Forgot to update my review upon move out. Still 5 stars. Everyone working there that I've interacted with was friendly and helpful, maintenance was quick and easy, the 2 pools and jacuzzis were clean and available to use the whole year (when one needed to be fixed, they made sure the other pool was available). The move out process was straightforward and we got back most of our deposit (I think we forgot to clean one thing... oops lol) Also, it's close to the freeway. Easy 20 min drive to La Jolla shores. Very convenient location. Walk to Albertsons (if only it was a Sprouts! lol) I would recommend living here, especially if lakeside is where you're looking. We had a wonderful time living here for about 8 years and only moved because we needed a bigger place. read more

Wintercrest Village Apartments - Dog park. - Apartments Near Me - Lakeside, California

We've lived at Wintercrest Village for a year, recently signed another lease to continue our stay. Love the environment of the apartment. I have two toddlers and the apartment is very family-friendly, feeling safe walking around the complex. The surrounding are upkept and maintained nicely. The location is superb as it is right next to the stores complex w/ Albertson, Subway, Mexican food, and even a Vietnamese restaurant, a bonus for me and my Vietnamese craving. The gas station is right down there too. We are able to walk to the stores all the times. Nearby schools are great (from Preschool up to Middle School as far as I know), my two toddlers' school are 5 minutes down the street. This is the first time I live in an apartment setting and I do enjoy all the perks. The pool/jacuzzi that we are able to enjoy over the summer and the gym so we can do a quick workout, nothing fancy but practical and nice to have. And of course, for my first experience with apartment, the fast response from Maintenance whenever we needs some help definitely taking the stress off the need to find a Handyman on our own. read more

I love this place. This is my second time renting here. I rented back in 2015 and lived in an upstairs 2 bedroom, they are massive! I currently rent a downstairs one bedroom and they are still big. I have a daughter and our bedroom is big enough for a cali kind bed, her crib, a rocker and a dresser. The office girls are the best, they help with anything you need not to mention how kind and accommodating they are. The best part about this complex is by far the dog community. The dogs are so nice and are all so sweet, I feel like they really make the community a home and get the neighbors to become friends. The complex truly feels like a family. The best little community in lakeside! They offer 1 or two bedroom apartments They have paid laundry onsite as well as a loading station to put money on the laundry card they provide a compact gym next to the pool and hot tub combo. They have a room to rent next to the pool area for rent for parties, meetings or anything else you could imagine. I've lived here for 5ish years now and I've never had any issues with the neighbors or staff. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and address all concerns/issues as they arise. Been here about 13yrs and watched my girls grow up in this community. The place is very pet friendly which is a plus for our pet Lucas! Our girls enjoy the amenities like the pool, gym and the dog park. The landscaping is always nicely maintained and enjoyable on those daily walks. I have great neighbors who are respectful and make it easier to live here. Always nervous when someone new moves in but so far it's been good! My oldest daughter loves how attentive and compassionate the management team are to the elderly on property. Not sure if they still do things on holidays for the kiddos but my girls enjoyed those Easter events and family night pizza very much when they were small. We lived here for about 10 years before moving out this spring. While I wouldn't say I miss living here, I also wouldn't say I'm happy to be gone. It has it's major issues, but there are also things that make it better than other places (especially in its price range). The Good: -This is one of the more affordable options in the area, especially considering what you get for the price. Unfortunately, we moved in before they started renovating apartments, but I did get a glimpse inside my downstairs neighbor's when we were chatting and it looked great. -The maintenance crew was always a pleasure to deal with. Just the friendliest group of guys I've ever met. They were always respectful to my mother and me, and they were careful not to let the cats out. -The property itself feels pretty safe, as long as you keep an eye out for people speeding in the parking lot. I never felt unsafe walking through the complex, going to the laundry room, or down to the parking lot to get something out of the car at night. -It's literally right next to grocery and gas, plus two major bank branches. It's also walking distance to several fast food places. There's a bus stop right at the end of the cul-de-sac. -Having forced air throughout was nice (and IMO a necessity in Lakeside). The forced air is the one shining gem I actively miss about this place. The Bad: -We had several issues with our air conditioner, and it frequently clogged and backed up into our kitchen lights and ceiling, despite me changing the filter every month as instructed. We were told there was nothing they could really do to prevent it happening, as the debris came in through the roof vent and clogged the unit itself, not our filter. -They did noisy landscaping (leaf blowers and weed whackers) early in the morning, twice a week, passing under my window several times in an hour before finally moving on (once I was too awake to fall back to sleep). I keep graveyard shift hours, so this was especially unbearable. -Carrie, the property manager, was rude and unprofessional on several occasions. She was nice when showing the apartment and signing the lease, but once we moved in it was like a switch flipped. -Every summer we would get roaches in the apartment. Only in the summer. They went away after outdoor spraying, but returned every summer for the last three years we were there. This is the big "I will never go back" problem for me. It is not ok that tenants have to deal with a "roach season" in their homes. Not Management's Fault But Still Important For Potential Residents To Know: -There were always dumpster divers. Even when the city locked the trash bin with a bar, they just pried the lid up from under it. -The other tenants are inconsiderate and noisy. People take up all the washers doing what seems like 3 months of laundry all at once. Neighbors would have screaming arguments in the parking lot in the middle of the night. -The general area isn't the best. There was always graffiti on the sidewalks and bus stop at the end of the cul-de-sac. People strung out on who-knows-what would yell and swear at people in the McDonald's/gas station parking lot next to the complex. You couldn't pay me to leave the complex alone after dark. Overall, this isn't the worst place I've lived, but it's also not the best. I think our experience here (and the rating I gave them) would have been tremendously improved if they'd been proactive about pest management instead of waiting for the roaches to show up to spray (especially since they only sprayed outside, causing no disruption to tenants). I don't hold the quality of the area against them, but it is well within their power to provide adequate pest control to ensure their tenants don't have to deal with bugs in their kitchens. read more

