated pool, sauna, rec room, and grill patio area with fire pits. Coffee is free from 6AM-11AM. The resort gronds are kept clean and for the most part is pretty quiet. We did encounter one party which made the patio/pool area their own backyard for a couple of days with loud music and a lot of commotion, but other than that things we're pretty chill. Service is very hit or miss. We've had issues during both of our check-ins where our reservation details was not readily available. House cleaning could also benefit from some improvements. We stayed in multiple rooms on both of our visits and each room lacked on cleanliness from grimme and crumbs in fridge doors and interior, to dusty surfaces, to finding hairs in the freezer. One front desk agent goes above and beyond to meet our needs. Noah M was always very attentive, calm, and willing to work with our reservation requests and needs. I'm not sure of our experiences would have been as good without his help. We're likely to return for another stay at Winners Circle and definitely recommend. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: A good deal right by the Del Mar fairgrounds. We got a big whiff of horse manure when we first got there, which made us nervous, but it dissipated and we didn't notice it the rest of out stay. Maybe we just got used to it, but it wasn't a problem. Our room was great; a true one bedroom with TWO bathrooms--what a luxury. The lobby building, pool area, and some of the guest room buildings had undergone a nice renovation. We were in the area that had not yet been renovated, but it was fine. The kitchen was nicely equipped with a full size microwave and fridge, but a mini range and dishwasher, which worked just fine. We did spot a few ants when we first got there but they didn't bother us the rest of our stay. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, as well as the fire pit areas by the pool. The fire pits turn on automatically in the evenings; get there early, though, as seats go fast. We encountered a lot of regulars; some have timeshares and have been coming for decades! It's conveniently located, well-equipped, and reasonably priced--understandable! The staff was also very nice. read more

My family and I came to this resort for the night and we had other family members that had rooms there as well. They definitely remodeled and did some upgrades which is real nice. I noticed the pool area had restrooms, plenty of tables, bbq spot and also a fire pit. Rooms were nice and clean and I love that they all have kitchen with the stove, sink and refrigerators. The one thing I didn't like about this place was the lady working at the front desk she was rude and not polite. We were all hangout by the pool and she told us we can't play music even though it was not loud it was at a reasonable level and it was appropriate music. The front desk lady gave us a piece of paper high light with rules. So we were just like whatever we will turn it off. Then we noticed around 8pm some people came out to the pool and were playing music and not once did she come out to tell them something. I feel that if you tell one guest something the rules should go for everyone. We didn't mind at least it was nice we had some kind of music. I just feel that she should be friendly and respectful to her guest, I mean she came out to the pool area like 4 or 5 times to make sure we didn't have music playing and we didn't. Also you have to understand that we paid to stay and the rooms were not cheap and we had at least 8 family stay here. So maybe retrain your front desk lady to do her job right. She is the one with black hair and tattoo on her arm. read more

I stay at Winner's circle as a mini 24 hour escape mini vaca. I own my home, it's 30 Minutes away. It has become my stress relief gift to myself. I enjoy the quiet, privacy & location to some of my favorite spots in the area. "It's a getaway that resets my energy."Everyone is kind & helpful. Ok motel, but the staff was not helpful. Had to wait a long time to check in because no one was at the desk. Left my expensive sunglasses in the room, called literally the next day and they claimed they couldn't find them. Pretty sure they just kept them. Never staying here again. read more

The location is terrific! The rooms are very dated. They were ants everywhere that we could not get rid of.

I've stayed here a couple times as it is very conveniently located. Rooms are spacious, grounds are beautiful, plenty of parking, and service has always been wonderful. Each stay was only 1 night, but both times I left saying an extra night to enjoy the amenities would be nice. I see more visits to this hotel are the area in my future. I like the hotel overall, the outside pool area was really nice with barbecue and fire pits which is great. Room was clean and came with an equipped kitchen. But the girl at the front desk was pretty rude and dry, it also looked like she had just woken up. Nothing worse than being greeted at a place you're staying at with someone that's giving you the vibe that she does not want to be there. She gave no rundown of the property and what's included, didn't even give the classic "enjoy your stay". She just wanted to stop talking to me as quickly as possible. If you like staying in your grandma's spare bedroom, this is the place for you. This "resort" is begging for a major face lift. Thank goodness I brought slippers to walk around in the "suite". We have stayed @ WCR in the past for weeks at a time and always enjoyed it-- with no issues, the staff was always extemely helpful and welcoming. When we decided to return this weekend we could not reach the hotel after several calls without a response , frustrated we went elsewhere to book. Our arrival time was set for 4PM ,however the 405 caused a later arrival so again, tried over an over to call to let the hotel know we were running late nobody answered. We arrived @ 5PM, We were then greeted by a mean looking girl at the front desk. I said we wanted a VERY QUIET ROOM, if possible She began over an over saying all the rooms face out, she scribbled on a sheet ( map) which I could not really understand. Once she found a room, it faced the pool and activities center. Not quiet. I asked again if there was anything else. This was our first vacation in several years and we wanted a quiet room. Suddenly, she was able to find a room but we would have to each ( we split the bill) pay an additional $35.( $70 total) . She never once smiled , I asked her name and if there was new management we had not visited there since @2021- PILAR , she never once offered any assistance , we are Seniors etc. It was pitch dark and our new room was way on the other side of the building !!! Once we parked had to walk back to the front desk and one of the nicer staff walked me back to where it was located. The room was great however once inside it was REALLY cold. I turned on the heat but only cold air. We were exhausted but slept in our clothes to keep warm. The next morning called and they sent MARTINE- he was a gem. He had to replace a brand new heater and came back several times to check to ensure it was working properly! He should be commended. Went above and beyond. One more thing, We have travelled quite a bit , across the country staying at dozens of hotels and NEVER have been spoken to or greeted like we were at this hotel. We like this hotel but when I returned our keys to let them know we had checked out- PILAR asked if there was anything left in the room???? read more

