I stay at Winner's circle as a mini 24 hour escape mini vaca. I own my home, it's 30 Minutes away. It has become my stress relief gift to myself. I enjoy the quiet, privacy & location to some of my favorite spots in the area. "It's a getaway that resets my energy."Everyone is kind & helpful. I plan to come back once every couple months as my 24 hr reset. The vibe is perfect. Thank you Winners Circle! You are a hidden gem.

I've stayed here a couple times as it is very conveniently located. Rooms are spacious, grounds are beautiful, plenty of parking, and service has always been wonderful. Each stay was only 1 night, but both times I left saying an extra night to enjoy the amenities would be nice. I see more visits to this hotel are the area in my future. Truly a great nights stay!

Can I just say WOW! From the room, both floors of our 2 room suite, to the amenities, to the service in the steak house and the drinks and dancing afterwards. What a great experience. My guy and I brought our daughter and son in law to the resort spontaneously and had one of the greatest experiences. We can't wait to bring our other kids back with us. Everyone was so helpful to get us into the steakhouse for late night steak and lobster. (I ended up having a pot pie, that was delicious and reminded me of grandma's home cooking.) Thank you for the recommendations of things to do. Just superb!

Such an incredible establishment! My husband and I come to Del Mar for opening day at the races every year and we think this will be our new stomping ground! The staff were all very friendly. Clean, well stocked rooms with a full kitchen (perfect since we had a 17 month old with us). We had a great room on the ground level with a pool view and easy access to the pool. The 1 foot kiddie pool was a surprise when we arrived and we were so happy about it! It was perfect for our son! It's also close to several restaurants and shops and a Whole Foods. We also enjoyed time at A nice family beach near by. My only suggestions would be to put child locks on the kitchen cabinets and a lock on the little gate to get to the pool from the private patio. Other wise this was a perfect vacation!

Great service. The new construction is beautiful. Fun location. It's nice without being so fancy it's annoying and no fun.

The location is terrific! The rooms are very dated. They were ants everywhere that we could not get rid of.

Good afternoon. Where are smoking areas located?

There was an ash tray on the table on my patio

What kind of coffee maker do they have in the rooms? Keurig or ground?

Hello Jenny, We use drip coffee makers and provide complimentary Starbucks. You are welcomed to bring your own ground coffee.

This is for the Spa…read more.. The spa opens at 7 AM and there I was. I came in through the gates of the gated community and parked in the self parking lot at the spa. Waited in front for five minutes and the doors opened! I felt like putting my face against the window while I waited and say, "open, open, open". I was greeted by a lovely young woman who checked me in and walked me around the grounds to show me around. As I came so early, I had the place to myself for the first two hours. I used the gym, took a swim, went in a couple of Jacuzzis until my girlfriends arrived at 9:30 AM. I'm more of an introvert, so it was perfect. Altogether, we took a yoga class at the beautiful yoga pavilion. We sat by the pool and had a lovely lunch. The food was excellent, including the complementary treats and banana bread. The only negative about the pool was that we were told if we left for more than 20 minutes our belongings would be removed. We couldn't hold our chairs for the day. That was news to us. It was a warm 90° day on a Friday in March and the community and hotel is allowed to use the spa grounds and they all showed up. Every lounge chair was full. Note to self: come Monday through Thursday. The massage: I'm going to say it's one of the best massages I've ever had in my life (and I've been to other five star spas). Pure bliss. Jackie was my masseuse. She listened to me when I asked for stronger pressure and then from there, I went into another world of goodness. She had such love in her eyes when it was all done. This is the most expensive massage I've ever had in my life. Around $400 for a 60 minute massage (with tax and tip) not including lunch. But treating ourselves once in a while is worth it. We felt like we were princesses. Yes, we'll be back. Maybe a while from now to save up our pennies, but we will be back.

Beautiful Grounds, But Not the Five-Star Experience I Expected…read moreI visited Rancho Valencia on my birthday expecting a true five-star experience, and while there were genuinely lovely moments, the overall visit fell short of what a resort at this level should deliver. A few things worth knowing before you book: they do not offer a day pass. Access to the resort is granted by booking a service through their spa, which is fine in principle. What's not fine is their pricing transparency. The rates listed on their website are not what you'll actually pay. Pricing changes based on demand, time of day, and availability. I received two different booking confirmations for the same treatment at two different prices, neither of which matched what was on their site. When I asked at check-in, they explained their dynamic pricing model casually, as if it were common knowledge. It isn't, and it should be disclosed at the time of scheduling. No one mentioned it when I called to book. The check-in staff was cordial, but the energy made it clear they were sizing me up. It was subtle and perhaps unintentional, but noticeable enough to color the start of my day. The property itself is genuinely beautiful. Lush grounds, a cold plunge, multiple pools, and access to yoga and fitness classes throughout the day. The yoga class I attended was listed as intermediate to moderate, but the instructor, who normally teaches the advanced class, ran it at a moderate to advanced pace. I was the only person in the room at the intermediate level and spent more of the class struggling than unwinding. The food and beverage program is what you'd expect at a resort of this caliber. When I booked my massage, I specifically requested champagne for my birthday. It was noted. It was never offered, not before my treatment, not during, and not after. That kind of detail is exactly what separates a five-star experience from a four-star one, and it was simply forgotten. My massage therapist was outstanding. She was thorough, skilled, and clearly excellent at her craft. She identified tension I didn't even know I was carrying and worked through it with real intention. She was the highlight of the day without question. Rancho Valencia is a stunning property that has the bones of an exceptional experience. But the lack of pricing transparency, the inconsistent service details, and the atmosphere at check-in kept it from living up to its reputation. I'm not sure I'd return.

