I love Wired! Not a spin studio where you dance on a bike. The instructors are serious cyclists and will challenge you. The smaller class sizes are great for feedback and improving form. I appreciate that the majority of staff are women and/or BIPOC. The classes are more diverse than other fitness classes in DC and welcomes all people. I credit them for helping me become a stronger rider and improving my confidence biking around the city. I moved across town and can say this is what I miss the most. read more

As a new resident to Eckington, it was nice knowing this spin studio was going to be conveniently located a block from my house. I had moved from Penn Quarter where SculptDC was located right outside my condo's front door. So this was nice not having to venture too far for a spin class. The three main differences I've noticed so far with Wired vs. Sculpt are the following: 1) Instructors - there's only 1 (maybe 2) instructors that work at Wired. So there isn't a wide variety of spin offerings/techniques. I've also noticed that the instructor doesn't ride "with you" during the class but mainly walks around and voices commands/instructions. For me personally, I find it helpful to follow along with the instructor to ensure I am spinning at an appropriate pace, otherwise I'm left guessing how much energy I need to be putting in. Following the beat of the song definitely helps and keeps me energized/motivated. 2) Hours - good luck finding a consistent class offering at Wired throughout the week. Meaning one day there will be a morning class and that's it. Then the next day there will be an afternoon class and that's it. Another day maybe an evening class and a morning class but no afternoon class. This makes it difficult to maintain a consistent workout schedule throughout the week. This is also a huge reason why I don't yet feel comfortable paying for a membership when you don't quite know when the next course offering is. 3) Equipment - the equipment between Wired and Sculpt is pretty much the same in terms of high quality spin bikes, but with a nod going to Wired for their large tv screen (left hand side of front facing wall) and projector (displaying video on the right hand side of the front facing wall). Both screens show the groups output as a "team" in terms of RPMs and overall Energy, while also showing your individual "rank" or "place" in the class in comparison to the other riders. This gives you a little boost in your workout if you're competitive like me and want to stay ahead of the pack. Though it is odd that one of the displays in an actual TV and the other is a projector? I'm hoping Wired will soon get better (with age) and offer more classes each day, along with more instructors. The building itself is very unique and has a lot of character. This provides a lot of potential for Wired to capitalize further on the space and really make the experience from opening the door, to riding, and exiting an amazing and memorable one that makes you want to return again and again. read more

This is a wonderful local cycling studio in Eckington that I need to go to more often! Leti, the owner, is awesome and really gives you a workout; every time I've gone to her classes, I've been sore for a couple of days afterward, which is a good thing. I don't normally go for leaderboard-style cycling classes because I'm always dead last and it's discouraging, but Leti motivates you, makes sure you're doing the workout/poses correctly, and always has a fire playlist. Plus, the cost is more affordable IMO than that of another larger studio, and I'm more inclined to help support local businesses. read more

Sometimes I feel like yelp was specifically created so that people who manage to get out of work on time and rush to a spin class, only to have an incredibly disappointing experience, have a way to process their emotions. 1) The class started and ended seven minutes late. Nothing makes me more insane. Plus the instructor didn't really seem to be paying attention - she really only realized that we were nearing "the end of class" because one of the other people called her attention to it. 2) The class was horribly boring. It basically just consisted of keeping your rpm at x for 90 seconds, then x+2 for 90 seconds, then x+4, etc., then going up a hill, and then doing it again. I could have just done this by myself. 3) seriously I could have done it by myself, since there was no energy in the class. 4) and hey I can measure this because they have the tracking system that places like Ride DC or Flywheel have. Normally I burn about 450 "energy" in a class. In this class I burned 375. That's an enormous drop. I'm giving it two stars because it wasn't actively horrible - I did still get exercise, but I will certainly never be going back. read more

This is my favorite cycling studio and it doesn't hurt that I live across the street! Unlike other studios I've been to, I feel the focus is more on technique and improvement over time. The instructors are clearly experienced and I've enjoyed the classes I've taken with all of them. There's a main screen at the front of class so you can see where you stand, and I find that motivating. At the end of class, you get an email with all your stats so you can track your progress. Wired also offers TRX and yoga, so it's a great all-in-one studio. And supporting a local, women-owned business is important to me and my coworkers. They set up a class for our office and everyone had a blast! read more

