I visited this year for the first time since 2015 and I don't remember it being this big! They had lots of huts selling the same drinks; hot chocolate, baileys hot chocolate, mulled wine, etc. There are only a couple of places to get a latte/cappuccino, otherwise lots of black coffee available in the Bavarian Village. A lot of the food in this area was the same and what you'd expect - sausages cooked over large fires. Skip the peppermint hot chocolate. It was £7 and absolutely awful. The only mint flavour came from the neon green sauce on the top and it was definitely powdered chocolate. The street food section was our favourite. It's as expensive as you'd expect from a London tourist attraction during Christmas, but the food we had at Only Jerkin seemed fresh and the batter had a really nice ginger flavour. The Duck Shed had some good options and we thought the wrap was pretty nice but maybe had one too many things thrown in. We wish we'd tried the mac & cheese instead. There are so many rides and games with an 'interesting' array of brightly coloured soft toys...who doesn't need a bright purple giant banana?! We came during the day to avoid the crowd and when we left at lunch time it was already getting very busy and it was only midweek! Go when they open if you want to browse the shops in peace. I remember it being so fun at night with all the lights but be prepared for the crowds!
Hyde's Winter Wonderland was an incredible experience for my friends and I. This was unlike any amusement park we went to. We ordered our tickets online and chose the rides and activities we wanted to visit. While entering, we were instantly blown away by how everything was arranged. There were so many cute gift shops and food carts. The Ice Kingdom was amazing and had immersive ice exhibits for us to check out. The sculptures looked incredible and so detailed. We were able to slide down an icy slide and stick a coin to an icy wall. There are lots of photo opportunities as well. We also went on the Ferris Wheel which had an amazing view and circulated 3 times. We were getting a little dizzy from the rocking but it was still fun. Our last ride was a spinning swing that brought us up to the air at an angle. This day was super memorable and perfect for the holidays!
I visited Winter Wonderland about 5 years ago, and it was a different experience to what is now. The only way to get in is by purchasing tickets (£5 adults) online for a certain date and time slot, but they seem to let way too many people in. As ticket holders, we waited in line for 45 minutes before we were allowed in. The shops aren't as nice as they used to be, and many things are too expensive. I had some mulled wine and chips, which were reasonably priced, but that was the only positive thing I have to say. There was plenty of seating in general, but there was also a lack of heated areas to warm up. We saw one bar that had heated seating advertised, but only in a very small section with 4 tables max. Music was a little strange, the live musicians were talented, but they weren't singing any Christmas songs. IMO, there are plenty of lovely Christmas markets all around London that are free of charge, and a much nicer experience (Trafalgar Square, Somerset ice skating rink, etc.). Save your time and visit one of those instead.
There is a scaled admission fee depending on what time and day you want to go. I paid £5 for a Thursday afternoon which I was fine with but I would have a hard time justifying anything more. The admission fee doesn't include anything besides access to other things that cost money - food, drinks, games, rides, etc. Everything within winter wonderland was overpriced but I will say my glass of mulled wine was tasty. There are many food options for under £10 but I didn't indulge in any of them. If you have a lot of money to spend and have kids, I think it's worth a stop. If you just want to see it, go during one of the free days. Otherwise, skip and go to any of the other (and there are many!) Christmas markets in london.
We spent 4-5 hours here and easily could have stayed longer. There's so much to do for everyone- eat, drink, dance, ride, games, activities and people watch. So many food and drink options. Plenty of bathrooms. Prices are okay. The Bavarian farmer dog and cheese fries is the best. Book your ticket online advance and GO EARLY. Our time was 3-4pm we went at 3 and it was super packed long line to get in. Prepared to do lots of walking so don't recommend going with any bags. Overall lovely, holiday experience, people, friendly, and cheery.