This is the second time I've stayed at this resort. I really like the feel of the place. Since I was here the last time, they remodeled the pool area. It is really nice with unique lighting, fire pits, several stainless grills, heated pool and hot tub, plenty of seating including tables for outdoor dining. They did a great job. It's in a great location across Del Mar horse track, lots of stores and restaurants nearby and right down the street from my favorite place....Dog Beach! The room we stayed in was roomy with a small kitchen, large bedroom/bathroom, second separate bathroom, lounging area with television and a large patio. Room was very clean. Service was accommodating and friendly. I can't wait to come back and stay again. Great area for running, walking and cycling. Book a room and enjoy your stay! read more

What a lovely resort! As soon as you enter your room you can appreciate the attention to detail. The furnishings are solid construction and the history of the place is wonderful. Old Hollywood stayed here (Fred Astaire, Clark Gable, etc.). Stylish photographs of Hollywood stars are displayed throughout the resort along with vibrant action shots of jockeys on racing horses, contributing to the elegant decor. New management has updated everything. The rooms are equipped with a small modern kitchen. The bed is heavenly and all the linens are fresh and fluffy. The resort is perfect for either a romantic getaway or a family reunion. I stayed here for five days and I am ready to go back. read more

If you're looking for anything fancy, this really isn't the place. It has a stuck in time vibe from a couple decades ago. However, our stay was pleasant and our room was completely clean and comfortable. We had a very large full apartment style suite with a full kitchen. Everything in the kitchen was clean and functional. Our bed was comfy and we slept well. We were only there for a day and night, as we were there for a concert in downtown Solana Beach. We had a couple drinks on our very large enclosed patio area and walked down the street to our event. It was well-located and perfectly served our purpose for the visit. Even better if you're headed to the Fair Grounds or race track. The staff at check in was friendly and quick. The pool area was pretty cool with some comfy fire pit areas to enjoy. Overall, clean place, decent staff, easy parking. Would definitely stay again if in the area for something else. read more

Can I just say WOW! From the room, both floors of our 2 room suite, to the amenities, to the service in the steak house and the drinks and dancing afterwards. What a great experience. My guy and I brought our daughter and son in law to the resort spontaneously and had one of the greatest experiences. We can't wait to bring our other kids back with us. Everyone was so helpful to get us into the steakhouse for late night steak and lobster. (I ended up having a pot pie, that was delicious and reminded me of grandma's home cooking.) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The king suite was well appointed with 2 bathrooms, a small vanity and full sized mirror, a living area, and dual balcony. We were pleasantly surprised with the fully equipped kitchenette. The space appeared clean and had everything we needed (including ironing board and hair dryer). The jacuzzi was a nice treat after my son's all day tournament and also the pool table in the club house was perfect for friendly competition. I would definitely consider for future family events - with several bbq grills, a ping pong table, swimming pool, two fire pits, sauna, and laundry facilities. Really impressed with the ADA accessibility too (lifts at jacuzzi and swimming pool). Also morning coffee and tea in the lobby available from 6a-11a. Location was great - with markets, restaurants, beach, and freeway nearby. Noah welcomed us and checked us in - his customer service was top notch! Such an incredible establishment! My husband and I come to Del Mar for opening day at the races every year and we think this will be our new stomping ground! The staff were all very friendly. Clean, well stocked rooms with a full kitchen (perfect since we had a 17 month old with us). We had a great room on the ground level with a pool view and easy access to the pool. The 1 foot kiddie pool was a surprise when we arrived and we were so happy about it! It was perfect for our son! It's also close to several restaurants and shops and a Whole Foods. We also enjoyed time at A nice family beach near by. My only suggestions would be to put child locks on the kitchen cabinets and a lock on the little gate to get to the pool from the private patio. Restaurants are outside of the resort area; and a short distance to the sea coast where parking is not very accessible. The resort was conveniently located, clean and we found it to be enjoyable. My friend and I stayed here last night for one night! It was pretty great for the price. The kitchen are had a full size fridge and all the utensils you could need! The bed was comfy. We would definitely stay here again! There was a pool and jacuzzi as well. The fish house restaurant is just in the next parking lot over. Was charged $50 for not putting dishes in the dishwasher, just disappointed the welcoming staff didn't mention this and that there wasn't a flyer next to the sink. Unfortunately, this experience made me reevaluate the customer service we received and friendliness of the staff as there is absolutely room for improvement here. read more

