I applied all the DIY tricks in my pocket, to no avail. I was hopeful it could be saved because I was receiving text messages...but concerned bc screen was unresponsive. At TechFix. They offered immediate "while you wait" support and a reasonable fee to replace screen ($60 - parts and labor). Technician tried 3 different screens, but still could not get phone to respond. DX = fried motherboard. All hope lost. But, when I asked the fee, they said ZERO dollars. No charge for their time. Then, they kindly pointed me to swappa.com for used iPhones. A perfect event would have included repaired iPhone, but darn, this was "near" perfect. Great folks. And I got to meet Fenway, their little Boston Terrier. (No question here about fan.)

Fixing the laptop itself only took about 30-45 minutes, so pretty speedy service in my opinion. They also gave me a lower estimate than I originally thought, so high was a pleasant surprise. The only reason it was obvious was because the screen was so dark she could not see to use her iPhone. It looked as if the lighting was on the lowest setting but even turning on the backlight didn't make a difference. They should've never charged her and if I was there, I would've called the police on them. They either stole her original screen or broke a piece inside the phone when they replaced the microphone. The associate said that he could replace the screen with a third party screen (which would make it look original and bright again) but she wanted her phone in the original state she brought it in (original Apple part) just with a fixed microphone. They still charged her over $100+ to fix the microphone and now she has to pay $200+ to get the screen fix that they ruined. My mother's iPhone screen was not cracked and brought in its original condition. I recommend everyone to take their Apple products directly to Apple for repair. She also should've known because on her way out, there was a gentleman who claimed he bought his phone from this company recently and it stopped working. There was another woman who was complaining that she recently bought an iPhone from this company and when she went to register it, she couldn't because it was a "stolen phone". These are all red flags and I don't recommend going to this business for iPhones or iPhone repairs. I'm disappointed for my mother because she is older and was taken advantage of. They should've never charged her and tried to lie and say her phone came in that way when it didn't. They are definitely scamming people and it's sad when it's older people who are not technology savvy.

I told him exactly what the issue was, to bypass the bit locker. He didn't need to diagnose it. I was told the repairs would take a week. One week passes, I get no call or update. I called and was told that it was a lot of work and he needs another week. Another week passes, I hear absolutely nothing, no follow-up call from the company. I called 2x more and was THEN told that they are really busy and backed up and needed another week. Another week....is all I could get from him as an update. Its been 1 month and a full week and he still never fixed it, nor did he ever call me to provide an update. I finally had had it and went to pick up my laptop and not use his business. He had taken some time to even locate my laptop when we asked for it back. I should have been more aware when I came there, as the store is literally stuffed from front door to the back and ceiling with electronics, in disarray and barely any space to walk in there. I should have been told at drop off how backed up they were, that it would take a while to even get to my laptop from the start. Had I known that, I never would have left it there to begin with. They also refused to give my $40.00 deposit back. Im guessing they need it more than I do. I do not, recommend this business at all. Unprofessional and deceitful regarding repair time frames and never reaching out to give me an update, not once.