I am American and partook in a study abroad program in London and Dublin. This fair was near our hotel and I just knew I had to go! I took advantage of our first free time opportunity to go to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland and had an amazing time!! Figuring out how to book activities online was a little confusing, but it also showed me just how many rides and activities there are at Hyde Winter Wonderland. Due to costs, I only took part in one activity; the Ice Bar. Since I was alone, I was a bit awkward sitting with my drink by myself, so I would definitely recommend you go with friends to this attraction. However, the bar was so cool; I got one free drink in a cup made out of ice. The drink I chose was pink and cutesy and tasted amazing. The bar and its decor was made out of ice and had neon color-changing lights everywhere. There were ice sculptures and other interesting things to look at, and with the jacket and gloves you are loaned, it wasn't horribly cold. The one downside of this attraction is that it was a bit pricey, running at about 17 pounds. Besides that, it was awesome all around! Since the rides were cheaper than the attractions, I rode 4 rides at Hyde Winter Wonderland. They were The Hangover, Munich Looping, Blizzard, and Airborne. With each of these rides, I didn't experience a long wait at all. If you have gone to an American fair, you understand the pain of waiting in painfully long lines for rides. The lines at Hyde Winter Wonderland were extremely short in my opinion. I don't know if this can apply to everyday and for every activity, seeing as the ice skating rink was sold out, but it should be known that the lines for the attractions I did were VERY short, which really elevated my experience. What better ride to start with than The Hangover; Hyde Winter Wonderland's 279 foot (85 meter) drop tower? As we were raised to the top, the mechanism holding the seats rotated in a circle, giving us a beautiful view of more London from above than you can see from a stationary high place. Then we were dropped to the ground, giving me a rush of adrenaline! If you dislike drop towers, but love rollercoasters, then Munich Looping is the ride for you! Munich Looping is the world's largest portable roller coaster featuring 5 loops! I was very excited for this as I love colorful roller coasters with loops, and as soon as the ride started, we were already looping!! A very nice thing to note is that I didn't get whiplash, which I was very grateful for, as that is the main downside I have experienced riding looped coasters. The loops were thrilling and fun, and the colorfulness of the coaster was appealing to my eyes. It was extremely fun! I would definitely recommend this ride if you are starting to get into more high-adrenaline rides. I am not one to be scared on rides that often since I have ridden many high thrill rides, but Airborne had me so scared I was gripping the over the shoulder restraint for dear life!! I haven't experienced this level of fear on a ride in FOREVER, so if you are an adrenaline junkie, Airborne will definitely give you your fix! Airborne is a pendulum ride that offers you no visibility of itself as you are soaring through the air in circles reaching 213 feet (65 meters) high. It feels as if you are in free fall, offering an incredible view of London upside-down!! The fact that all I could see was my environment and not the ride was the scariest part as it felt like I was going to fall face first into the ground far below. It was awesome!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys thrill rides. The last ride I did at Hyde Winter Wonderland was Blizzard; a pendulum ride that is very similar to Airborne, but just as fun! This ride also stands at 213 feet (65 meters) tall, but was not as scary since you could see the ride during each rotation. The bright and vibrant color-changing lights made this ride so pretty, which I loved. While this ride is not as scary as Airborne, it will definitely still give you a major adrenaline rush. My adrenaline was already peaked by riding Airborne before this, so this ride felt more relaxing, which was very enjoyable. Airborne lacked Blizzard's visual element of the beautiful lights, which I enjoyed very much. With all this being said, if you are looking for some adrenaline but also to feel relaxed at the same time, Blizzard is the ride for you! There are over 100 rides and attractions to experience at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, and I had a blast only experiencing 5! Hyde Park Winter Wonderland was my favorite activity I experienced in London, and that speaks volumes! I love thrill rides, but there were plenty of other attractions for individuals of all ages. Whether you are a family looking to go out for the holidays with your kids, or a tourist looking for solo activities to have fun at in London, you will 100% love the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland fair!!
Wow! I had an amazing visit! Let me list out why it was so good. 1) free entry!! 2) most of the food/drinks were 5-8gbp which is so much cheaper than anything in the USA! 3) food quality was better than most festivals 4) mulled wine was the bestest here! 5) churros was bestest here! Make sure theres a line when ordering. Otherwise you will get the cooled down/cold churros and those are no bueno! 6)sausage dogs were delicious too! 7) there are more places to sit than any other events like this I've been to 8) there are pockets of different themed parts that were super cute! Now a couple bads... 1) be careful of hot chocolate stands. My friend ordered one and it was kinda expensive for hit cocoa and didnt taste good. Ordered tea too and that was bleh for 2gbp. 2) no gondola!! It should be a requirement to have a gondola....i craved that view from top! The games looked like all the generic festivals/carnivals out there and we didnt play. It was so fun just walking around contemplating what to eat. Haha
