Our visit to Work Box was an unexpected one. When we are traveling, my husband and I prefer to eat at small locally owned independent restaurants that are only available at the place we are visiting. However, when we travel, due to disruptions in sleeping and eating patterns, we are also very prone to hangriness! We are very self-aware when it comes to this, and when we see the first signs of hangriness in ourselves or each other, we stop what we are doing and find the closest place that doesn't appear too objectionable, and we get something to eat there. Wok Box was the lucky place on our most recent trip to London. People say when you are hungry, everything tastes good, but for me, when I'm hangry, I am much more critical, because I kind of resent eating at a place that would under normal circumstances not be one of my top choices. Anyway, I am happy to announce that despite the situation, I enjoyed my meal at Wok Box. So Wok Box is a chain, but there aren't any locations in the city I currently live in (Ottawa). It's similar to Thai Express. They serve Asian-inspired food, mostly noodles and rice dishes. You order, then they cook it up in the wok. What sets them apart from Thai Express is they also have wings and poutine (all with Asian themes, of course). They also sell soups and appetizers like potstickers/dumplings. My husband and I got a full order of the Singapore Cashew Noodle Box with beef ($12.99) to share. I do like that you can customize your noodles. Our choice usually comes with Hokkien noodles, but we opted to substitute for ribbon noodles (which is rice vermicelli noodles, like the ones usually used for Pad Thai). I also requested no bean sprouts. The noodle box was great. The beef was tender and lean. It came with broccoli, carrots, cabbage and onions. The sauce was a bit spicy and had good flavour. Temperature-wise the noodles were so hot. Like even as we got to the bottom of the box, the food was still piping hot. Half boxes are $8.99, full boxes $12.99 and Sumo-sized boxes are $16.99. Noodle choices are Chow Mein, Hokkien, Ribbon noodles and Udon. You can also substitute noodles for rice. Service was friendly and efficient. Lots of free parking in the plaza. read more

This place needs a good manager, if they already have a manager, she/he has to improve or look for another job. The place is nice, there are some game machines and the staff is friendly but they are to slow. Today I ordered some korean beef and I waited for 25 minutes, the cashier apologize several times but I realized there's just one woman cooking all the orders, other lady packing the order and the cashier helping the two women. Other orders from other people were delayed as well. I hope recommend that place when the manager or owner consider make some serious changes in there. read more

This place is not worth the price you pay nor the one star I'm giving it. I spent 40$ for two of their meal options and shared a soft drink. Don't get me started on service... I mean who asks if you want forks, then makes you grab it yourself?! I also don't understand the alcohol license. Wok box is one of my favourite foods to eat! The food is always delicious! The portions are good and I seem to always have left overs! The price is a bit much. It can get fairly expensive if you order 2 or more items. NEVER GET DELIVERY! They offer delivery but you Will wait about an hour before your food comes. If they are busy you can wait for an hour and a half to 2 hours for your food. I recommend ordering over the phone, and picking up your order. You will wait less and it will Always be fresh! Right off the skillet fresh! I have tried almost everything on the menu and there is maybe 2 dishes I didn't like/didn't care for. All the noodle boxes are Amazing! I went to this place shortly after it opened and had a poor experience. The staff weren't very good, it took forever (not busy) and the food was Lukewarm and not that tasty. Since it has been open for 3 or so years I decided to retry it, thinking they've stepped their game up. The staff on my recent visit were very good, and my food came up quickly, though again the food just wasn't that good. I got the cashew beef noodles, and while this isn't touted as an authentic Asian experience, the dish fell short. There was very little meat and veggies, with a ton of noodles and sauce. The sauce though initially tasty, was very basic and bland. I can't recall what I had with a few friends a few years ago, but remember thinking the same about our dishes. The food was fine but with so many other options in the area I won't be back. It's a shame, because they could really step their game up. read more

Healthy and inexpensive Asian menu. They have one of the best Pho soups that I have had! It can get very crowded at dinner time, and is almost impossible to find a table (especially when the University students are back in school). read more
