Although gyms have slowly been opening up during the pandemic, I knew I wasn't ready to head back. So, I was on the hunt for a bike as I missed indoor cycling so much. I had my eyes on the Peloton (even pre-COVID), but couldn't bring myself to pay so much for a bike without actually trying it out. When I found out that the Bethesda Peloton showroom was finally opened again, I immediately made an appointment to come in and try out the bike. Before you are able to try the bike, your temperature is checked. They currently aren't allowing people to try the bike with cycling shoes, so you just cycle with the shoes you have on. You get fitted on the bike, pick a class, and off you go! The bike itself was comfortable and I enjoyed my 12 minute ride. Definitely come prepared to work out because you will sweat! Note that you do have to wear your mask while cycling, which isn't too bad. Justin, my sales specialist, was super friendly and made my ride seamless. I like how I didn't feel pressured to buy the bike. He answered all my questions (I had quite a few!) on and off the bike. He showed me how to use the monitor, as well as adjust the bike, and gave me my bike measurements (seat depth and height, handlebar height) for future rides. In addition to the bike, you could also try out the treadmill. The store has Peloton apparel as well. Parking isn't too bad, with metered street parking and a couple garages within walking distance. If you are on the fence about purchasing a Peloton, I suggest making an appointment to come in and try the bike for yourself. If you are military or a front line worker, Peloton is currently offering The Essentials package for free. I'm ready to ride!! My Peloton bike was delivered today and I could not be happier. Brian and Ryan gave me a call when they were on their way and arrived well within the delivery window. As promised, the bike was assembled outside and both Brian and Ryan were wearing the appropriate PPE (COVID-19 precautions). They placed the bike in my preferred location and got me all set up. Peloton has given us the worst experience of any company in recent memory. We ordered our bike+ in early October, got a delivery date of Dec. 29 - which was canceled on the 28th ( we postponed travel plans for this delivery). It was rescheduled for tomorrow (Feb 11), but was canceled due to weather. Yes, there is an inch of snow expected - but nothing else is affected but our peloton delivery. I bet their store will be open tomorrow taking money from people, but the company can't seem to deliver. Unreal. We've also received multiple sappy templated emails from the CEO, describing a situation that was counter to what the store told us about the original delivery issue. Very disappointing. read more

I have been enjoying the Peloton app for almost a year and really enjoy using it. I never felt like I needed a Peloton as my bike worked just fine just without the specific stats and leaderboard etc. I went to the store just to see if I may want to upgrade in the future. I didn't know you had to make an appointment to test drive the bike or tread but luckily they had a slot and I tried it out, browsed some of the apparel and viewed the tread. I visited the Bethesda site about 2 weeks ago. I'd used the app and liked it very much on regular gym based bikes. I used to run a lot and be self-motivated. Now motivation lags, but the instructors are definitely motivating. The sales staff was helpful and gave me a private room to try out the Peloton bike. They explained the software and showed me how to put on the bike shoes, which were new to me. They showed me the major adjustments to the bike and made it fit properly. I did a 20 minute ride and found it a great workout. Better than the gym bike and better than the elliptical. My pulse got up like it did when I ran and trained hard. And the seat wasn't bad either. I've heard differing things about the delivery. My bike was delivered yesterday by two helpful gentlemen. They set it up. Adjusted the seat and handlebars. And showed me absolutely every permutation and option of the software. I was shown how to add people. How to tie it to Facebook, Stravia, Fitbit, & Apple and Spotify Music. They even told me their favorite workout leaders. There really was not an option missed. And I was I think about their third delivery of the day. They were helpful and enthusiastic. They could not have done a better job. Make sure you have the emails sent by Peloton available and register before they come. And your Internet wifi password. They said I was ahead of most people on this front. But everyone should do this, and then they can spend their time on what is important. Explaining the bike and the software... So off I went and did a beginners ride with Alex Toussaint and then a cool down which was harder than the beginners ride. I had some left so I did a 30 minute ride with Matt. And I'm not sore. I did use shorts with bottom padding and a seat pad. And I can't wait to get home and use it again tonight. Great machine, great software, great sales team and great delivery. Expensive..but they expect you to likely drop your gym membership. read more

James was helpful and knowledgeable and friendly and patient and everything you could want in a salesperson. There was no pushy urgency, just helpful information. We went to our appointment at the Peloton store in Bethesda and spoke to James. He's great! We told him we wanted to talk about the Bike at that appointment and the membership another time, and he was more than cooperative. He carefully fit the Bike to each of us, making fine adjustments when necessary. I'm kinda small and I was worried I would find the bike too big and cause injury, which is what happened on the last piece of exercise equipment we bought. Then he wrote us each a hard-to-lose card with our settings. He let our appointment run way over, so we were able to segue into a conversation about the membership, and he told us everything we needed to know about membership, including using our membership on our daughter's Bike when we visit her and vice versa. Talking to James was a great experience! We bought the Bike on the spot and we're looking forward to delivery. read more

