Disappointing and Questionable Experience: Be cautious with this law office. I had an initial phone consultation where I explained the details of my case. Based on that conversation, I was told my situation warranted a meeting with an attorney and was asked to pay a $200 consultation fee. I paid and came in for the meeting the next day. However, after just a brief conversation, the attorney informed me that there wasn't a strong enough basis to proceed. It felt like my situation hadn't been properly reviewed, and no helpful guidance or resources were provided--despite the firm recommending I pay for the meeting. I had a precise need for legal help, found James Dal Bon's unbelievable 5 star reviews and "25 years relevant experience" to be exactly what I needed, he claimed to offer "free consultation", his AVVO hourly rate showed $150-$350 with two different phone number listed, called the number he picked up, described him what I was looking for, he took my number to call back and discuss, focus of his "free consultation" was to figure out how I can pay, quoting an hourly rate of $450/hour, asked him about his advertised $150-$350 hour, he asked for $5,000 upfront, saying he won't do anything unless he's paid, I repeated my legal help need again, stating that writing something shouldn't take that much time, but agreed if he split in two payment as I did not have the money and asked that he makes himself available until the document is legally formatted and executed, he then backs off from splitting the fee into two, drops it to $4,000 but want it all upfront, sent me link to make the payment, gave me a link to upload my files to his "box" files which gave him access to my computer and personal file which he downloaded to his computer. What James Dal Bon did after taking my hard earned money, was rubbery, he vanished, no longer quick answering my follow up calls, he was suppose to produce the document in 7 days that was agreed upon at the first conversation, but nothing, waited until last minute of distress, frustrated follow ups, he finally asks me to email him document in word so he can write in it, document was already in his box files, why was he asking to email it to him just days before it was due, when he send me what he did, was and still is appalling that State Bar ought to take a look, when I asked him where is the rest of the document he said "do it yourself" that he doesn't have any time, asked him can you provide me like all lawyers your time and cost, he said, he was on a fixed rate so didn't keep records of his time.
