My fiancee and I attempted to go apply for our intent to marriage license. Online, all it said that we needed was our IDs and both of our presences at the Town Hall. I should know. I checked at least once a week for the past two months. So much was my surprise when we entered the entirely empty office and are told that it would take two whole weeks for them to process a single email and to make an appointment to complete the state application for a marriage license. Massachusetts already has a three day waiting period so we'd be SOL. The absolutely unhelpful clerks- all three of them- wouldn't look my fiancee and I in the eye as they turned us down. They couldn't help us, even though when we got there, they were gossiping like mean girls in a COMPLETELY EMPTY office. Mind you, every single town around us has the appointment requirement explicitly listed on their website. The whole experience was awful and the clerks were rude. DO NOT GO HERE.

They've managed to keep it's exterior intact while updating the interior, and it all just looks awesome. The main hall inside is big enough for medium-sized events. They held the first Octoberfest there last fall. Elections are held here, many public services can be found here. It's a great office in a beautiful location with free parking all around.

There's apparently two places you can get married, on floor 2 with marriage certificates and on floor 6 with the city clerk. On floor 2, you get married after waiting outside with those waiting for birth certificates, death certificates, and to pay parking fines, so it's a nice mix of people. We arrived early for our appointment and we were able to go in as a group of 11 people to witness. The woman who married our friends was nice, cordial, and friendly and the room was very simple and functional. All in all, the officiating took about 10 to 15 minutes with photos and everything. Don't forget about the "Married in Boston" backdrop on the 6th floor right as you exit the lifts -- it's cute and chalkboard-y!

Old City Hall was Boston's third city hall and served as City Hall for 38 mayors between 1865 to 1969 before it was converted to office buildings and a restaurant in the 70s. Currently, there is a Ruth's Chris Steak House in the Old City Hall. You can go into the building, although we just stayed outside in the courtyard, taking photos of the statue of Benjamin Franklin and of the Democratic Donkey. I've never reviewed a courthouse before, so five stars?!…read more I came here and attended the case on Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College back in 2018. So I can only speak about the experience here for the bench trial. Security is strict, and you must leave your cellphone with the front desk. After you tell them which courtroom you are going to, you then go through security. It's airport style, and make sure you have your photo ID with you. If I remember it correctly, the bench trial was on the fifth floor. The elevators were pretty fast. The bathrooms were clean. Actually during one of the days, the fire alarm went off so we had to exit through the side staircase. Outside the room, you get a beautiful waterfront view, it's very pretty! I heard such good things about the cafeteria and now I wish I had a chance to try it. That said, Seaport has transformed so much and there are endless options these days! Love it!

iawtc. I've been on…read moretwo "field trips" as it were to this courthouse for law school so far this year and there's so much to talk about. The court rooms are bright, pretty, with stenciled wall motifs and domed ceilings and colorful carpeting and light wood. They're not intimidating at all and have an old-school town hall meets grandma's living room feeling. I think the idea is to create a sense of community, the idea of a place where the people's voices are heard. Hard to articulate it better than that. It's literally an architectural embodiment of all the floofy ideals they keep telling us in law school that nobody actually listens to. It fits, of course, that all the judges I've met so far (and that's considerable since one of our field trips was a Q&A panel sponsored by the First Circuit in which a bunch of the circuit's top judges talked to us) are magnanimous, paternal and...sweethearts. I can't believe it. Not intimidating at all. It was very much, "You're welcome to come by and watch a trial in my courtroom any time!" Of course, they're all also scary brilliant and classy and composed and articulate like whoa. My second field trip was a sentencing and I think I witnessed the first experience of my life where I've literally seen someone "be merciful." It was even heartwarming. My friend and I had to hold back tears at the end and, keep in mind, we're LAW STUDENTS. LAW STUDENTS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO HAVE SOULS. Then again, the federal courts are supposed to be the "ivory tower" of the American justice system. But, all in all, my experiences at Moakley have been nothing if not refreshing. When I walk in there I really do feel like this is a house of justice. And Brandeis p0wns. Even the US Marshals manning the metal detectors are adorable. I hope if I'm ever indicted in federal court I get to be a defendant at Moakley! Also, subsidized Sebastian's cafeteria is delicious and this building may very well have the best chunk of waterfront real estate in the entire Boston metropolitan area.

The Everett City Hall has been around for quite a while in this location. The building is a bit…read moredeceiving from the outside. When you walk in you think you just stepped into a 100 year old facility.. it's a grand entrance with an amazing stairway set up with flags information and the veterans chair. at the top of the stairway, there were elevators with the doors and Boston with brass name plates and design very intricate. You also have the reception area so they can give you information and directions. The staff in the different departments all seem to be very knowledgeable. Please remember the staff is not in charge of the rules. They are working a job so if you do not qualify for something, please don't give them a bad review as I've read the previous reviews. The City Hall handles a lot of different functions. So please determine if you need to go to the tax office engineer, etc., etc.. the building for an older facility seems to be kept in pretty clean. as for parking, I am not sure if they have a parking lot outback, but I parked on Broadway. Make sure you feed the meter during metered hours. All in all if you need assistance for the city of Everett, I think they will be able to handle your needs. Just go in and inquire and please be polite.
