We chatted and they gave me such a great sense of wanting to return, about a month later, I brought an out-of-state visiting friend there. The vibe was entirely different. A young-ish tall woman was the only salesperson on duty. She barely greeted us when we entered, paced around the floor with a pissed-off bored look on her face, fiddled with some stuff behind the counter, paced around impatiently some more, and did a stellar job of vibing us right out the door. There were a few other shoppers in the store and I noted they didn't stay long either. Totally baffling because my friend and I are your target demographic. We very likely would have done some serious shopping. Congrats on hiring someone who will make sure your store is empty, and safe from all those pesky and bothersome shoppers! Was it an ageism issue? The Gatsby saved my wedding day!…read more Not only is Gatsby my favorite shop and wine bar downtown where I can always find a unique gift on any budget, Katy and Hannah saved my wedding day by hosting us for a private party when our first ceremony was cancelled due to illness. After the outdoor ceremony, we headed to the Gatsby for our reception, where Katy and Hannah hosted us with the wine bar and private shopping. Katy has such a unique talent for creating a modern '20's aesthetic is the millennium's '20's era. We had access to Bluetooth to play our own playlist and have our first dance. Thank you Katy and Hannah for giving us a better reception than we even originally had planned. We are so grateful you both were a part of our day.

Plus tanks, maxi dresses, shawls, ponchos, hats and scarves. The clothing for men is in similar prints and patterns. Button up shirts, pullovers and wide cotton pants. My fave is their long sleeve cotton shirts made in Tiabet with graphic prints of The Tree of Life, sea turtles, elephants, the sun.p, etc. The more you wash them, the softer they get; they are soooocomfortable! I wear them going to and from the gym or just running errands. People always stop me and compliment them. Today I bought a charcoal gray with a graphic print of two entwined elephants. Like the other Kathmandu stores, there are lots of Hindu goddess statues, meditation bowls, tapestries, ponchos, shawls, beaded bracelets, an entire shelf along the wall stocked with incense, some silver jewelry and lots of pillows. I'm very much a bride-on-a-budget so we were mainly shopping from the Outlet. Michelle had put aside a dress that she thought would be cool, didn't pressure me, and I agreed thinking it would be fun. Little did I know, it would be the one. The entire experience was amazing; they served us seasonal mocktails during the fitting, Michelle held up a suit coat in the color of my groom to help me envision the big day clearly, I was able to try on a wonderful selection of gorgeous dresses all within my price range and even one from the Gallery. I didn't feel any condescension for the fact that I was shopping from the outlet and was treated with respect and words of affirmation. I had another appointment later in the day so I didn't nab it up right then and there...but I couldn't get the dress off of my mind. I went back a few hours later and tried it on again. Michelle was so kind, gave me all the time, and the relief when I said yes was very much mutual. She even gave me a hefty discount, which was extremely considerate. She had an alteration appointment, to hem the base of the dress and pull either side in from the back, they quoted $945 additional dollars!!! when we said no, they removed all the pinnings and demanded $50 for the pinning appointment and took the quote sheet away from us. ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!