After living here for many years, I feel qualified to provide an honest review, highlighting the great things about this complex, and hopefully, illustrating the areas for improvement. First, to the management, I would encourage you to consider sending out monthly Google surveys to collect feedback from the residents to better understand what is working and what is not. Areas of concern: The cigarette smoking is out of control. Based on my observations, nearly 1/5 of the residents are cigarette smokers. If you are unfortunate enough to end up in the same building as one of the smokers, you can enjoy never opening your windows or doors again. Even going for a stroll around the complex, you are accosted by the smell of cigarettes all hours of the day and night. I just want to put it out there, if the apartment complex began transitioning into a smoke-free community, they could begin charging more in rent, which seems like a better business idea to me. Next, the trash areas are not well-kept. It is not uncommon to see the areas around the dumpsters covered in trash from top to bottom. This could be in part due to the unhoused population who goes through the dumpsters at night. One solution to this problem would be to install cameras in the trash areas. This would help address any of the residents who are contributing to the mess. Another downside is the two small workout studios are not A/C controlled, so they easily reach 90 degrees in the summertime. Next, dog owners have no accountability for cleaning up after their pets. There is dog poop on the side walks, the turf, and the grass. Would installing more doggie bag stations help alleviate this problem? Maybe. Would installing more cameras around the property and following up on instances of this happening alleviate this problem? Hopefully. Lastly, the complex does not accept electronic payments. This means that once a month you are physically dropping off your rent to the front office. It's not the end of the world, but it is an inconvenience. Positive things about the complex: The management and office staff are incredibly responsive. If you submit a maintenance order, it will likely be completed same day. They take the time to listen to concerns and address them. The maintenance men are also very friendly. Next, this is an affordable community to live in. The grounds are well-maintained and the community is pretty quiet. Parking is included and visitor parking spots are scattered throughout the complex. Although I don't use the pools, the pools look very nice and taken care of. Finally, there is not "pet rent!" You pay a one time deposit for your pet to live in this community. With all of that said, I would recommend living in this community if you enjoy a quiet complex with great office staff. If the complex addresses the areas of concern, particularly the cigarette smoking, I would easily rate it a perfect place to live. read more

