It smells so GOOD in the lobby!!

From the moment you pull up to Auberge Del Mar it's an amazing and magical experience. The valet parking is $10 for two hours and overnight parking is not exorbitant. They take very good care of your car and they are very efficient when you need it back. The resort is spectacular! I don't know how I haven't been here before but I'm coming back every week! I love the sweeping ocean views and the beautiful and inviting lobby. The bar is happening and very lively! The employees are very well trained and interactive. I really enjoyed my afternoon here yesterday and I can't wait to come back!

Beautiful setting, Good service and food was delicious. They accommodated my friends dog with water and they had a treat. Place is peaceful and nice to look out to the ocean. Fries were plentiful and salad was fresh. Will be back.

L'Auberge is French and means lodge or inn. L'Auberge Del Mar is a small hotel north of San Diego in the city of Del Mar, with beach views and offers many amenities. Over two decades ago, I stayed at L'Auberge in Sedona Arizona and had an excellent experience; surrounded by red rock canyon, nestled next to a running stream, and the menu offered french country cuisine. Because of such a wonderful experience, I hoped a stay here at L'Auberge Del Mar would be Trés Bien... This hotel is not grand, small pool but the pool lounge, lobby lounge, restaurant and spa were above average. Our suite had all the necessities for a comfortable stay including balcony with ocean views and very dog friendly; my pup felt at ease. Would have preferred a larger pool, unobstructed ocean views and direct beach access. Service from the entire staff was excellent, all very cordial and helpful. After a couple weeks in Paris for a work/pleasure vacation, we were exhausted and needed another vacation to decompress, relax from feeling jet lag. L'Auberge was just the right place, it's far away enough from the city of San Diego, across from the beach, and it's French flair was perfect to ease back from a French vacation into our SoCal life. Great venue near the water, the outdoor seating has some warmth, had lunch today menu was very diverse. Food was excellent so was the service.

My girlfriend who lives in Vista planned a girls night for us here. It's a really cute Hotel bar overlooking the ocean. They had live music last night and have live music on the weekends as well. It's really perfect casual, yet elegant spot for drinks in Del Mar. It's also dog friendly! Vallet is $7 for the first 2 hours. Quiet enough where you can hear each other speak but feels alive and social as well.

From the moment we arrived, the level of service at this hotel far exceeded our expectations. We were visiting to celebrate the babymoon we never had the chance to take and this stay turned out to be exactly what we needed as a family. A huge thank you to the valet team, especially Michael and Sean, who honestly made the entire experience unforgettable. They not only remembered our names, but also greeted our two kids by name every single time they saw us. That kind of personalized attention was so heartwarming and rare. Doug, the beach valet went above and beyond. He was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, giving us great local recommendations and helping us get set up at the beach, no small feat considering how much gear we were juggling with the kids in tow. The front desk staff handled everything with a sense of urgency and genuine kindness, which made check-in and any requests throughout our stay feel smooth and stress-free. Our room was spotless, and the housekeeping team was just as impressive, even tracking down a pair of scissors for us right away without hesitation. The restaurant staff were friendly and warm, and room service was excellent and prompt (a blessing with kids!). I have to say we are foodies and surprisingly enjoyed our breakfast from the hotel more than we did any of the local hotspots. Not sure if it's true or not but the chilaquiles are supposedly a family recipe from the chef and I believe it, they are that good. Also, order the acai bowl- it's only on the pool menu but you can order it at Adelaide for breakfast- so yummy! The concierge team added a special touch to our stay, making us feel celebrated in a meaningful way. We were also thrilled to be able to extend our stay one more night, even though that extra night wasn't available during booking. It felt like the entire team worked together to make it happen. Our stay was truly memorable, and we genuinely loved everything about it.  If I could offer any suggestions for improvement, it would be regarding the water situation. There were no complimentary bottled waters in the room only mini bar options for purchase ($9). The front desk had warm Dasani bottles available, while the hotel's outlets sold Evian. For a hotel of this caliber and price point, providing better quality, complimentary water (even just two bottles per day) would be expected. The children's scavenger hunt was a fun idea, but the prize trunk was completely empty. Our child was kindly offered an Oreo cookie instead, but that's not something we include in our family's diet, so he was understandably disappointed. A restocked prize selection or alternate keepsake reward would go a long way in making the experience special for young guests. The bathroom amenities also felt underwhelming. The scent provided was coconut mango, but the products themselves did not feel like high quality and almost seemed like an afterthought compared to all the other things. The pool was not heated, which meant we were unable to swim because of how cold it was. This was especially disappointing for our family, as the pool is often a big part of a vacation experience. Another note is that the room does not include a traditional fridge. There is a stocked mini bar, but we were instructed by the front desk to remove all of the items if we wished to use it as a fridge and then restock everything before checkout to avoid charges. For families, having a proper fridge would make a big difference. Lastly, don't expect a scenic view from most rooms. Much of the hotel is positioned behind condos, so the outlook is quite limited.