I've been using the Peloton app for some time to do strength training and cardio but missed spinning classes and the community they bring. After seeing some friends purchase and recommend the bike, I set up an appointment at the Bethesda showroom. After a great walkthrough of the bike, membership features, and accessories, I left the appointment happy that I'd taken the time to do my research before spending $$ on a big purchase. I was only home for an hour before I called James, the sales specialist I worked with, to order the original bike and some accessories! I'm looking forward to my order arriving within the next two months and can't wait to hop on the bike. Since I have to select a rating I'll have to choose a 1 star but really don't deserve any. I don't know about this store in particular but ordered our bike 17Oct2020 from Columbia store and are still waiting. We are currently on our 4th delivery date and have taken off work 3 times for the 3 previous delivery dates which were canceled less than 10 hours from delivery windows.... When contacted CS and even the CEO/LEADERSHIP TEAM we just receive canned responses and that there is nothing lord they can do about moving up our delivery date. I've also been told that our bike is at the warehouse in Beltsville MD on a van that is not operating due to lack of crew and that my bike can not be loved to a van that is making deliveries. I have to wait my turn for my bike to be delivered. I told the CS rep If my bike is In fact at the warehouse sitting on a van then I would have expected it to be moved to an operating van and be delivered why keep it at the warehouse to sit for 7 weeks? The CS rep backtracked their statement to say it's not at the warehouse. It is unacceptable for any business to treat their customers with such a lack of respect while older orders are being rescheduled snd newer orders being filled let alone the lies which are being told. Peloton has no way of tracking orders to actual equipment at the warehouse and fills orders as they see fit and not in order of purchase date. When ordering a premium product I would expect premium service but have received anything but that. Yesterday I witnessed 3 people in my neighborhood alone get their deliveries yet have been told I have the earliest delivery date in my area. Having to wait 18+ weeks while being told at the time of purchase it would be 4-6 weeks is unacceptable. Set realistic delivery times instead of overpromising and underdelivering. There is a social media group on FB with over 10k customers affected by delayed deliveries yet Peloton still is allowing the sale of their bikes/treads when they clearly can't deliver. So distasteful. How can any company allow this to happen? read more

Ever since the debacle with Soulcycle's homophobic, xenophobic, and overall bad response to the controversy surrounding their investor. I asked for a refund and received it. I will not support a company blank on values. So I did research and came across the Peloton. I have done research in the past and the whole experience has been fantastic. BEWARE! I purchased this bike along with 2 x pairs of shoes and weights for my wife on September 18th and it arrived around November 12th. Probably spent somewhere around $2,400. It arrived broken. The metrics would not display anything on the screen. The technicians (JB Hunt) did nothing to troubleshoot the problem. We call Peloton and they overnight a cable, still did not fix the problem. We call Peloton again and they send a sensor, but we must wait on a technician to install it on December 3rd. I later that day call back because I'm not confident the bike will work and request a brand-new bike. Peloton sends a bike frame. It arrives November 30th. JB hunt takes the screen from the broken bike and puts it on the frame. In the process they broke the clip on the back of the screen that holds the cables in place. I noticed it after they left. The bike still did not work, and the technician told me I need to call Peloton and they're only responsible for delivery. I call peloton, they tell me JB hunt should have troubleshot the bike. I'm at a complete loss now and I have zero confidence in Peloton because now we're at the mercy of a JB hunt to come deliver a new bike. I call peloton later that day after discussing with my wife on what we should do and we thought we should get in touch with management. The employee "escalated" my call twice only to be told they escalated the situation back down to the employee. I'm extremely insulted at this point, apparently my problem was not worth managements time. It's the least peloton can do for us at this point. I ask the employee to escalate it again and then I'm left on hold 30 more minutes and no one picks up. In total, I was on the phone for over 2 hours. I hang up and call back and demand a refund and to cancel our subscription. My wife is absolutely crushed and was looking forward to riding the bike. She talked about it every day. I was prepared to try again but Peloton management which I doubt exists couldn't be bothered to take my call. Throughout the process we requested Peloton to expedite the shipment but told us we would have to call JB hunt. I'm completely baffled Peloton did not do everything they could to fix this situation. Peloton employees tried to blame JB Hunt but last I checked, I bought this bike from Peloton, not JB Hunt. Peloton also informed us JB Hunt will only deliver and they do not perform troubleshooting due to covid reasons. However, one of the technicians came into my home not wearing a mask. Just excuse after excuse. When I finally was able to cancel and get a refund, management still couldn't be bothered to reach out to us and just approved the cancellation. MY WIFE STILL WANTED THE BIKE! Is that Peloton doing everything they can to help their customers? At this point I'm relieved we're getting our money back because clearly this product does not work, and the customer service is abysmal. The bike is currently in my basement and we have schedule with JB Hunt to come pick it up. So who knows when I'll get my $2,000 dollars back. read more

Not sure about this store in particular, but we ordered our Peleton about a month ago. It was set to be delivered yesterday. The crew did not show up, which is really unacceptable since my wife took off lunch to meet them (their window was 12:00 to 2:00). When I talked to customer service, they said the delivery crew attempted to call me, but they had the incorrect phone number in their system. Never mind that they didn't try to email me even though they do about 3 times a day it seems. When we looked to reschedule, the earliest they said they could do was Dec 1. I told them this is amateur level customer service. I heard "we are sorry about that" about a thousand times. We then canceled our order and got a refund and are now happily going with Nordic track. When you are spending thousands on equipment and a lot on a monthly service subscription, you expect a certain level of service. Instead, this was the lowest form I have ever seen. I look forward to never doing business with Peleton ever again. read more