Multiple sick dogs on this property, believed to be from the chemicals they are spraying. Property management promises to post signs during spraying but never did after confrontation about spraying chemicals in front of our windows while people were at home. Walking around in a respirator spraying chemicals at the base of the building while our windows are wide open. Happens to contain glyphosate, and made by the same company just sued for a billion dollars for giving people a form of lung cancer from the same exact product in another bottle. Paid over 2000 dollars in vet bills and the fear my dog was going to die. Started with diarrhea and allergic skin reactions. Eventually one day he vomited blood and defected blood like the other two dogs in the area. He was on fluids and other medication for two days with internal bleeding. He had not left the property for 2 weeks before being hospitalized so exposure to whatever had to occur on thier property. After leaving this complex, his allergic skin reactions have disappeared completely and no longer has bowel issues. Crime is an issue also. Cars broken into, and weird people knocking on your doors in the middle of the night casing your apartment, claiming they are looking for people who don't exist. read more

DO.NOT.RENT.HERE! Neighbors reported me for never picking up after my dog but I have ALWAYS picked up after my dog. One time I was outside, Carrie and her cronies asked me to walk them where my dog would poop. We did but they never found evidence of me not picking up my dog or poop, in that case. After they wasted 15 minutes of my time with them, they claimed they have me on video. So why waste my time if they already have proof? They also sent emails to narc on your neighbors for discounts on your rent. I never felt at home here. I never felt safe. The neighborhood is not safe. You will hear gunshots, yelling, helicopters, kids jumping over the fences, etc. The laundry room never works. You have to wash your laundry, twice. read more

I truly couldn't speak more highly about Wintercrest village apartments and their staff. I feel very fortunate that my husband and I found these apartments. We feel comfortable and secure raising our son here. The office people are so kind and handle putting in any work orders with swiftness. The maintenance guys are beyond respectful and are quick with any maintenance repairs and never have to come back and finish any job as it is always done in one swoop. Every place has its pros and cons but I can whole heartedly say the pros out weigh the cons by A TON. read more

My husband and I have lived here for 3 years and started our family here. We feel the management and staff truly care for our family. Communication is key. We have had occasional anomalies occur (we broke something that needed to be fixed etc) and when this happened the manager Carrie was so understanding and came up with a payment plan for us. She also did this when we moved from our 1 to 2 bedroom and had to put out the difference for our deposit. During COVID I was laid off and they worked with us on occasionally splitting our rent into two payments. Most of the people who live here are friendly and neighborly. Maintenance is always readily available to help. I hope we continue living here for years to come. read more

Quiet place to live with great staff who are quick to fix any issues. Most of the bad reviews are people who don't listen, disregard them.

We lived here for 19 months and never felt welcomed or at home. Pros: - never had any major bug problems in our apartment Cons: -management offers rewards when you rat out neighbors who dont pick up after their dogs, no proof required. We received a written notice that we could be evicted after being falsely accused. Coincidentally, the accusation came a few days after management started offering a reward. -limited guest parking, which is often taken up by residents (against the lease agreement) or guests who stay for days straight (also against the lease) -laundry rooms that only have 6 washers and dryers, typically 3 or more being used by one resident at a time. -laundry cards can only be refilled using a machine in the front office, so if you cant refill your card during business hours you're out of luck. -there were often people coming into the complex and dumpster diving at all hours of the night. - there were homeless people regularly camped out in from of the complex. -on multiple occasions, police helicopters would go overhead with announcements that they were looking for suspects in the area. -managment made us move our flags, lower our flag pole, and take down our bird feeders by saying they were against the lease. We went around the complex and noted every other apartment that was breaking the lease agreement and management just shrugged it off without acting on it. -the apartment work is very sloppy. We had hair painted into our walls, cracked outlet covers, no molding around half of the bathroom floor, carpet had stains on the underside from previous residents, paint dried into carpets, dead ants in the window sill when we moved in. -our apartment had termites. The day after reporting them we were given a notice saying our residency was being terminated. When I pressed for a reason I was essentially told that they didnt need to give us one because we were only month to month. - the women in the front office, Carrie in particular, hide behind fake smiles. Never got any sense that they cared for us at all and at certain points even felt like carrie was targeting us because we had an ESA that was a pitbull. Although this complex offers lower prices than some, it is still not worth the price you pay. Spend the extra $$ and move somewhere that you will actually feel proud to call home. read more