12/13/2018: Well~The last time I saw my daughter, son-in-law, and grand-daughter was leaving their lovely home located in San Francisco CA USA using the "LIFT" CAR TRANSPORTATION. Now and since I've been skulking around London UK and hanging out with the Locals, I have become familiarized with TFL'S Tube and Bus Transportation System. My daughter called me in the morning informing she'll meet me by the ice skating rink at Winter Wonderland via Hyde Park: I knew Bus #148 would drop me in front of Hyde Park due to the disastrous chaos I experienced on 12/05/2018 when the Jubilee Tube Transfer was completely shut down due to commuter congestion! Upon arriving at Winter Wonderland, there were no signs posted via the Bus Stop for the family entrance-ANYWHERE; walking along the ominous, foreboding, towering, dark forest green wall, I must have walked a few hundred feet trying to find ANY entrance into Winter Wonderland! Finally, I found an entrance, i.e., labeled, 2-A RED FAMILY ENTRANCE. To my utter dismay, I was frisked and searched at the entrance-WOT!!!! WHY???? This is utterly needless harassment accosting individuals, i.e., MOI~with searching rifling through my Pacsafe backpack without using sanitary gloves surely is unacceptable and the security demanding I empty the entire contents of my backpack; HOWEVER, families were NOT SEARCHED AT ALL~WTH!!!! BONKERS . . . About twenty-five minutes later, I met my family via the Blue Gate where MORE individuals where being unlawfully searched while elderly couples and families WEREN'T egregiously, obtusely searched! I didn't enjoy any part of Winter Wonderland due to the sour Gustopo Search at the gate entrance, i.e., I won't waste my time being insulted entering a pitty-potty, inferior, amusement park.
Craziness at its finest. Came here on Christmas Eve and the amount of people here is absolutely insane. The place is actually really pretty - lights illuminating the whole park as activity and energy surrounds you whether that is a ride, games, shows, or food. However, because of that, I would imagine that a lot of pick-pocketing occurs here. The types of rides offered are mind-blowing! There's so many different version of the classic Swings. For example they have one that is a mixture of Swings and Drop Tower where the circle continues to rise and fall as it spins you around. Also many of the rides use VR experience which is such a cool way to incorporate modern technology. However, my biggest problem was that there was water and mud all over the floor - it was one sticky mess. I'm not sure what was happening but in between each tile, there seemed to be a ton of water spilling out. Hard to walk in. A lot of things to do but maybe don't come during Christmas Eve and definitely wear water prevention shoes.
I just loved this place!!! Its a must see place in London during Christmas time. Its always a busy place but its just amazing! Its Free entrance so take advantage of that. Getting on the rides does cost but its worth to see it at least once during the holidays. Their hot chocolate, mulled wine, and beautiful lights just makes it worth visiting it more than once. If you're in London during the winter time, this is a must see place! Check it out
Winter wonderland has to be one of my fav things to do when the holidays come around. It's best to book tickets online in advance, as sometimes you are out of luck and there are no tickets left at the place. Usually around this time of year is also very cold so bundle up. The place is a fair and a Christmas market all in one. The fair has many rides for all, from toddler to young adult to more mature. The rides use tokens/tickets and those can be purchased there or beforehand as well. They have some pretty nice thrills but if roller coasters and that kind of stuff is not your thing, not to worry, they have other fun rides that are not as intimidating, and lots of games to test your luck. The market is full of items that can be gifted for the holidays, and they have food all throughout the park, BUT they also have areas where you can sit to have a drink, and yes an adult drink haha with love music and bands, and this is probably top3 for me to do there, you feel some kind of brother/sisterhood sitting there next to strangers bonding over classic songs. This place also includes, an ice sculpture area and a circus ! Truly so much to do here, that if possible, you need at least 2 days to soak it all in. The weekends are super packed so if you don't like crowds, probably best to visit during the week. Prices are moderate and reasonable but you don't have to break bank, they usually have deals online to choose from, that best fits what your visit would look like. So go ahead, visit winter wonderland and bring home a prize! read more