The lobby looks nice and clean, then I get to my room and my room is pretty big, they have a stove, toaster, refrigerator and blender which was really cool to have. I did not like the old coffee maker though. The tv's are not great the remotes don't function that well and it gets very frustrating. Nice paintings and mirrors on the walls and a nice little balcony. It's a decent place but even with the renovations it still feels dated. The bed was not comfortable, I woke up with a sore back and didn't get much sleep due to it. For that reason I will not be returning. If you can't sleep well at a hotel what's the point in staying there? read more

Booked with RCI: Pros: We stayed in a 2 bedroom with a living room and full kitchen. It was well equipped in the kitchen. Room 250 We had view of the pool and court yard on the second story. Close to beach access, about 1 mile easy walk. Check in/out was easy. Lots of free parking Cons: beds are hard as a rock and the pillows are mush. Very dated rooms. (It looked like maybe some of the other buildings might have been updated) The art, sofa/love, dining room table all needs to be replaced. Could not use the court yard, due to covid, not even the BBQs! Tips: ask for ground room with one of the corner patios if you have kids. Make sure you have them bring up extra toiletries including TP right away. Not having access to any of the court yard was outrageous. ( even with Covid happening and the state starting to reopen) Close off every other BBQ and picnic table. Make sure the lounge chairs are 6 ft apart and monitor the area . The hotel was not even half booked you could have easily let the guest use the area. Will be back to Solana Beach but will find another place to stay! read more

I was very excited to stay here overnight and relax/sleep in after working for two weeks straight. I was a little nervous bc the property is easily accessible to anyone, you can walk from the parking lot right into the buildings as there are no locks, just on the rooms, and my room was the first as one enters the unlocked building. None of that mattered at the end, though, because what attacked was ANTS. All night I felt like things were crawling on me but I thought I was imagining it, and finally when it got light I found there were ANTS everywhere in the bed!!! When I went to the front desk she could NOT have cared less, just said "okay, what do you want us to do?" I was clearly distressed and she didn't once acknowledge the inconvenience or show any empathy whatsoever and only offered for maintenance to come spray (which they can't do when you're in the room so I'd have to just leave. She said it's a daily problem. I will definitely not be going back and will warn others who value service and want a good night's sleep. read more

This has been our favorite resort ever. Clean and quaint. Staff is excellent and friendly. The manager on duty was so incredibly kind. I love the rooms with your porch that leads right to the pool and hot tub. We will be making visits to Del Ray more often and always staying in this resort. What a beautiful resort! They have wonderful hours for all the amenities. I had a reservation issue that was caused by hotels.com and they fixed it immediately. The night desk staff just got me into my room since it was late, and told me he would take care of it and he did. I had a studio and it was lovely. It looked freshly remodeled, nice little kitchen. Everything I needed to comfortably cook, was available. Plenty of cleaning supplies for the kitchen. Granite in the kitchen and bathroom. The towels are large and plush. I really liked that. Very clean, also. The only downside was a slight musty scent. It wasn't overwhelming so I'll be back. read more

This review is strictly on pool area cleanliness. Earlier today a young man from the housekeeping staff cleaned the tables at the pool where people had left. I've never seen such attention to cleaning during this time of COVID, especially in an outdoor setting. Overall, this resort is amazingly clean. It was disappointing that the gym was closed for renovations and the sauna and hot tub were closed due to COVID. read more

The one thing that I really liked about this place is that the rooms are impeccably clean. Everything is in perfect conditions from the bed to the carpet bathrooms furniture. Everything is spotless I got a room with a full living room and two full bathrooms. A lot more space than what I needed. The central heater in the room also works very well and is not too loud. There is also a Whole Foods within walking distance just on the other side of the freeway There seems to be construction going on in the pool area at the moment. read more

It's really small the rooms compared to what I'm used to. The place has this humid feel in the air. I don't like the aesthetic needs to remodel. I swear the oven and dish washer is half of what the size is supposed to be. The feeling makes it sad especially the lightning pls get new lighting fixtures.