First time here and had an amazing New Years! I loved the different couch areas for relaxing and mingling, large bar, and outside was stunning. The outside area overlooked the waterfall, pool, and had ocean views. I hear they offer a great brunch so I'll be back to try that too.

BED BUG NIGHTMARE--AND THEY GHOSTED US! We stayed here over the holidays, expecting a relaxing getaway--what we got was a horror show. After one night, we returned to what we thought was a clean room, only to find BED BUGS crawling around! I was bitten, and we immediately reported it to the front desk with photo evidence. They promised to switch our room and directed us to insurance claims. Then came the excuses. Their exterminator's report was "inconclusive," but they assured us insurance would still help. Spoiler alert: They ghosted us. We have clear photos and videos proving these were bed bugs--confirmed by our own exterminator. The infestation alone is disgusting, but the way this so-called "resort" completely ignored us is beyond unacceptable. STAY AWAY unless you want to bring home more than just souvenirs!

Disappointing. We booked through the AMEX Fine Hotel program which we have used for The Loden (Vancouver) and The Wynn LV. Those were great stays at fantastic properties. This wasn't. Pros- Friendly welcoming service. The valets were especially nice. Front desk cordial offering waters, champagne, and chocolate. The ladies at the hotel coffee shop, Lyric, were great. The town around it is fun to explore with some cool boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Short walk to the coast. Cons-Room was a disappointment. I expected a more decorated room and I've been in rooms where you just stop and go "Whoa!" This wasn't one of them. The bathroom was cursed. Literally a few minutes into our entrance my daughter found herself stuck inside because there was apparently a screw sticking out of the door wedging itself into the frame. I didn't want to force it open and cause major damage so we had to call engineering. The toilet the next day got clogged. Poor engineer guy must have had his hands full around the compound because it took almost half an hour for him to arrive. There was no signal to the tv. Foot traffic from room above was quite audible. I will comment about the hotel restaurant in a separate review but that would fall under the negative section here as well. Wouldn't recommend.

L'Auberge Del Mar has nice and decent facilities with a beautiful cocktail bar and stunning ocean views, making it a lovely spot to relax. The pool is small and isn't heated year-round, and the restaurant has a very limited menu with staff who aren't the friendliest. The spa is just OK, but overall, it's a pleasant experience, and I'd give it four stars.

The parking lot isn't huge so the first night we had to park in the metered lot next door, but they reimburse you for any parking fees. I was however able to find parking the next two days. They even gave me a courtesy call saying they noticed my car in the other lot and to remind me to move it by a specific time. I had already set my alarm to move it, but that was nice. The lobby has free coffee/ espresso machine and a dispenser for purified water. They provide beach towels and efficient room service. The rooms themselves are pretty comfortable, but we had someone above us that walked back and forth non stop which was a bit annoying. I mean it's just one room and a bathroom how much walking do you need to do lol. When you go out your door, you just walk a down the little walkway to the beach. Everyone is barefoot it's so close. They have little areas to rinse off your feet and also a brush hanging outside your door handle to brush the excess sand off, cute touch. The beach viewing lounge area (pictured) is nice, people hang out there and drink their coffee or work on their laptops. I had one suggestion, and that would be to build a platform deck for the back seats, because it would give them an unobstructed view. As it is now, the wall blocks some of your view, but putting a platform deck would solve that and be relatively inexpensive to do. We would totally stay here again, it's walking distance to several good restaurants and a short drive to more. Relaxed, friendly vibe. The lobby itself