My review is based on a class I took on 1/4/14. The studio offers the latest technology for indoor cyclists (and spinners). I loved how light the bikes felt. I also enjoyed the disco style lights during our class. The studio was large enough that you didn't feel you were riding in your neighbor's lap but small enough that you felt like you were riding as a group. The one (1) thing that designates this studio from other cycling studios are the instructors. It was apparent that the people who teach at this studio love indoor cycling and understand how to make it the best work out for each individual. Although, I only took one (1) class; I stayed for a little while to observe the 2nd class. Both of the teachers had a great spirit and picked music that complimented people of all fitness levels. As an avid spinner I could tell that they understood the activity and guided their classes on how to use things like heart rate and RPMs. I had a couple of minor suggestions. It would be nice if you could purchase water or Gatorade. The shower(s) the studio has planned will be a nice addition. If you come from work only one (1) bathroom was available to change in. (I took a class on Saturday morning so this wasn't a big deal.) The designated bins for dirty towels (which I think are complimentary) should be labeled. Overall, I had a great experience and plan on going back in the near future. read more

I attended this class on 2/22/2014 and the experience was a fairly good one. Pros- 1. Our instructor was Juicy J. he was very fun and very energetic 2. The music was very good and the instructor asked us specifically what we wanted to hear so he could cater the class to the majority 3. The videos while you are spinning are very motivation. Especially when you see a perfect body gyrating in front of you...that is the goal correct? 4. Easy to find, plenty of parking 5. First class is free. Giltcity.com had very reasonable packages..... 6. Plenty of bikes so you can come with a group of friends and be ok Con- 1. I have been told that juicy J no longer works there. I have not tried the other instructors but I plan to check them out 2. I typically go to Zengo cycle in logan circle but wanted to support a new business. I like locking in my shoes. To me it is a better fit. You do not lock in your shoes at wired but they are secure. Again, not a big deal. Just my personal preference I guess. 3. Other studios I have been to have been a little more advance when it comes to the variety of exercises you can do while spinning. We used no weights and I think the repetitive up and down had a lot to be desired. I get it, but the variety is what makes it fun as well. 4. Lockers had no locks and the space to change is somewhat tight but they have two bathrooms that accommodate the space complaint. 5. I am also use to a packed class to keep the energy going. I think this place is just starting up but it was only a handful of us in there. The class before us has like 5 people. All in all I will go back but I'm not sure if I will become a member. I will have to check out the other instructors to see if this is the place for me. Again, we had a fairly good experience so I would check it out. They are still fairly new so bare with the process/management. read more

I am seasoned spinner and I must say that I've learned more about technique, power and endurance from Wired than I did from 5 years at LA Fitness. I joined Wired during their grand opening and sincerely enjoy these classes. The $109 monthly unlimited class pass is money well spent for sure. Leti Long is awesome and you can tell how much she cares about our experience. There's water and towels for everyone during class. Some of my fave classes are "party til you drop" with Anthony Leonard, anything Leti teaches and "serious Sunday cycle" with Claudette Wells. There's metrics displayed during the class and you receive your stats via email after class. How awesome is that? read more

This is the best workout and spinning instructor anyone in DC and the surrounding could hope for!! Leticia blends science and passion for a workout that delivers fun, sweat and results. She's taught for years in DC, but this new mix of technology at Wired helps her talent really show through. As a triathlete, avid cyclist and music snob, this is my #1 place to go for a spinning workout. I also just tried the TRX combo class and left on a workout high. Forget the other classes-this is the best you'll find in DC! read more

