This is my all time favorite getaway, plenty to do, walking, cycling, beaching it, and plenty of surf for all. The Lotus room is my favorite of all, although I have stayed in the other two. I haven't stayed in the upstairs suites yet... I love that a nice selection of breakfast is available if I feel like being good or naughty. It's a serene place for any occasion especially a just because one. There is also yoga at Inhale up the street and yummy dinner at Zel's.

When we first came in last night, I wasn't sure what I thought. I realize now I was just so exhausted I couldn't process everything. Here we are in this magical room! Whoever designed this little gem of an inn did so with incredible love and artistic talent. Everywhere I look, there is something beautiful to see. There are only four rooms here, and it is tucked behind a little cafe. The attention to detail is amazing. All balconies face the ocean, and our door opens onto a tiny, Mediterranean courtyard that leads to the cafe. We both had veggie omelettes with fresh fruit and piping hot croissants for breakfast. Delicious and included in the price. The staff is lovely. Just so you know, you check in at the "Les Artistes" down the street, and then the owner brings you over here. Highly recommend!

Life doesn't get better than this! The penthouse suite was elegant, yet comfortable; a retreat and treat to stay here. The food in the adjoining cafe is amazing and a full breakfast is complimentary. The gorgeous room, view, and ideal location, gave me inspiration and relaxation!

Ooh la la - felt like a mini getaway right in Del Mar!…read more I've been here a few times when I didn't want to drive too far and wanted a fancy schmancy hangout! PROS: - Perfect location day or night - quick walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants - Popular spot for bougie food or European style gelato and surprisingly even Mexican eats. - Sunsets are my weakness, but here it's even more special especially from the lobby - it's unreal and literally GLOWS! - Love coming during the evening when you have no major plans and this spot was lively! - Great for people-watching so grab a drink and enjoy the show! CHEERS! - Living room bar had live music and great vibes! Feel free to dance it off as well. - Staff and valet team were friendly and on point. - Restrooms were well-maintained and clean. - Decor is dreamy, relaxing, and very Euro-chic! CONS: - Ocean view is hit or miss depending on where you're situated. If you have a balcony you'll have the full effect. - Drinks are PRICEY (go figure!) but hey worth it-sh LOL - Gets crowded and and maybe rowdy. Some days seem chill and others not so chill. So if loud noise is not your jam on busy nights, you may have to pass. OVERALL: 4 stars for great vibes and just a beautiful spot!

It was right on the beach as…read moreadvertised, tons of active beach goers, surfers, dog walkers, joggers, teens at lifeguard school, you name it -- all sorts of active lifestyles without it feeling too crowded. The parking lot isn't huge so the first night we had to park in the metered lot next door, but they reimburse you for any parking fees. I was however able to find parking the next two days. They even gave me a courtesy call saying they noticed my car in the other lot and to remind me to move it by a specific time. I had already set my alarm to move it, but that was nice. The lobby has free coffee/ espresso machine and a dispenser for purified water. They provide beach towels and efficient room service. The rooms themselves are pretty comfortable, but we had someone above us that walked back and forth non stop which was a bit annoying. I mean it's just one room and a bathroom how much walking do you need to do lol. When you go out your door, you just walk a down the little walkway to the beach. Everyone is barefoot it's so close. They have little areas to rinse off your feet and also a brush hanging outside your door handle to brush the excess sand off, cute touch. The beach viewing lounge area (pictured) is nice, people hang out there and drink their coffee or work on their laptops. I had one suggestion, and that would be to build a platform deck for the back seats, because it would give them an unobstructed view. As it is now, the wall blocks some of your view, but putting a platform deck would solve that and be relatively inexpensive to do. We would totally stay here again, it's walking distance to several good restaurants and a short drive to more. Relaxed, friendly vibe. The lobby itself

A couple of friends were visiting from San Francisco and had one extra night left at this hotel that were not going to use it. So since they were taking me for dinner at nearby Jake's, my girlfriend offered me the empty room for the night so I didn't have to drive in the dark and also enjoy a beautiful morning doing my 10,000 steps while simultaneously meditating and recording an episode of my podcast in Spanish. I loved the room super spacious and with everything I needed (even if the coffee machine did not work for me). Being right there by the beach was a total treat. I feel loved by my friends, especially since I have not been out of San Diego since past September for budget reasons doing multiple jobs at the time. So I appreciate this generosity and being at Del Mar Beach hotel as it is one of my favorite beaches and brings so much joy. The decor in the small lobby is very surfer, cool vibe. Similar inside the room. The restaurant does not have restaurant for breakfast but they offer free coffee and you can buy simple sweets (although there are plenty of options to eat nearby). Parking at the back of the hotel, no problem finding a spot and it is validated. Awesome experience, chill people, glorious sunsets from there!

As a…read morelong time Marriott Bonvoy elite, I tend to look for Marriott's properties and in Solana, this was the only one with walking distance to the beach! So, we braved it! The verdict? It was NOT BAD at all! I'm not sure why there were a lot of negative reviews... Now, it wasn't great or incredible, no it was not a new property. I do think it's an older, remodeled property and the layout was interesting, a big circle with a big courtyard (hehe) in the middle with the pool and the bistro (the only restaurant on the property that serves Starbucks). Gym is tiny and felt stuff because it was in the basement floor with no window. There are only two levels and we were asked which floor was our preference and I saw second. We were given room 244 and it has a view to the bistro and the pool. Really high ceiling and since it was August, the already hot and humid weather making the first time entering the room feeling like we were transported to an island hotel room somewhere, even Hawaii. The high ceiling and interesting layout of the room was kind of nice/cool, and strange. The bathroom was unnecessary huge...but no complaints. Overall, room was really big and spacious and the only thing I would want to comment was how dusty the counter top was in the bathroom... I wiped everything off (all the counter) for some reason and there seemed to be lots of black sand on the bathroom counter top and in the sink... but, you are next to the ocean so... Overall, Courtyard doesn't provide free breakfast even for Titanium unless you book a rate with breakfast included (not free since those rates already accounted for the charge of the breakfast). However, not a problem because it is located where there are tons of places to eat any time of the day, and tons of places for coffee any time of the day. Very short walk to the beach, super simple and easy to find where beach access is. Go either from the back, turn right and short walk cross to the other side, there is the stairs down the beach. Or, if you're in the front, walk left to downtown. Super simple. Would def say again!

Would not stay here again. The hotel itself feels rundown. Our initial room had a steady stream of…read moreants on the furniture, and some spotted in the bathroom. After returning from our day out and accepting the ant problem was not getting better, we called to change rooms. After being told by the front desk person they would look into it and call us back in a few minutes, we waited over 30 minutes then walked to the front desk where we couldn't be ignored. To then wait another 30 minutes to get a new room, delay was due to something wrong with the "system". The manager Tina (who is very friendly, if not fully effective) said she would put some Marriott Bonvoy points in my account for the trouble - the least I would expect for moving us from a double to a single and making us wait over an hour at 9pm for this change due to a pest issue in their room. Now, 3+ weeks later and multiple calls to the hotel - I do not have any bonus points nor even a call back. As much as I'd like to say the staff makes up for the state of the property, which is what I wanted to say by the time I wrote this, there does not seem to be a desire from the team to make things right, here's my honest assessment from our experience there.
