Thank you, thank you! We are so grateful we found BSP in 2021 as visiting other places left us uneasy. However, walking into BSP and meeting Ms Carmela and the other amazing teachers, left us with a sense of relief. Then when our kids started, the teachers kindness/support towards all the children and staff's great communication with parents only reinforced our decision. Both our kids graduated from BSP! Our most recent just this last Fall. Our kids loved their teachers and friends. It's like a little family that was created with the kids and parents. I took a few online science classes in 2019 after learning that the graduate program I was applying…read moreto did not accept science credits over 5 years old. Meaning, I had to retake A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, and chemistry. Ughh! Why? If its the same field as my undergrad? Last time I took those courses was my sophomore year of college back in 2005. Alas, it had to be done. Rio salado is strictly an online college but It's still within the Maricopa community colleges. This location is just one of the many testing centers they have throughout the Valley but I would frequent this one for midterms and finals because they are open Saturday. Tuition is only $85 per credit hour vs $800 at ASU. If you have never taken higher level science course before, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT do it online. It may seem convenient but the courses are just as intense as in person courses and you don't get the advantage of having a lecture. All studying and learning is solely on you. Another thing to consider; the labs are online and not hands on which in my opinion is vital for A&P and microbiology. You will get pictures of human cadavers and microorganisms but it is not the same. Especially when learning the muscular and skeletal system. There is nothing like seeing the insertion and origin of a muscle and feeling each notch and process of a bone in person on an actual cadaver. You don't get to gram stain bacteria either but you better bet they will test you on the process extensively. I had retained most of the info from the first time I took those courses yet the amount of hours studying I had to put in was still significant. Plus, if you have a question you will have to email your instructor and it may take a few days to hear back from them. I especially liked my microbiology instructor Allison. She truly cared and gave great feedback when grading labs and essays. For me, this was an affordable and convenient stepping stone towards my educational goals. All while allowing me to raise a family and seek (and later maintaining) full time employment.
