I was starstruck so I didn't say anything. When you're a kid, it's so cool to see a celebrity in real life. The whole thing was so normal, no pretentious behavior or "do you know who I am" stuff. Chuck Scarborough was one of New York's greatest broadcast journalists - so consistently professional and reassuring. After over 50 years, he finally retired. Whoever hired him at NBC made the right call. NBC also produced the show Law and Order - great series especially the ones with Jerry Orbach as Detective Lennie Briscoe (one of the best actors in the history of crime television; he unfortunately passed in 2004). And Late Night too. Lots of great shows on NBC.

I'm so unhappy it's going off the air after 17 years and 2000 shows. I'm watching the summer reruns and hoping I can find it on UTUBE in the future. I would love to watch the old shows from years ago. Watching it I loved to vicariously visit the Troubadour and other music venues. I got to see unknown bands and learn a lot about the latest movies, actors, comedians, and creative talents in the entertainment industry. I'm going to miss Last Call a lot. I hope NBC or another network develops a show similar. We need another show like American Bandstand or Soul Train but with the additional range of interests that were provided on Last Call. To be fair, I also get a kick out of the hand wringing on FNC when the Right takes it in the teeth. FNC patriarch Rupert Murdoch has often said that conservatism is far more lucrative... so ideological purity on either side is honestly an open question. Unfortunately for MSNBC, their corporate parent Comcast just announced that the network (and their other cable networks) will be spun off into a separate entity as a prelude to a sale so that their losses can be quarantined from the mother ship potentially losing free access to NBC News for reportage and coverage. A decade ago I used to be a regular viewer of Morning Joe as the former Republican Congressman would often tweak his C-suite-hearts and play it right down the middle. No more as his lucrative contract and bold face notoriety has made him a very predictable shill for his paymasters. Too bad. Well gang, you better crank up the Cuisinart because you're going to need gallons of those smoothies going forward. Good luck.

Using my Spectrum cable I can watch it 24/7 on Channel 14. I really try to get my news once a day early in the morning. I like to have the whole day to have other things on my mind so I can sleep at night. I remember my grandfather always watched the Six O'clock News. I will say I prefer my news from NBC so if the news is important to me I will tune in!

I spend a good part of the late 1980s onwards watching Fox's sitcom "Married with Children." Other Fox shows I absolutely loved were "Ally McBeal" and "That '70s Show!" I didn't realize "That '70s Show" is Fox's second longest running live-action sitcom, and that it aired for eight seasons. I lost track of Fox in the early 2000s as they were jumping on the reality television train, and their program offerings were not interesting to me. I do like, that Fox, unlike the other "big three" networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) does not air network daytime programming such as soap operas, game shows, or talk shows.
