As good as the food was Alfredo gave us his full attention and suggestions. The drink and wine service was outstanding. With our group size we were able to really work the menu. We tried both of the Schiaciattas(focaccia)my favorite was the Bianca. For appetizers we loved the squash blossoms and ordered 2. The blue prawns were also amazing and ordered 2. We then turned to the pastas. After a big discussion we ordered 4, linguine al lemone, rigatoni arrabbiata, cacio e pepe, my favorite and we needed another for the table. Maybe I took too much! Also the spaghetti with clams. Still more! We've had the New York Strip Steak before which comes sliced so we can easily grab a slice and ordered it for the table and it was perfectly cooked. We saved room for dessert and had pistachio gelato, tiramisu, lemon cookies. What a wonderful evening. The room is spectacular and we were there on a Wednesday when Navy Pier has fireworks. What a view! You have to look at the picture of the team taking our group picture!

Knowing that reservations open only two weeks in advance, I booked ours as soon as they became available and requested a window table. The restaurant certainly lived up to its reputation in terms of design. The modern décor was elegant and tasteful, and the soaring 44-foot ceilings and dramatic 40-foot windows created a spectacular setting. However, the tables were arranged rather closely together, and by the time we left, even several tables set up in the hallway outside the bar were occupied by diners. Remarkably, the restaurant was completely full despite it being a Monday evening. The biggest disappointment of the evening was not getting the window table we had requested. The hostess initially led us to a curved semi-booth facing the open kitchen, where the heat from the wood-fired grill was intense and servers were constantly rushing past to pick up dishes. I declined that table, and we were offered another 3-person semi-booth farther into the dining room. Although this area was noticeably quieter and more comfortable, and we could at least enjoy views of the impressive windows, it wasn't the window-side experience we had hoped for. Our server, David, was professional, friendly, and attentive throughout the evening. When I asked for a recommendation for a non-alcoholic beverage, he suggested the NA Aperol Spritz ($16), which was beautifully presented, pleasantly sweet, and very refreshing. My husband and daughter each ordered a glass of Prosecco ($36 for two). To start, we shared an order of Schiaciatta Bianca ($11) and Gamberi in Salsa Verde ($29). The focaccia was light, airy, and fluffy, while the prawns were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. For my entrée, I chose the Scottadita di Agnello ($66). The lamb chops were available in only two temperatures, either medium rare or medium well, and I opted for the latter, which turned out to be the right choice. The meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. If the edges were browned to slightly crispy, then it would have been perfect to me. The portion included four lamb chops. I shared one with my husband and still had one left to take home, leaving just enough room for dessert. My husband ordered the Branzino ($89), which was a generous portion. He described it as "OK," though in his vocabulary, that generally means it was quite good. Our daughter chose the Linguine al Limone ($29) and absolutely loved the handmade Tuscan pasta. The portion was on the smaller side, but it turned out to be just the right amount for her. She let us each have a bite, the pasta was light with a nice lemon flavor, it's quite delightful.  For dessert, we ordered the Tiramisu ($19) and a slice of Pistacchio Cake ($21), which David had recommended. As expected, the restaurant brought us a complimentary anniversary dessert with a lit candle. However, we were pleasantly surprised when David and another server came with 4 desserts, including a complimentary Cioccolato Gatto (Devil's Cake, a $21 value)! David explained that the extra dessert was their way of making up for our not getting a window table. What a thoughtful and nice gesture! All the desserts were very good.  While the Pistacchio cake slice was delicious and had a nutty flavor, it's relatively small and not worth $21 in my opinion.  The Devil Cake was rich and scrumptious, the dark cherries that came with it were fresh and complemented the cake very well, and it was a big portion.  This might be the first time that we were too stuffed to finish all the desserts.  It was very tempting to take the leftover Tiramisu and Cioccolato Gatto home, unfortunately, they were just too messy at that point and hard to box. The total for dinner was $429.51, including the tip. The restaurant also added a 3.5% surcharge. We considered asking to have the surcharge removed and adding that amount to the tip instead, but because the serving team had been so busy all evening, we decided not to. We hope that most of the restaurant surcharge ultimately goes toward supporting the servers. Restaurant valet parking was $36 + tips with validation.  That's reasonable for the area and was convenient. All in all, we had a good and memorable anniversary dinner, I especially loved the sweet ending.  So, 4.5 stars rounding up to 5.