I love Danielle's classes at Wired! She's an amazing instructor- so motivating! Her classes are always fun and challenging. She varies the choreography, moves, and music regularly. The core workout at the beginning of class if very effective as well. I'd recommend her classes for both seasoned cyclists and beginners unsure whether cycling is for them. Wired is a great little gym overall. It's cheaper and more personal than other DC gyms. And there is ample street parking. Finally, each class you can follow your stats on large screens in the front of the classroom, and you can track them over time on the website. read more

She has standards (not gimmicks), great music, and knows the bike, the body and how to maximize your time peddling. I follow her anywhere. Leticia and the other hidden gem of DC is personal trainer, Elizabeth Brooks, are partnering on a core training/spin class Wed and Sunday. If you want results quick, try to get a spot. Pushing the body for balance, endurance and strength... Elizabeth focuses on form and is guaranteed to get you challenging yourself past current plateaus. She loves arms looking good for spring... strong backs, core and legs so we can feel good everyday being our best selves. You won't find two women more passionate and personally invest in their students than these two! The studio is in an up and coming area you'll appreciate the clean, modern space, the laughter, team spirit, hard workout and feeling of personal accomplishment after any one of Wired's classes... This is my first time using an indoor cycling studio. I usually ride outside but the extreme weather this winter had me looking at this unique alternative. The studio is very spacious with the latest technology and equipment. It measures watts, which is very important for a serious rider. It doesn't compare to outdoors but as long as it stays this cold I will continue to come back. It's a great workout and prepares me for the summer riding season. read more

Wonderful studio. I am a long time cyclist but recently took my first spin class in over a year after having a baby four months ago. This was one of the first things I've done purely for myself and it was so worth it. I signed up for the Serious Sunday class with Claudette because I suspected I'd taken a class with her at WSC in the past. Sure enough, it was the same Claudette and she was great as I'd remembered. As you might imagine I was nervous about leaping back in but she's a wonderful instructor and the studio is great... Lots of natural light from the windows, cool AC, right off the Met Branch Trail if you care to bike there. The bikes were great, brand new and with lots of data to track your effort level. I signed up for a ten pack class, that's how much I enjoyed it. Give it a try! read more

I somehow missed the last decade of fitness trends because I'd never taken a cycling class before coming to Wired Cycling. I've taken classes from three teachers so far-- Danielle, Anthony, and Leti, the owner-- and I LOVE this studio! Small class sizes mean lots of help from instructors when you need it, and a chance to meet your classmates. As a distance runner, I was surprised at how challenging the workouts are. And I love having stats both on my bike and on the tv/projection screen... instructors tell you how hard to push based on RPMs and other stats so you know exactly how hard to work (and when to back off) to get the best benefit. I tried a Super Fancy Cycle Studio downtown just to compare, and to me Wired is by far the better deal. For half the price, you get a science-based workout, quality instruction and a sense of community with other students. I'm so excited to make Wired Cycling part of my training routine! read more

I'm on a grand tour of DC spinning studios, and this was the first class that I took after a 2.5 year hiatus. It's tucked into Eckington, in a nice-looking house on the corner and walking in, I was pleased to find a brand new, high-tech studio that was cool, provided water/towels and really nice bathrooms, and was laid back in nature. It's not the SoulCycle feel - the room is bright with sunlight, no darkness/neon lighting. People were chatting with me and offering tips, I was introduced to the leaderboard, and the spin instructor was very friendly and kept it interesting with routines and great music. It was a true spin class - no arm work, just a hard ride that left my legs sore. The only reason that I won't be back is just that it's too far for me (no car + have to change metro lines to get there = too inconvenient for my lazy self), but I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a true spin class! read more

Thank goodness for this place! After trying Zengo cycle and failing miserably due to my lack of coordination and bike dancing abilities, I have been on the hunt for a cycling studio that offered the same work out without the choreographed moves. I used class pass and signed up for the hip hop/R&B endurance ride and it was awesome. Leti the instructor really knows her stuff. You can tell that she is invested in her students and pushed us without screaming at the top of her lungs like the instructors at some of the other studios. The class was a really good workout and I liked the fact that I could track my progress against the other students using the score board that was shown on the large TV monitors around the room. The studio itself is located inside of what looks like an old house. It's clean, spacious and inviting. Although there isn't an official locker room, there are several bathrooms, one of which includes a shower, and lockers to store your belongings. So if you are like me and lack the coordination it takes to survive and a Zengo or Soul Cycle class, try Wired, you won't be disappointed. read more

i took a TRX/cycling class and enjoyed it. the instructor was very personal and made sure you understood the exercise. the music was very upbeat. the computer was having issues but that wasn't a big deal. i am always looking for variety spin classes so i liked this one. the studio is non pretentious and i'd recommend it read more

