This is a great and wonderful place. I have been there to help arrange getting some narration and…read moreon-camera work done there for a documentary I have been working on. The staff there - most is all volunteer there and they are so kind and very professional. If they don't get it done right the first time they make it perfect before the end of the day. Thank you for all you do!

My husband directed part of a friend's music video here and I tagged along for the shoot. Jerry was…read moreour friend's contact and was extremely helpful. He gave us a tour of the facilities the day before the shoot and we got to see all that Fairfax Public Access has to offer. There is a large empty studio that we used complete with a huge green-screen wall or choice of black, navy or tan curtain (I think those were the colors). They also have a set that has a full kitchen--just like when you think of Food Network shows like Rachel Ray. I personally don't know all the terminology for all the stuff in there but we were all very impressed by everything. I felt that the cost for renting the studio to non-members was quite reasonable but I have no basis for comparison. We also brought in our own lighting and cameras but were able to use the studio lights with some assistance. Jerry let us know that members who take certain classes to train on the equipment are able to use the studios and everything free of charge (the membership costs $26 according to the site and you have to pay for the classes). Definitely look into this place as an option for studio rentals among other things.

I've had the pleasure of going into the studios 2 times now to appear on Good Morning Washington,…read moreand it was such a pleasure each time. First thing! Parking: There is a large parking garage under the building and the attendant is pretty friendly. He'll ask you how long you're planning on being there, and for me, it was always like 1 hour so he would park me somewhere real close. Second thing! There is a little cafe across the street that opens super early. So if you're on Good Morning Washington and have to be at the studios at 7:15, you can grab a bacon egg and cheese sandwich across the street- I believe the spot opens at like 6 for all the early birds. Third! The biggest surprise to entering the TV Studio is that pretty much 90 percent of the space is taken up by desks. It's pretty much like a huge office and then the studio is like SOOO small. The actual news studio is like the size of a 1 bedroom apartment in DC. All of the anchors and production staff are really sweet and nice. It seems like they really enjoy their jobs. Which comes off in their interaction. It's not like... oh they're super nice on camera and then when the feed goes dead they're like " I hate this place." Quite the opposite. I look forward to going back and doing more segments with Audra and the rest of the team there. Also, Live TV is no joke. Good thing I have so much experience from when I read the announcements on our school TV station at Richard Montgomery High School ;)
