It's pretty spacious and holds tons and tons of wide range sports memorabilia. It was very busy in here and was pretty difficult to get some service as there was only 2 guys working. The high end hockey cards have it's own room / section in the back corner. We had to ask to find it. It was really fun and exciting like a kid in the candy store! Service was great just maybe a bit long as they were taking care of other people. However, they were really nice and kind. Prices: a bit too high .. I mean yes they gotta pay for rent and staff but still .. the cards were 10-30% more than the market value a bit hefty for me. They seem willing to negotiate if you ask them but it was still super pricey for certain things. It looked like they were having some sort of boardgame playing event with kids when we were there. They had tables set up and an employee was explaining the rules of some game. We browsed quickly, but from what we saw they had a good selection of board games. I saw Dix-it, Ticket to Ride, various versions of Fluxx, various versions of Munchkin and other cool games. Prices were comparable to other game stores. In addition to board games, they also had videogames, including older stuff like original Nintendo and Gameboy! They had some figurines and also lots of different types of dice. Since staff seemed to be busy with the event, we were left to our own devices to browse, which I prefer anyway. They did thank us for coming in when we left though and they seemed friendly. It's a cool store for games if you're in Kanata North. It's in a strip mall with lots of parking.

There was a desk parked in front of the door, and someone waiting by it. They let us know that while you could take a walk around, they preferred you know exactly what you were looking for and they'd fetch it for you. Completely understandable, considering the small store and the state of the pandemic. No problem on our end, whatsoever. We let him know we weren't looking for anything in particular, and would just come back another time, and thank you, but he was adamant that there must be one particular thing we'd be looking for. He was getting weirdly accusatory about it, when we had not at all been aggressive towards him. He asked which particular fandom we liked, and my husband said "pretty much all of them - comics, D&D, mini painting-" to which the shopkeeper responded by interrupting, with no levity at all, "that's what someone who's not actually a geek would say." The hell, guy? Rather then try and defend our extensive nerd cred with this uppity troll, we told him we'd rather spend our money elsewhere and happily visited The Comic Book Shoppe, fighting the urge to swing by on the way back with our purchases, shouting "BIG MISTAKE", Pretty-Woman-Style.

When we walked in at around 6:30pm on a weeknight, the entire store was deserted but there was a tournament of some sort going on. Te same thing happened the last time we came. I'm all about having tournaments, but these instances majorly hindered the business. The first time we went in there was literally no staff at the counter. Even after waiting, no one ever came and no one asked us if we needed help. The second time we came, there was someone behind the counter, but when we asked for help he said "I can't help you, I don't work here," in an incredibly rude tone. I couldn't believe this! We then wandered around looking for the board game we were on the hunt for, and still, no one seemed to be available to help us. On our way out the door, someone told us to "have a good night." When we asked him if he actually worked there, he said yes and asked if he could help us. He told is he had the game we were looking for, but not the version we wanted because "no one carries it anymore." (Note: we found it down the street at Mastermind Toys - ha!) Unless you enjoy the tournaments they host here, I would avoid this place. That is, unless you check their schedule and make sure not to go during one of their events.

My partner and I are big board game players so I decided to hold his 30th surprise birthday party…read moreat L'as des jeux. Everyone who attended (ages 13 to 42) had a blast! Caro (one of the owners) made the booking process really easy and helped with getting an event liquor license so the adults could have a couple drinks. She also went along with the surprise planning and gave my partner and I a tour of the facility so he'd walk into the party room unaware. Our animateur (game host), "FM", was a lot of fun - he started us off with a variety of group games so everyone could comfortable with one another and warmed up for some more challenging games. We were allowed to bring in snacks and drinks, and the venue provided coffee and tea for us. The boat room was really cool inside - the whole store is well decorated - and provided privacy from other patrons. In addition, the cost was totally reasonable compared to other area game venues I've been to in the past. Thank you L'as des jeux for making my partner's 30th a huge success!

Well, they had to go back and check to see if they had juice... they did not. I asked for just the bubbly instead, she had to go back and check again. How do they not know or keep things on their menu in stock? Oh well, they had the bubbly so it was okay. For food we ordered a pastry and a croissant sandwich. The biscotti and pastry were delicious. For some reason, they decided to panini press the croissant sandwich. What the heck, who would do that? Why didn't they ask? Tasty sandwich, but completely ruined due to crushing the croissant. We were expecting it to come straight out of the case and at most maybe microwaved to warm it, not just destroyed in a panini press. Cool vibes, nice atmosphere, food is good, tea menu looks amazing. But, the staff don't seem to have a clue to what they are doing.
