You can ride a horse, a bike or your legs. You can hear symphonic melodies made by 100s of frogs and see tons of wild life, did I mention there are sand dunes? "The Oak Openings Region is a globally rare ecosystem composed of over 130 square miles in Northwest Ohio. The land consists largely of oak savanna and grassland prairie. It is considered by The Nature Conservancy as having a similar ecological importance as the Florida Everglades and is one of the 200 "Last Great Places on Earth"." It is amazing. Check it out!

We observed years ago that the restaurant should have been developed as a second floor property to properly view Lake Erie. Let's hope that renovations are in order... Soon. Meanwhile a first rate decorator may do wonders with this restaurant. The Lodge and State Park merit multiple visits. Caveat: Lodge is recommended over cabins - Actual Lake Erie views. Several years ago, our Scottish Terrier accompanied us to a cabin, and found mice is walls - she kept us up all night. Let's start with summer... pontoon sun deck with diving board, dock with diving board, water slide... Plenty of room to lay out. Just about anything under the sun can be rented for maximum enjoyment.. paddle boards, boats, paddle boats, floats, rafts etc etc. all reasonable prices. Here with family? A roped off sandy beach area with a couple floats for the kids to enjoy. Also- ADA water toys to help those that need help getting into the water. A nice touch! Did I mention an ice cream cart that drives around?! Or if you don't want to wait... a snack bar with all the options... water/pop/gaterade and snacks... including ice-cream. Want to host a party? There is a barn. Or a pavilion and plenty of upgrades to make the day fun including grills to rent or comfortable lounge chairs. Rentals are endless.... Anything and everything to make the day great. Wouldn't be surprised if you could purchase a bathing suit at this place. Not into water? Plenty of fun activities on land. I was walking thru the trails also on a beautiful fall afternoon last month with the fall foliage in full effect. It was a beautiful sight with yellow and orange shades along with greenery that was coming toward the end of season. It was a very refreshing walk as I was making my way to a nearby sushi restaurant. The breeze was a little cooler and the temperature was around 60 degrees. A beautiful autumn day.

There's a park that backs up to the fish pond at Saline Fisheries Research Station, and I find it…read moreamusing that it's called Wilderness Park, being that it's on the southern edge of downtown Saline. It's two acres of wilderness right on the edge of suburbia. You'll see a strip of mowed lawn along Willis Road, where it dead ends into Saline Milan Road. That's the northern edge of the park, which goes all the way back to the pond. Park on the street, or else in the gravel parking lot at Willis and Saline/Milan, opposite Fifth Corner. There are two paths into the wilderness. There is a faded map to help you chart your course. The trees are tall, so it's a good place to walk the dog on a chilly, windy day. If you go all the way to the shore of the pond, there are some benches, in case you want to sit and meditate on nature for a while. The pond sees a lot of action: mallard ducks, Canada geese, kingfishers, egrets, herons, etc. Most years, I have seen a pair of swans raise babies.

Rude and incompetent staff. Staff refused to return my credit card. They insisted I was not…read morereturning the tanks that I used. They had me down for 3 tanks instead of 2 tanks. I repeatedly explained to them I gave back the only 2 tanks that I used. They insinuated that I was holding back a tank. Staff had to go and recheck paperwork and make a phone call to someone. While waiting for all this I walked over to the changing room to put on some dry clothes. The rooms looked nasty, so I walked back to get my card. This whole ordeal took about 20 minutes or so. I was understandably irritated by this time. I finally got my card back with no apology or compensation for my inconvenience. This is no way to do business.
