I'm writing this partly to bring up the number of stars after the last reviewer recommended using…read morethe temple parking lot as free Getty parking. It's too bad that Yelp is used for a purpose like that. (Besides, Getty Center visitors are turned away by the parking lot attendants, so it's poor advice.) In any case, it's a great Reform temple with wise and loving clergy and teachers, and the religious school is excellent. Years of membership have advised my opinion.

I was on the phone with my sick wife when I was confronted by a crazed security guard. He was extremely rude and threatening. You would think being in a temple and on religious grounds that you would have the highest respect. I asked to see Rabbi Lisa. She was a great disappointment. She calls herself a Rabbi but she acted like a immature woman. No serious apology. Be aware of this institution that calls themselves a temple. Many other schools to join. I did speak to the director Abigail G. Spiegel. Very nice director that did apologize. Still no excuse for the negative experience I relieved. The Director should train her Rabbi's and security better. This isn't a temple just a building with selfish agenda.

I usually don't write a yelp review on churches, but I have decided to write this review on this…read morechurch that I LOVED sooooo much and attended somewhat regularly and found peace! In my opinion being kind, respectful, and nice should automatically been granted and given to people. Especially to the ones that work, preach and welcome you into their beautiful church. This review is specifically about father Mike and the others that work the community. He is very condescending, pretentious, and not very kind. PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH father Mike!!! People at this church are not very nice, nor are they kind or friendly, They walk away from you or and don't care what you have to ask or say. I have already experienced this at this church at least 5 times by different people...including father Mike. If they don't know you and you are not their favorite or a regular face that they see, they will ignore and silence you right infront of you. If that's NOT RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL, then what do you call this kind of BEHAVIOR?? AND THESE ARE CHURCH PEOPLE? PART OF THE CONGREGATION?? BE NICE, KIND AND RESPECTFUL to everyone and treat everyone with kindness, respect and fairness. And it doesn't cost anything. If they started charging for kindness...they would shape up and get their acts together. Yesterday was Easter Sunday and I called around 10:45am to find out if there was a mass and the time for the last mass. A man answered the phone with an attitude and anger in his voice and said YES, IT'S EASTER. I said I know it's Easter, but what time is the last mass??He then was more curt, short, rude, and abrupt with his one word answer and said 12. To top that off he hung up on me before I got a chance to say thank you. This happened few times with me at this church with their people. Totally UNACCEPTABLE!!! Is this how GOD wants people to treat one another?? The church itself is beyond BEAUTIFUL, BRIGHT and I felt in love with it instantly. That is when I started going there in the beginning. I truly loved going there for the past 6 years. Now, I feel like I am on pins and needles when I have to walk in. I feel like I am NOT WELCOME HERE at St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church. But that's ok. God sees everything and watches everyone from above. I believe it is time for me to find another church to go to where I am much more WELCOMED!! I wish I could have given 5 stars, but for now after all this that I have witnessed and experienced...2 stars will do until they change their attitude and behavior. One star for the beautiful church, and the second star for the garden and outside of the church. The architecture. Last but NOT least, when it is time for donation and accepting other type of donations/offerings such as, clothes, shoes, food etc...they put their fake smiles along with their poker faces and accept my donation/S HAPPILY with OPEN ARMS.

Each week, our daughter was asked to come with money to pay for school-wide events, usually to buy Dollar Tree junk food -- a transparent effort of the school to raise much needed money. Volleyballs (the only feature of the "athletics department") are misshapen, lopsided and ripping at the seams. What's more, every water fountain is broken and students are discouraged from using the restroom In groups as a way to avoid high water and power bills. Aside from the more obvious signs, the lack of funding is even clearer behind the scenes: the school holds a "Teachers Matter" fundraiser because the school can't afford to pay its teachers what they deserve, and we parents are asked to contribute even more to teachers' paychecks. In fact, almost everything about the school is a fundraiser: Parents Night Out, pep rallies, school plays and the Cultural Heritage Festival. The only thing more lacking than funds at St. Tim's is the school's leadership. We're so happy we finally left.

I regularly pray for Lanai and for all of its amazing staff and parent volunteers…read more I just attended my Kindergartner's "Winter Concert". I was delighted to hear a program packed with myriad Hanukkah songs, from "Hanukkah o Hanukkah" to "Kindled by the Flame" (which references Hanukkah and Menorahs in every verse, complete with wiggling candle fingers). And of course the classic "Happy Hanukkah". All of these songs were absolutely beautiful, especially because each song was presented INTACT, without censorship. But what was ugly was the School's systematic censorship of "Christmas". Not a single time did the word Christmas get sung, and it was not by accident. The concert was so thoroughly de-Jesused that even the great "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" was bastardized to "Have yourself a Merry *Winter Season*"! I am the father of a family of church-going followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and Christmas marks His birth into this world. That said, I don't expect our public school to be teaching my kids Christmas hymns. But if Lanai staff ARE going to teach my son religious songs, then they cannot discriminate against Christians by deliberately avoiding and excising any mention of Christmas like it's Kryptonite. I cannot imagine the uproar if the entire music program had been filled with expressly Christmas songs and the closest thing to mentioning Hanukkah was "Happy Other Winter Thing". If Lanai is low-key trying to be a public Hebrew school, that's not what we signed up for. As a public school Lanai must be accountable to all its students, and to Federal Laws prohibiting religious discrimination.

There are many enrichments that Lanai pays for Out-Of-Pocket. Sone of these include Computer Lab, with macs PE With an amazing coach and Science with an amazing teacher. Overall these bad reviews are all lies, and if they are true all of the bad teachers are gone. Another reason why this school is amazing is because of the principal. Instead of the sone principals in other schools just sitting down and waiting in a office this, instead he takes care of the school by talking to students sone times watching over the students and he also helps direct the school amazingly while doing all of that. Overall this school is amazing and I would recommend enrolling right now! -Hugo 4th Grade 2023

The co-op nature of the school allows for deeper relationships with parents by volunteering together and with your kids and their friends working "on the floor" during the school day. It would be easy to fall into the trap of thinking you might not have time for that type of dedication, but trust me, it was one of the most joyful aspects of seeing my kids grow up. If you want a "drop off and forget it" type of school this isn't it. But if you want to be involved in your child's development and create lasting relationships with the teachers and other parents definitely apply. We've seen first hand that kids who leave playgroup and go into kindergarten are some of the kindest and thoughtful kids who see their classmates as a community. When we moved into the neighborhood we heard from neighbors that we MUST apply and it's the best place to honor a play based preschool approach in the area. And they were right. So happy with our decision.