I grabbed the 2 meat, 3 side special which included: stewed chicken, jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. There's a solid amount of food and I'm going to be eating on this over the next two days. There's rice and peas were incredibly flavorful, moist and had a hint of spice. The stewed chicken's skin was falling off! That's how tender it was and I love anything with bell peppers and onions. The cabbage was solid with great crunch. Sometimes it can get too mushy, but this didn't. The plantains were just right!! Great palate cleanser as I transitioned to the jerk chicken! And the jerk chicken was a hit!!! Good amount of spice and flavor! And juicy! I also had extra jerk sauce on the side. Hmmmm I honestly enjoyed both chickens and would say if you're unsure of which to get, just get both... you'll definitely order from here again lol I ordered through uber eats and naturally was PRAYING that my order was correct and it was. A nice hefty serving and of course I also have a slice of the caramel cake. Mannn this slice of cake is so dang delicious. The two miles that I run tomorrow for this will be so worth it! I had never been to the brick-and-mortar location until now. I stopped in one Sunday afternoon to a restaurant that was not busy on the inside. I noticed there was a steady stream of individuals coming in for carryout. Nevertheless, I had a sit-down so that I could try a few items. I ordered the Belizean appetizer sampler. This came as panades, garnaches, and conch fritters. I liked the panades, which were corn patties stuffed with buffalo fish. They were nice and flavorful. The garnaches reminded me of Venezuelan tostadas. I think that what was a miss for this dish was the drizzle of ketchup. Since I stopped using condiments from grocery stores, the flavor of such tends to ruin dishes for me. I liked the conch fritters. I would order those by the bagful just to have for snacks. My main dish was the stew chicken with rice and beans and a side of plantains. Surprisingly, this was more like baked chicken. There was no hint of cumin, cloves, or garlic. There were no tomatoes. There wasn't a sauce or a gravy. There was flavor, of which I give them that, but the same stew that I've had in Belize and in my Belizean friends' home was not served here. It very well may be that the dish prepared here simply differs from that which I have had before. It wasn't a bad thing. Not everyone prepares every dish the same way.

This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had…read more We came here hoping to make some nice family memories. My dad is 80 years old and currently dealing with health issues, and he absolutely loved Res Lobster back in the day. We hadn't been back in quite some time because our last visit wasn't great, but we decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, things started going downhill the moment we walked in. While waiting to be seated, I used the restroom and immediately noticed how dirty it was. The bathroom smelled unpleasant and looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. I brushed it off because we were there to enjoy time with family and didn't want to start the evening negatively. We then stood at the front for at least 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, despite the restaurant not being busy. The entire place had a strange odor, but again, we tried to overlook it. After finally being seated, it took another 10 minutes before our server came to the table. She wasn't rude, but the service definitely wasn't attentive. We ordered a seafood boil for two. When the supplies arrived, we were given only one bib and one crab cracker. Then came the plates--and they were absolutely filthy. There was food residue all over them. The server was standing right there as I handed the dirty plates back. When our seafood boil arrived, the tray used to dump the boil onto the table was also dirty. We had to ask for that to be taken back as well. At this point, we were trying our best to stay positive and not make a scene because we wanted to enjoy our family dinner. Then came the food itself. The seafood boil was lukewarm and barely seasoned. The shrimp trio My daughter's father order d was also Luke warm- the baked potato we ordered on the side with the entrees - was brought to the table in a to go container ?! As we were eating, we found a long hair mixed into the food. Not a small hair--a long strand. To make matters worse, when we first arrived, we had seen a kitchen employee walking from the restroom area back toward the kitchen with long, uncovered hair. Finding a hair in our food after seeing that was beyond disturbing. The final straw was the bathroom situation. My father has medical issues and frequently needs access to a restroom. When I took him to the men's restroom, it was out of order. I checked the women's restroom--also out of order. I asked staff if there was another restroom available, and I was told we would have to walk across the street to Walgreens. A restaurant serving seafood boils and alcohol with BOTH restrooms out of service and customers being told to leave the property to use a bathroom is completely unacceptable. Dirty bathrooms, dirty plates, dirty serving trays, hair in the food, lukewarm and flavorless seafood, slow service, and no working restrooms. This experience was disgusting from start to finish. We will never return.

