We've enjoyed both courses, but there are drawbacks. The main course is in beautiful condition, but the par 3 is scruffy, perhaps because kids use it a lot. The layout is interesting but old and tight. They need more directional signage on the winding cart paths. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, but yesterday a ranger harassed us three times even though we were 5-12 minutes ahead of pace according their GPS! Geez. We'll play somewhere else next week. read more

Had an awesome time at Winnetka Golf Club. They have 2 options of courses to play from with a 18 hole Par 72 and a 9 hole Par 3 course. Played the 18 holes and it was a beautiful course that looks well maintained and in great shape. I can understand why it's a top 50 public course. Pin locations were challenging, but reasonable. Brian, the park ranger, was really nice and understandable when our group got delayed a bit. The golf carts are equipped with GPS, which is awesome for those without a range finder. The club also has a driving range and putting area for those who just who want to practice or want to warm up before playing a round. They do have a clubhouse that serves drinks and food at the turn and before/after a round. It is on the pricier side, but it is a really nice course to visit. Hope to come back soon! read more

Here's the breakdown: -Staff is a hit or miss. They either welcome you, or you're lectured by an unqualified 25 year old kid who thinks he is hot sh!t working in the pro shop telling you how a chip reader works. -Par 3 is in terrible condition. It's more expensive than others, so you're paying the North Shore tax for weeds, divot marks, sticks, leaves, and trash greens. "I can work on my iron game" no you can work on locating a ball in a dandelion field. -Driving range is ok. Not a ton of mats, and they always reserve 1/2 of it for camps and instruction. -Regular course wasn't terrible, other than the prices. read more

Great course! Well kept! Super friendly club house staff at front desk and cafe! Full breakfasts offered and lunch foods. Great Starter BOB! Great practice facility too. First time golfing at WGC and we had a great time. Beautifully maintained course with actual bathrooms. Forward tee placements were definitely not an afterthought as with other courses. Played today and the course was In horrible condition. The grass was just cut and the grass clipping were everywhere and The grass around the trees has not been cut this year. Weeds throughout the rough. We lost 4 golf balls that were no more that 2 feet off the fairway. The pace of ply was mediocre. Not sure if I will return. read more

Went back to Winnetka golf course after 5 years hoping things have changed. Well, nothing has changed. What once was a wonderful north shore golf course has fallen on very hard times. After 5 years of such conditions I can only think that this is being done on purpose. Weeds everywhere, trees needing trimming and many dead ones just sitting there. Lack of sand in the bunkers, myclub bounced off the underpayment on a shot. Clearly this goes to senior management. Most north shore park district golf courses have been redone. Highland Park Glenview Wilmette Northbrook This facility can't even control the weeds. Please, stay away. This community has the money to keep a high quality golf course. Trip to Chicago and this was one of the golf courses I went to. WOW..just beautiful. Friendly staff. Had a great time. Only thing I was bummed about was the golf shop. Not much in there. And was disappointed that they didn't sell ball markers with their name on it! (I collect them). Even small golf courses have them. Would have been nice to have a collectible marker. This was one of the worst condition courses I have been too. Grass was not cut, weeds were everywhere. Multiple greens had hundreds of active ant hills! They even had a cart that ran out of gas in the middle of the fairway at 14. I will not return to this dumpster fire of a course ever again. read more

Since my dad still has his membership I decided to hit a few balls. You know that feeling of inadequacy when 13 yr.olds pass you up on the ski slops? Same applies when you see them hit a eagle (lets not talk about my handicap). A full regulation golf course (18 hole and 9 hole) situated in the north side of Chicago. Great place if you want peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The golf course is newly renovated with new tee complexes and bunkers. Beautifully manicured greens with lush gardens and beautiful flowers. The fairways are wide and yes the course is challenging enough even for the seasoned golfer. Rates are pricey (this is golf) but if you're a residential they send out discount cards to you seasonally. They offer one on one instruction with PGA members and driving ranges for the beginner and intermediates. Checkout the pro shop for golf gear you might have left at home. read more

While visiting a buddy in Chicago (I'm from Detroit) we decided to head North and try this place out. I'm was very impressed with it! The price was on point for a Saturday, 10:30am. I don't know much about the area but based on the houses, I would have guessed it would have been a lot more $$$. The folks in the pro shop were great. Gave us free range tokens because we were wearing out University of Michigan gear! I'm not a great golfer but I can hold my own and I thought this course was awesome. 100 years old this year. Had character to it. The fairways were well kept (country club quality) and the greens were decent as well. Scenic holes surrounded by nice houses. We both enjoyed the course and I'd play it again. read more

Played the course on Columbus Day so it was a quiet crowd. Locals seem to dictate what happens on the first tee and the first tee time and scooted right in front of us, but they were friendly and we never saw them again. Course had just gotten a decent amount of rain and was very green. Greens were nice too, although the players don't seem to care much for replacing their ballmarks. Booked the tee time online and the lady was very friendly and helpful. Wish I could say the same for the older gentleman who checked me in on 10/11. Unengaging. Unhelpful. Rude. Management should look into better training or accountability here, or invite this gentleman to re-enter the workforce as he could care less about welcoming and friendly customer service. Overall, give it a try and pray you don't get the same person checking you in as we had. read more

It's a nice course, but in no way is it worth $71. The staff is friendly enough and the greens are in great shape. Pace of play is something to be left desired. Rough is wildly inconsistent from tee to green (lots of deadpan/hard surfaces under the grass, especially around the greens, making it difficult to chip or pitch), probably due to the lack of cart paths from tee to green. Bunkers were also inconsistent. Some had nice sand to hit out of, and others were like hitting off concrete. I've also never had a golf cart bounce so much while driving through the fairways; only take drinks when you're stopped lest you want to wear your beverage. I'd say $45 is a reasonable price for this course. read more