In short, most stalls and carnival games are scams, a lot of food stalls but the food are mediocre, and the rides are much better at Thorpe Park. It was absolutely packed and I can barely feel any Christmas vibes. It is worth mentioning that the park tends to attract large crowds, and there are a number of carnival mini games that are scams, falling short of expectations and potentially being overpriced. While it can be worthwhile to visit at least once to immerse oneself in the festive atmosphere, it is understandable that some individuals may opt not to return based on their personal preferences. read more

I came to London in December simply to come and experience Winter wonderland. I based my entire trip on this. It did not disappoint. I felt all the Christmas jolly. It had many rides and a lot of delicious foods. Everyone should experience this at least once! read more

Winter Wonderland is a huge pop-up theme park in Hyde Park for the run-up to Christmas. In a COVID era, it feels like a super spreader event just waiting to happen -- hordes of people everywhere. If you've been to other carnivals, theme parks, or state fairs in the US, it's quite a similar vibe. There are rollercoasters for riding, hundreds of food stalls for eating and drinking, and trinkets and prizes to be bought and won. Everything is ridiculously overpriced (one of the rides was £9 just to ride once!). But if you just want to explore, there are days you can enter for free, so you can check it out without breaking the bank (unless you get suckered into buying a lot while you're there!). Though shout-out to the Lidl booth on the southeastern side selling hot chocolate and a mince pie for only £3! Overall a very touristy and commercialized experience, but an enjoyable activity to experience at least once nonetheless. Check it out if you're curious. read more

Large fair that runs during the holidays. Fun for adults and children alike. Huge variety of holiday shops, food, bars, rides, and carnival games. Best of all, entry is free! There is more than one entrance. The one near the streets is more crowded, so walk in a little bit further into the park if you want to avoid a wait. A few things I like: * Holiday shops - Personalized ornaments * Hot chocolate - perfect for the cold nights * Fish and chips - Can't go wrong with a London staple * Muled wine - spiked wine to warm you up during the cold nights Environment is fun and lively. Great for family night, date night, or hanging out with friends. Overall, nothing too wow but something to do to get into the holiday spirit read more

A really fun time if you're in London this time of year! There were so many churro stands it was almost hilarious - at least eight or more. The food options were decent - a lot of sausages, drink options and simpler foods. The games were expensive but fun. Our favorite stops were the ferris wheel and the carousel bar. read more

Easy 5 stars ! This fair was literally right across the street from our hotel, so we had to at least check it out for a minute. The entry is free and there is so much to do. I have been to many fairs and theme park setups like this before but this place was amazing ! There were tons of rides everywhere and for all ages. My boyfriend and I went on this little roller coaster and it was so much fun ! You can buy tickets or just pay for a particular ride. This fair is huge ! I don't even think we went to every section and we were there for awhile. There are food stands and games al over. There are several tents packed with tables and people listening to music and dancing. We actually ended up in one tent that was heated and had fire pits and fit chairs. We started with hot wine and then just ended up getting a bottle of wine. This was my favorite thing to do while in London . read more
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is a large scale festival and amusement park with numerous attractions combined with a Christmas Market. It is located at the East side of Hyde Park near several Tube (subway) stations. Marble Arch is the closest station and it also provides the most direct route to the main entrance. Admission to the event is free but every attraction will cost you money. A few main events that might interest you include: -- An open air ice skating rink. -- The Nutcracker on Ice, a 60-minute dazzling show on skates. -- Cirque Berserk, an acrobatic and stunt show. -- Many other Christmas, comedy and children shows. -- Numerous rides of different thrill level - from the rather gentle haunted house to the multiple upside-down inside-out coaster ride "Munich Looping" from Germany. Food was absolutely abundant and their selections were too numerous to mention. Right when we thought we've found the "food area", more and more "food areas" appeared as we walked around. We've sampled a variety of French crepes, Belgian waffles and German bratwursts and they were all delicious. By the time we saw the Italian Neapolitan pizza booth, where the sweet and rich aroma of the pizzas filled the air; we were already too full to order one. Beers, ales, wines and other drinks were available in many places, and the place to visit was the vibrant Bavarian Beer Gardens. And don't forget to visit the Christmas Market to pick up some Christmas decorations, sweets, or souvenirs. This place was so huge that we spent hours just walking and walking and getting lost and I don't think we've covered even half the place. There were shows that we didn't get a chance to see. There were numerous food items that we didn't get a chance to sample. There were simply many things that we didn't get a chance to do. Which is perfectly fine. This will give me an excuse to visit London again next December... read more
Fun, fun times complete with rigged carnival games and exorbitant prices! It's not quite my idea of a "Wonderland," but it certainly is pretty with all those bright shining lights and rides galore! Entrance is free, but once inside, get ready to deflate that wallet as there is much to see, eat, & buy. There are traders hawking everything from tea to jewelry, woodcarving to marzipan. The food is expensive and tends to lean toward the not-so-healthy, (that was an understatement, by the way), but it's varied and sure to please anyone not counting their calories. There are even a few options tailored especially for the Holiday Season, such as mulled wine, ciders, roast turkey with cranberry sauce and several others. *Spoiler Alert: Meat lovers go ga-ga for this place.* My favorite was the subtly-sweet Hungarian doughnuts made with cottage cheese and dusted with cinnamon sugar. Hunt them down. You won't be sorry. The games are typical of most carnivals and most definitely rigged. But if you're good at archery, you can win yourself an enormous stuffed Minion. The rides are super fun, but also very expensive to get on. And there's lots to see so come early, and bring your energy with you. It gets packed and loud. Seriously, though, bring cash. Even the ATM's try to swindle you in this place. read more
Face it, nothing says Christmas quite like stuffing your piehole with grilled sausage, riding what must be the world's tallest swing, then getting plowed at the Nordic Bar. Welcome to the weird, wonderful world of European Christmas markets. Somewhere along the line the Germans put their imprint on Christmas. Why they chose this particular holiday and how they got away with owning it all over Europe is a mystery. Perhaps nobody else wanted it or just maybe, nobody could improve on the ideas thrown down by the Germans. They're inspired, after all; someone was definitely thinking outside the box. Sitting at home in America I read about the many European Christmas markets but really had no vision for what they were. I wrongfully assumed they had something to do with Christmas, the baby Jesus, even St. Nick, when they're actually more akin to a carnival. In this case, a carnival with really good food, really good rides, interesting (and tasty) products for sale, amusing decorations, and booze. This Hyde Park-based Christmas market was one of two I hit up in London post-Christmas 2013 and this one was better by a long haul, mostly owing to its large size. You can see the tall rides from far off. Up close, this market is quite extensive and somehow I wound up hitting it up three times in one day. I enjoyed: * First, a giant grilled bratwurst, and hot, mulled wine. I also purchased an inexpensive novelty hand warmer and fake snow. * Second, a chocolate-covered marshmallow while waiting for my family who had ostensibly gone off in search of restrooms but returned with big steins of beer. * And finally, after dark, my daredevil son and I ponied up a ridiculously overpriced £7 each for an over-too-quick spin on the giant swing ride. We followed this up by closing down the two-story, rustic, dusty Nordic Bar where we tried to offset the price of the ride by purchasing many more reasonably priced drinks (full bar here). As someone not overly fond of what Christmas has come to mean here in the states, I'm happy that some German visionary invented the European Christmas Market. It's at least as meaningful as anything else I tend to do during the holiday season and actually much more fun and tastier than most of my current traditions. read more