Hopefully the things i noticed were a one off or deferred maintenance that just needs to be caught up. I came here to celebrate my birthday and I really wanted to love my stay. At first glance, the property is stunning. The room decor is charming, the staff was very nice, and we had a great meal at Mustangs & Burros (the Brussels sprouts were delicious). However, once we settled in, the lack of attention to detail became impossible to ignore--especially since I was staying with a broken ankle. The room cleanliness was disappointing for this price point. I found hair and grime on the coffee maker tray, hair on the floor tiles, and air vents covered in thick dust. The bathroom walls even had visible stains that hadn't been wiped down. The carpet was dirty when I got there. For a 4 star hotel I expected more. On top of that, maintenance issues made the stay difficult. The ice maker was broken , and the outdoor lighting at the exit and on the pathways around the property wasn't working. Navigating the property in the dark with crutches was very tricky, and seeing rusty screws sticking up out of the deck felt like a genuine safety oversight. It's a shame because the atmosphere is great, but the housekeeping and maintenance really need to step it up.

We came to stay over our son's spring break this year. The grounds are nice and extremely large!…read moreUnfortunately, for me, that's where it ends... our room was situated at the far end of the resort, on the golf course. Golf course maintenance crews are up and at it, around 6:30 in the morning(!!). Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep and, when asked to change rooms, they were booked and had nothing available for us. As for dining... "room service" is a joke where you order online, get charged $40 for them to bring it to your room and, it's cold by the time it gets there. We had Easter brunch at Vue which was just ok. I got the eggs Benedict which, when cut open, revealed clear runoff of barely cooked egg - instantly made my hunger disappear. My husband's breakfast, the chorizo scramble, and son's breakfast, pancakes, were totally fine and edible. For the amount of money it is to stay here, I think it's 1000% overrated and we'll skip it next time we're in SD, for sure. There's really no need to come here.

I called the next day and was told the resort was overbooked. The solution? Ship me to Sea Wave Resort, which is a downgrade. Apparently, "sister resort" now means lower standards, same disappointment. I asked to be moved to L'Auberge--you know, the place they're affiliated with and even do check-ins for. Suddenly, I'm told they're "not the same company." Interesting, since L'Auberge magically had availability that weekend. Guess problem-solving was sold out too. RCI confirmed that overbooking is not an approved reason to relocate guests. Andrew Faiella, the GM, was about as helpful as the last-minute email. RCI confirmed they were not notified by Villa L'Auberge also on this matter. This mess completely deflated what was supposed to be a special weekend and took about 90 mins of my work morning to figure out. BEWARE if booking this place. You might book one resort and end up at Sea Wave Resort down the street instead--surprise included, consent not required. Hope getting a refund is a breeze. I understand mistakes happen but this is taking too much of my time to deal with and it's THEIR mistake.

I usually always book hotels directly, but took a chance and advantage of a Travel Zoo offer. I worried that perhaps we would get a subpar room since we did not book directly. Quite the opposite. Terranea reaches out in advance via email for any preferences etc. We were booked for a king ocean view room and I asked for an upper floor if possible. The parking valet was very friendly and explained we had to valet when staying at the hotel. They do have a daily valet and resort fee. Our check-in was easy. We were given a top floor in our building with a great view of the ocean and Vista Pool. The room and bathroom were so clean. The furniture in the room and on the patio were stylish and comfortable. The bed was a bit soft for us but we did fine for three nights. I will post pictures of the room and view. I did have to call down to the front desk as our bags were not delivered, but they immediately brought them up to us. I have given reviews for Bashi and Nelson's (loved them both). I made all our dinner reservations the week before arriving knowing we could cancel them if we wanted to do something else. We did not eat at the Catalina Kitchen, but all of our room service food and pool food was prepared by Catalina Kitchen. All of those meals were fresh, flavorful and well presented. I have included pictures. Room service and housekeeping services were great. Everyone was over the top friendly and welcoming. We also booked a golf lesson which was amazing and I wrote a review for the Links. We did not use the spa on this trip. We have booked the spa for treatments and day visits in the past. After dinner, we went to the Lobby Lounge for live music and drinks. The male bartender was probably the only negative interaction I had from the many many resort staff members I interacted with. He also appeared not to get along well with the lounge servers. Not sure what that was about. In any case, the live music was very enjoyable and the lobby lounge is very comfortable. We met some nice people during our stay. We will most definitely be back!

Family Logistics: My wife headed to the spa for some downtime while I took the kids to the pool, which worked out perfectly for everyone. Dining: We had dinner at catalina kitchen where I had a really good steak. Service: The staff was very pleasant, and everyone we encountered was nice. Room Accommodations: I'm rating this 4 stars instead of 5 due to the room layout. We booked for four people, but the initial room was so tiny that it couldn't comfortably fit all of us without one child sharing our bed. I ended up spending more money and upgrading to a suite to ensure we all had enough space and comfort. Comparison to Past Stays: I booked this same promotion a year ago and the room was much larger and easily slept two adults and two kids. I'm not sure what changed with the room assignments this time around, but the upgrade was necessary for our comfort. It did cost us extra $$. Overall, it was still a great way to treat my wife to a surprise while we all had some staycation fun.
