A competent, honest attorney that understands that his client is the most important person. I was in a very complex financial situation due to an illness. I spoke with one of his staff who set up an appointment. The meeting exceeded my expectations as he was very frank and gave me factual and relevant guidance. His office is state of the art, using the latest in technologies to research and file necessary papers. His level of expertise was very apparent when I finally had my day in court. All paperwork had been submitted correctly and in a timely matter. Other attorney's during that day had issues in that area. During this process, David and staff always were available to answer questions. Many times, the staff had the answers and I didn't even have to talk to David. My husband and I had spoken with several attorneys about a complex and complicated cases, even having a 20 year bankruptcy attorney in the area tell us that she was very unfamiliar with our type of case and felt uncomfortable handling it. I found his law office on yelp (which has 2 hidden reviews by the way - you have to make an additional click on the page to read them). This was my first encounter/consult with a lawyer re: this matter and so I was a bit apprehensive, however Mr. Henshaw was truly professional, thorough, and honest. Despite the fact that I ended up not requiring his services (which he recommended based on my situation and after my consultation), I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his law office to other folks in need of his services as he definitely is a great and honest resource. If need be (but hopefully not for my sake) in the future, I definitely would seek Mr. Henshaw's services to assist with my legal matters. While other lawyers take all your info, probably sell it to third parties, and then refuse to give you information without exorbitant consultation fees - these guys returned a call I had, and gave some quick advice (extremely quick, low impact) I basically just needed a simple question answered. They just answered it, said good day and that was that. If I am ever in SJ and need a personal injury lawyer, I will be contacting these guys just on the basis of them being nice guys. I am so happy that I went to David Henshaw for my Chap 13 Bankruptcy!!! During the entire Bankruptcy process, his entire staff have shown true professionalism yet down to earth and patience. From the first phone call to his office, I felt that this law firm was different. I had gone to a few other attorneys but did not feel comfortable about the services. It seemed like the other law firms, most of the interview was done by the paralegal. I did not even go into the other attorneys office, only the paralegals. Finally an honest attorney. I had a complicated legal issue involving business, and family. The case had gone on for a long time and I had gotten very discouraged. I had spoken and interviewed many lawyers, most were more concerned about possibility of large settlement and how quickly we could setter than were concerned about details of the case. David is extremely different. His staff is positive, he is knowledgeable, fair, and most of all extremely competent. His rates were very affordable, and he was able to take on my case and treat it as if it were the only case he was working on. I had a really bad experience with lawyer Henshaw. I came in for a free consultation to file bankruptcy and I took the credit counseling as he suggested before we could move forward. After I finished the course, I called in as he asked me to let him know and he was busy, so I understood. I called back the next day and the receptionist transferred me to him and I left him a message and never heard him back. They have very poor customer service and care. He delayed my bankruptcy filing process. It is a waste of my time to come to his office to get his help anyway.