What a fun place. We went on a Saturday evening and it was awesome, hectic, and massive! What is really neat is this place is so bright and full of lights that on a flight coming into LHR airport, you could see it from the air! Tons of rides, shops, and food to keep people of all ages busy. If you are adverse to crowds, you might want to come during non-peak times as walking through the crowds on a Saturday evening was pretty intense and suffocating. read more
If you are looking for a fun Christmas setting with family and friends, look no further! Winter Wonderland will likely fulfil all your wishes from a Christmas market and more! It's big enough that there's definitely things to look at. Quite a wide food variety. Of course, you can't miss the rides! I don't go on any rides, but I enjoyed the time roaming around with mates, and eating what ever comes by! Churros there for £5 you actually get a relatively lot larger a portion compare to other markets, and same of the hot choc there as well! Rest of the food, as expected it is not cheap. Think my only complaint is that rides cost too much, or else I would have gone on a few! read more

I went to London last Thanksgiving and everyone suggested I visit Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. This is a seasonal fair full of libations, diverse eats, rides and music. London is already pretty fantastic during the holidays and this fair certainly amplified those holiday feels. I tried mulled wine for the first time ever here and I've dreamt about it ever since. (Think hot wine, cider style). We also had what we call "hot whiskey" but it was some version of mulled wine but with whiskey and it was delightful. There was so much to do here, you can definitely spend a few hours looking at all the attar Fiona, riding rides and eating. If you're in London during the winter, this is a MUST. read more

This was certainly one of my highlights upon my recent London trip! So much to see and do just in this one place I have a few nitpicks, namely with the cattle herd into the entrance (the purple entrance? was this the only entrance for non-family?)... however, we were sucked in by the fun rotating carousel bar right near the entrance. We enjoyed a mulled wine on the slowly moving contraption before picking out a ride to go on and get a good overview of Hyde Park. We enjoyed some kebabs and then discovered the magical Bavarian village where we continued to drink up under the big beer house tent. There was a lot of great live music and we mingled with fellow travelers and locals who were all enjoying the night as we were. On our way out, we got some mac and cheese, which offered both warmth and appeasement to our happy little drunk hearts. I still can't believe this place had a full-sized rollercoaster.