I went to the Party til you Drop class on Wednesday, May 7th with two friends. All of us were trying cycling for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The owner and her husband were very welcoming, and the instructor, Anthony, was awesome. I've been intimidated to try cycling for a long time, and expressed that to him, and I felt like he made it a point to help me and be supportive without babying me (or not being attentive to the rest of the class). The other students in the class were also very warm, in the sense that when they knew I was having difficulty, they'd motivate me with a smile or kind word. My only complaint was that I felt like the bike was too tall for me and didn't feel like I fully grasped how to change the tension in the bike. With regards to the height. I'm short, I don't think much can change that, but I will try to go to one of the beginners classes to learn how to use the equipment properly. Overall, I'm definitely going back. read more

I wanted to try out Wired, not because I'm an avid cyclist (I'm actually terrified of riding bikes in the city) but because it's the only exercise option in my neighborhood. I am sold - the beginners class that I attended was supportive, helpful, and a thorough workout. Even though you can see your stats on the wall along with everyone else's, the entire class had a tone of teamwork, not competition, that was helped by our excellent instructor. I can't say enough good things about Wired! Well, I guess I can and I'll try to say them here... Wired rocks because the instructors are energetic, well-informed, have great structure for classes, and are attentive to the students. I've taken classes with Danielle (Mondays, she does a great incorporation of core workout with handbells), Anthony (Wednesday and Saturday classes), and Leti (various times). All are superb and use the RPM and watts data system to help you maintain a good workout and make progress in improving your strength and endurance. This is technology well-used, not just for show. Leti is the owner as well as an instructor and she is the heart and soul of Wired. So glad she has brought a much needed exercise outlet to our neighborhood. It's easily accessible by bus and bike especially, just off the MBT and with a cap bike share station down the block. On street parking is also easy. Wired is also affordable and you can pay by the class (a major deal for a much better workout compared to SOUL) and buy classes in 10 packs or more. Finally, I really appreciate that Wired welcomes diversity of all types and you'll find an open atmosphere, with people of all sorts of fitness levels, age, athletic proclivity, orientation, ethnicity, and gender. read more

I got introduced to Wired via a meetup cycling group I'm in. The bikes there are top quality and kept in amazing condition. They could be a little more adjustable, but they are about as good as you find in a commercial spin bike. I've been doing the winter cycle training classes at 8 on Sunday's. This is not your typical spin classes. These are 2 hour cycle training classes on spin bikes. The bikes give all the normal data (speed, RPM) plus work with both polar and Ant+ heart rate monitors, and provide real power measurement. You can get summary data mailed to you, record the data on a USB stick, or pair your Ant+ cyclocomputer to it to get second by second power, RPM and HR. The sessions make sense and have a goal. Leti does a good job of both motivating and working with people to improve form and technique. I've done a cycle training session on Computrainers, and this compares very favorably. read more

I have been going to Wired for a month, and so far my experience has been awesome. The energy in the studio is warm and inviting. The classes are faciliated to adjust to each individual's fitness level. I love the passion that Leti(owner) has for cycling and creating an awesome workout enviornment. I have had the opportunity to participate in classes with many of the instructors at the studio, and I always have a great workout. Each has their own style and technique, but I always leave class feeling like I have had a great work out. The instructors push you to work hard, and the technology in the studio allows you to monitor your Watts, RPM, and ranking, which helps me push myself more. They also send out an email of your results after class, which is a feature I really enjoy. My overall experieince at Wired Cycling has been great, and I love its convenient location! read more
