They have the best pies I've ever had. The crust is fabulous and everything inside each one is just perfect in my opinion.

We have been enjoying Smith's pies for a good ten years. When we stopped in to pick up an apple pie for our Thanksgiving dinner we stumbled across what turned out to be an unexpected treat. Next to the register was a small package wrapped in red & white string, labeled "Bonnie's Uncommon Fruitcake." I've been a sucker for trying fruitcakes ever since I had my first slice of Freihofer's Fruitcake over seventy years ago. Here was a locally baked fruitcake with no difficult to pronounce or preservative ingredients. That definitely made it "Uncommon." Pecans, dates, candied fruit (cherries, pineapple), eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. That's it! I thought it tasted delicious. It was not overly sweet, had a good amount of nuts and candied fruit, and there was minimal cake (flour) holding it all together perfectly. Hubby and I were in the mood for apple cider donuts. I found Smith's Orchard & Bake Shop on Yelp and so we decided to drive over. They had a large selection of pies - small and large, fruits & vegetables as well as many other tasty treats. We resisted all the deliciousness and only ordered two apple cider donuts. These donuts were so delicious! Slightly dense yet fluffy and perfectly coated with apple cider sugar. Yumm! They were priced 1 for $1, 6 for $5. Go for the half dozen, they're that good! The sweetest little bake shop. Clearly family run across several generations. Everything in the shop is made by them or locally sourced. The pies are truly homemade, hand made - they were churning them out as we were there. The donuts are a must have - warm out of the oven, perfectly fluffy and covered in cinnamon sugar. The prices are also very affordable (half a dozen donuts for $4!). If I was a local, I'd be in all the time. But it's also worthy of a tourist destination! Don't miss an opportunity to go. Pie crust is thick, not enough salt and to short (to much crisco) making it greasy. And the pies could have more filling. Not to mention they need to come to the 20th century and accept credit card payments. It's a quaint little store, people are nice and atmosphere is warm and delicious smelling. read more

I googled the outlet store for hours of operation I drove 35 minutes to get there to get a frozen pie so I can have it for Thanksgiving They inform me when I walked in even though the hours were posted that they were on a lunch break and they could not accommodate me I had to come back in an hour You have to understand this is in the middle of nowhere ... I wasn't about to sit in my car for an hour because they couldn't or wouldn't. Some huffy woman came out in some kind of an outrage to inform me that Thanksgiving was in a week...what did I expect? They come out fresh an hot each morning by 11 am an offer whole pies $15. When people say they are willing to travel 3 hours to get the food they love, I thought they better be head over their heels because that's quite the trip to just sink their teeth into whatever they thirsted for! And more importantly, I thought no food "around me" would make me want to do such a thing. I was wrong, I was so wrong. Smith's Orchard and Bakeshop was one of the last stops we visited before we returned home in the concrete jungle, and I made sure we swing by to support local businesses. I also wanted to give apple pie another chance because we had one from another place that bummed us out with its sad crust and unsatisfying filling. I suppose NY really is best with apples and Vermont is better with maple syrup, because damn, this is the best pie I've ever had in my whole life. We bought both apple and blueberry crumble pies, and we immediately put them the the taste test in our car while they were still warm. First things first, come here and buy everything and you'd be golden. The apple raspberry crumb pie is out of this world. I bought the small one just to try them out and regretted not buying 5 big ones. By the time I got here cars were parked all over the place and the line was crazy long, but we were there for apple picking too so no big deal. You get your bags and go out into the orchards. Come back and wait online to pay per pound. All the workers were friendly and shoveling out fresh pies as fast as humanly possible. I came here today with my boyfriend after totally forgetting this gem existed and will now be a regular customer. I had purchased a large apple raspberry pie, a small cherry crumb pie, a carrot cake, and some of apple cider donuts. let me tell you those donuts didn't make it home and i regret not getting a full dozen, both pies were amazing but that crumble topping won me over completely on the cherry!! i also grabbed a couple pieces of their sweet corn displayed in the produce section to make for dinner and it was the best damn sweet corn i've ever had in my life! both ladies who helped me out were extremely nice and you can tell they put their all into this place. they also have a wide selection of meat which will be my next trip down there, did i mention this place is amazing? read more

Leaving Saratoga area, I got there shortly after they opened in the morning and purchased a dozen donuts and 2 apple pies for two separate friends. AMAZING!!! This is worth a trip and with a driving app you can find it if you are not local. The donuts DO last more than a day, so just buy MORE. They only take cash or check, but they have an ATM in the shop. The ATM charged me $2.50 fee but I'm so glad that that was there or otherwise I could only buy what cash I had on hand. I truly would have bought so much more if I knew the quality of the goods. From the store you can see women in the back baking. This is the real deal, so just go already. read more

We wanted to enjoy a nice fall Saturday and decided to go to Smith's. We bought an apple and Peach pie that was still warm. We managed to wait until after dinner dessert time . The crust was light and flaky and the filling was a surprise. Not overly sweet just a satisfying apple& peach with cinnamon filling. It was busy and we bought a small maple syrup. What can I say? The pie from here is AMAZING! I actually picked up a Smith's pie from Prime when I was visiting some friends who live in the area. They just happened to bring some in and were stocking the shelves. I circled the shelves until I could finally figure out what I wanted and the ultimately decided on an Apple and Peach Crumb Pie! I do not crave for pie that often although I do love my sweets, but this pie is making my mouth water! First off, the pie crust was exactly how I liked it: buttery! Of course, the edges were the best part! The filling was apple and peaches. It was not overly sweet at all. It was balanced with the flavor so that you didn't just get an apple or peach heavy pie. It was almost like a perfect bite each time. The topping was soooo gooood! I have a weakness for crumb toppings. So, if this is down your alley, you gotta pick one up! Pick a pie, any pie...Smith's has lots! My co-worker who sits behind me loves to make bets. He has a penchant for pie, and suggested that 3 of us at work try to guess Smith's top three most popular pies from their impressive list of pastry treats. This wasn't easy: they have fruit pies and savory pies and pies that'll pop the buttons off your pants (cookie brownie choco pies). After placing our bets, we called Smiths and the super sweet lady shared their top 3 most popular pies...who could guess? I did. That's right, I won, which means I got to pick a pie, any pie, that the other two losers had to purchase and pick up. I picked apple blueberry crumb, and it was SO amazing.