We can only say good things about Wintercrest Village. We have been here just over one year and are so happy we chose WV. From the front office staff, Carrie, Lauren, and Lindsey to the maintenance staff and (the ones we know) David, Matt, Terry, and Moses) the service is always excellent. The few times we've needed anything the response has been immediate. The ladies in the office are always efficient, polite and really helpful. The neighbors are quiet, no problems with anything in the neighborhood and I'm really impressed with how the maintenance staff is on the mark all the time with keeping the trash areas clean and safe. This place discriminated against me and my service animal. I provided all of the necessary documentation to prove my animal was an ESA. They requested i get a more recent DR note and only gave me 3 hours to get this done before they put the apartment i paid $150 to hold back on the market. The manager was so bent on arguing instead of trying to accommodate my situation and disability. They are obviously viewing tenants as cattle, just trying to move them in and out read more

We have been living here for about a year and love it. The office staff is very nice and helpful. And you can really tell they like what they do. We feel very safe here and I feel comfortable walking my dog after 8 pm. I like how they have two pools. And they are heated too which makes it nice. Haven't been to the exercise room but it's nice to have on the property. Our AC wasn't working properly and they sent someone within a couple hours to fix it. I like the feel of the community!! I've lived in quite a few apartments in my life time and also owned a house. These apartments are amazing/ The staff is amazing. After moving in I have nothing but good thing to say. The apartment complex is clean and nice and has a good vibe. When we needed something fix maintenance staff has been right on it. Plenty of parking close to everything / Stores/Starbucks/ Places to Eat. Also this is a Family Community. Which I love the fact you can walk around outside and not worry about your neighbors and what there up too. I would recommend this apartment complex to anyone that wants a great community and wants a place were the staff actually care . We lived here for 2 years and really liked it (only moved b/c we bought a house). The staff is all very friendly and polite. I rarely went into the office (usually just when I was dropping off the rent check once a month), but they always remembered me and asked how everything was. Our A/C broke once and they had someone over to fix it within the hour. Same with our dishwasher. They offer a military discount. Or at least they did when we moved in. And it was a pretty good discount too. The complex itself is relatively secluded, so I always felt very safe walking around - even at night. The only real nuisance was the setup of the laundry rooms. They have a little electronic card for the machines that you load with cash, but the only machine to load the cards is in the front office - which closes at 5 every day. The laundry rooms only stay open til 10 and then they are locked. Personally, I found both of these things to be really inconvenient.... for those who may work 2nd or 3rd shift schedules, it made getting laundry done pretty difficult. We had cats and they mucked up the carpet pretty bad, so we were pretty sure our security deposit might have gone down the toilet. But, after moving out, they provided us with a itemized listing of the cost of replacement and we still had a good portion of our deposit returned to us. Something I was very pleased with, considering I hear that most complexes will do everything within their power to screw you out of your deposit money. read more

It's very quiet. I love that most of the units are so close to the pools and they even have an exercise room. Can't say they're very big but they're still very easy access; And available all day. We have lived here for three years now and we have seen a lot of people come and go, those that stuck around are definitely friendly, although I have run into some that wont even smile at you. We just moved in a few weeks ago and so far we are loving it! I love the large community, centralized AC, heated pools and jacuzzis, exercise rooms, layout of the 2 bedroom/2 bath and the fact that they do NOT charge pet rent (just a reasonable deposit!) and water/sewer/ trash like the apartments we lived in before. I feel like the rent is very reasonable for the amenities here! The ladies in the office have been great with the exception of one individual. She was really nice while we were filling out paperwork to move into the complex, but now that we're in she's been rude and unfriendly. Odd, but whatever! We prefer to deal with the manager, Carrie, anyway. She is always so nice and asking how everything is going and to not hesitate if we ever need anything. Our AC unit completely broke yesterday and maintenance gave us a portable unit to use for the rest of the day and then replaced our unit today! Awesome maintenance service! The pool is always clean and the maintenance guys clean and skim the pools every single day! Love how they are so clean here!! For the complex being a pet friendly community, I've noticed that most dog owners are really great about picking up after their dogs but I have almost stepped in a few doggy land mines! I love that the complex has tons of walkways that are perfect for walking your dog late at night or on those early mornings. We get to stay in the complex so it's safe and my dogs can enjoy a nice 30 minute walk if I go throughout the entire complex. The only thing missing in this complex would be a small off leash dog park! Oh and washers/dryers within the units, but hey you can't have everything all the time!