A couple of friends were visiting from San Francisco and had one extra night left at this hotel that were not going to use it. So since they were taking me for dinner at nearby Jake's, my girlfriend offered me the empty room for the night so I didn't have to drive in the dark and also enjoy a beautiful morning doing my 10,000 steps while simultaneously meditating and recording an episode of my podcast in Spanish. I loved the room super spacious and with everything I needed (even if the coffee machine did not work for me). Being right there by the beach was a total treat. I feel loved by my friends, especially since I have not been out of San Diego since past September for budget reasons doing multiple jobs at the time. So I appreciate this generosity and being at Del Mar Beach hotel as it is one of my favorite beaches and brings so much joy. The decor in the small lobby is very surfer, cool vibe. Similar inside the room. The restaurant does not have restaurant for breakfast but they offer free coffee and you can buy simple sweets (although there are plenty of options to eat nearby). Parking at the back of the hotel, no problem finding a spot and it is validated. Awesome experience, chill people, glorious sunsets from there!

As a…read morelong time Marriott Bonvoy elite, I tend to look for Marriott's properties and in Solana, this was the only one with walking distance to the beach! So, we braved it! The verdict? It was NOT BAD at all! I'm not sure why there were a lot of negative reviews... Now, it wasn't great or incredible, no it was not a new property. I do think it's an older, remodeled property and the layout was interesting, a big circle with a big courtyard (hehe) in the middle with the pool and the bistro (the only restaurant on the property that serves Starbucks). Gym is tiny and felt stuff because it was in the basement floor with no window. There are only two levels and we were asked which floor was our preference and I saw second. We were given room 244 and it has a view to the bistro and the pool. Really high ceiling and since it was August, the already hot and humid weather making the first time entering the room feeling like we were transported to an island hotel room somewhere, even Hawaii. The high ceiling and interesting layout of the room was kind of nice/cool, and strange. The bathroom was unnecessary huge...but no complaints. Overall, room was really big and spacious and the only thing I would want to comment was how dusty the counter top was in the bathroom... I wiped everything off (all the counter) for some reason and there seemed to be lots of black sand on the bathroom counter top and in the sink... but, you are next to the ocean so... Overall, Courtyard doesn't provide free breakfast even for Titanium unless you book a rate with breakfast included (not free since those rates already accounted for the charge of the breakfast). However, not a problem because it is located where there are tons of places to eat any time of the day, and tons of places for coffee any time of the day. Very short walk to the beach, super simple and easy to find where beach access is. Go either from the back, turn right and short walk cross to the other side, there is the stairs down the beach. Or, if you're in the front, walk left to downtown. Super simple. Would def say again!

After returning from our day out and accepting the ant problem was not getting better, we called to change rooms. After being told by the front desk person they would look into it and call us back in a few minutes, we waited over 30 minutes then walked to the front desk where we couldn't be ignored. To then wait another 30 minutes to get a new room, delay was due to something wrong with the "system". The manager Tina (who is very friendly, if not fully effective) said she would put some Marriott Bonvoy points in my account for the trouble - the least I would expect for moving us from a double to a single and making us wait over an hour at 9pm for this change due to a pest issue in their room. Now, 3+ weeks later and multiple calls to the hotel - I do not have any bonus points nor even a call back. As much as I'd like to say the staff makes up for the state of the property, which is what I wanted to say by the time I wrote this, there does not seem to be a desire from the team to make things right, here's my honest assessment from our experience there.