This course has a pretty reasonable rate for twilight golf (after 4PM) - it's something like $19 even for a non-resident which is pretty good during the summer. Driving range is nothing to ride home about - mats are kind of old and there is usually only one out of the 20-30 mats which has the rubber tee size I like. Course is pretty solid and tends to be in good shape. I heard they had issues last summer when it rained a lot and the course got extremely swampy. As some people have mentioned, this course is pretty tight and if you go off the fairway much you spend time in the trees. There are some nice holes but overall this isn't a very scenic course. In general, I do enjoy going to practice at this course as they have a large putting green and a couple smaller greens for chipping. I make it out to this course occasionally as it is nice to play once in a while and is a good getaway. No real complaints about this course. read more

This course is ok, not great. I certainly would say its a place I would go back to... but its not worth their weekend rates. Its a great twilight course. Its perpetually in mostly finished and playable condition. However, I am convinced that this place used to be a wetlands... because no matter what the weather has been like, it seems like multiple holes have large roped off areas keeping players and carts out of a muddy hell... which is great if your ball lands in that area. Short of using ropes and waders- balls dropped in a mid fairway swamp are gone forever. Which is sad, very sad considering I hit the fairway only a few times a round! But really... play early and late season. Play after it hasnt rained for a while. And dont make eye contact with some of the staff- they are not as friendly as other courses. I have heard their Par 3 course is nice, as an aside. read more

I played in a practice round here today, the course is super slow and there are grass clippings everywhere. The actual hole was in bad condition too they must've not changed them in 4 or 5 days. Course is in horrible condition. Standing water in the fairways over 2 days after the last rainfall. It's been WEEKS since the rough was last mowed. Rough is 6-9 inches tall immediately next to the fairway. Several lost balls in the rough just feet off of the fairway. The course really shouldn't be open until they can properly mow the grass and drain the standing water. read more

Can't ask for anything better! They are always maintaining the course to ensure its mowed and vacuumed. Bunkers could use some TLC though. Great layout with water running through the course but still some dry holes. Challenging and fairly long from the tips. Great staff who is always polite and attentive. They also seem to never have a problem with slow pace play, at least not when I have been here. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

This course is in absolutely horrible condition. The rough directly off the fairway looks like it hasn't been cut in 3-4 weeks. Multiple holes have massive areas of ground under repair right next to the fairway. Standing water everywhere. I remember this place. Don't remember the year. Sometime between 1986-1991 I used to come here as a kid and took lessons. It was part of a school program on wendnesdays to kepp us busy with different activities. I wasn't alone. It was a group of five or 10. I liked golf that time. Also took tennis once in the same building. It was a nice place but haven't been there since. Will have to go back soon just to see how its changed. But its still priced fairly. It doesn't say on thier website. But the large bucket is 9 dollars for about 70 balls and the 6 dollar bucket about half that. I just called the pro shop and that is what he said. And members are 7 and 5 dollars. And with the 10 bucket pass it is only 63 for members and even 81 for non members is not bad. Devided by 10 is 8.1 dollars for 70 balls and compared to willlow hill for example it is still cheaper as its 12 dollars for 75 balls and even with the pass at 10 dollars 8.1 is still cheaper. But for 5 extra balls its not worth it. read more

The course is extremely beat up On almost all the holes. The divots hasn't been fixed at all for a while. Also the corse it pretty short. It would be perfect for new players considering how short it is and the placement of the water. I do like however is the pricing there 12 tees are only $0.75 And Admission is only $13. Has been in AMAZING shape all year. Course plays harder than the card says if you can't hit straight. Always can get a tee time. Pros and staff EXTREMELY helpful. Even lent me a driver when the course pro saw my current driver wasn't working today. Lent me a brand new Titleist. Nice range but could use grass tees instead of astroturf. Range flags are spot on and it fun hitting onto actual greens that are cut the same as the course so when you play youll have no surprise how the ball will react. Concession prices are on par with most courses. Food is delicious. Look forward to my next round. read more

I hate to be so hard on my 'home' course, but the condition of this course is perhaps the worst I have ever played on. There is not an even piece of turf on the grounds, and as a result, you must drive your gas cart extremely slow, or else you risk kidney damage. The rough is nothing but weeds and clover. There was a downed tree near a green where I lost my ball. The pimply-faced kid working the counter needs a lesson in courtesy. This is a black eye on a remarkable and friendly village on the North Shore. Skip it...there are better daily fee courses around. read more

I played this course for the first time a couple of weeks ago and came away fairly impressed. The course was in very good condition and the greens were running pretty smooth. The layout is fairly uninteresting. The holes are very close together and run along side by side. Very narrow and tight, better be a fairly straight hitter or it could make for a long day. Somewhat traditional North Shore golf course. On a side note the course has probably the best drinking fountain water I've ever tasted on a golf course or anywhere for that matter. In conclusion, this course is worth playing, but maybe not on a regular basis. read more

Great local course for a reasonable price. Great course to walk. The marshals keep everything on time but can be a pain at the same time, i.e. asking you to hurry when you are waiting on the group in front of you. Overall great experience where I've golfed many times. read more

I wouldn't recommend buying food from the cafe, I ordered a grilled cheese with my son and the cheese was runny I went up to the worker and asked him what type of cheese it was and he gave me a stupendously rude answer, he said " it is running cheese and it hot what you want you want cold cheese?!"