We've been to every Michelin-starred restaurant in Chicago, many of…read morethem multiple times, and we regularly travel specifically to eat at great restaurants around the world. We're not casual diners, and we understand that even excellent restaurants can have an off night. Unfortunately, Atelier was a major miss for us. For more context, we dined at the original Atelier in March 2024 and absolutely loved it, so we came in genuinely excited. First, the positives. The service team was wonderful. Truly lovely people. Delightful, attentive, cheerful, professional, and clearly trying very hard to deliver a great experience. No complaints whatsoever there. The reserve wine pairing was also excellent. Some genuinely unique finds. One rosé in particular made us skeptical when first presented, but it ended up being fascinating and paired beautifully with the dish. In fact, each wine pairing was thoughtfully selected and worked extremely well. Now, the food... and unfortunately, this is where the experience fell apart. The opening four amuse-bouches were flat, boring, and uninspired. The oyster was completely overpowered by fried onion. The "jambalaya" was essentially a bowl of mildly spiced rice. Then a salty muffaletta bite and some pickled vegetables. None of these felt Michelin-worthy, nor did they generate any excitement. The next course, beets, was another miss. They were oddly hard, and again, there was nothing particularly special or memorable about the dish. The kanpachi was very good. But let's be honest, raw fish is hard to screw up. The sauce was nicely done and elevated the dish, but it still didn't feel like a standout moment. The tortellini was fine. Perfectly competent. A salty broth, decent execution... but again, no wow factor. Nothing that made you pause. The walleye itself was excellent. Beautifully cooked. But everything accompanying it felt like it was actively sabotaging the fish. The beans were bizarre. . . some soft, some hard, some crunchy, but none particularly enjoyable. We were told there was cornbread and fermented elements in the dish, but those flavors were completely lost. The smoked duck was very good. No notes. Then came a duck wonton-style preparation, which was also tasty, but structurally this made no sense in the progression of the meal. That should be an appetizer or an earlier supporting course, not the crescendo of the protein sequence. In this style of tasting menu, you expect the protein finale to be something bold and memorable. . . A5 wagyu, quail, lamb, something deeply savory that leaves an impression. Ending that arc with what amounts to a fried wonton felt like going out with a whimper instead of a roar. Desserts didn't recover things. The first was a dry cake. The second, a version of king cake, was slightly better but still entirely forgettable. Then the ambiance. We tend to gravitate toward food-first restaurants with real energy... places like EL Ideas, Schwa, and even the original Atelier. Open kitchens, a sense of movement, a little grit, authenticity, personality. Places where you feel like you're somewhere interesting. This space just felt . . .blah. Wood paneling that gave off a tired 1970s feel, overly understated to the point of feeling generic. Now, sometimes that works if the food absolutely delivers and becomes the focal point. But when the food is average, the room starts feeling average too, and the whole experience just falls flatter. The theme of this menu was: The Crescent City/New Orleans. Maybe other menus here are significantly stronger, and maybe we simply came at the wrong time during an off concept. But based on this experience, this was a big disappointment for us, especially given how much we loved the original Atelier.

Atelier delivered a solid experience, but one that ultimately felt a bit restrained. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with confidence, while the wine pairing stood out as a strong addition, enhancing several of the courses nicely. When it came to the food, each dish was good and thoughtfully prepared, but many courses felt too simple in execution. The flavors were clean and pleasant, yet they often lacked the depth, layering, and progression you hope to experience throughout a tasting menu. With each new course, I kept anticipating a buildup--something bolder, more intricate, or more surprising--but that moment never quite arrived. The menu did offer an enjoyable journey through different regions, which added variety and interest. Still, while the dishes were well-balanced and enjoyable, they didn't reach the level of complexity or memorability expected at this level.
