My Ohio driver's license expires in December 2025 and Ohio requires an Acuity and a Horizontal field test by an eye doctor,, For us seniors over 65 years old, A friend from the VFW in Wasilla recommended Eye care Stopped in yesterday and had a 10 AM appointment next day, I explained to the desk lady, showed her my paperwork showing what tst I needed and I also showed the young girl who qas doing my test, who I thought was the Dr, , But found out differently, , I felt very rushed, the reseptnest also told me she would tell me what my test was going to cost but I was rushed into the room to start the test while she was looking it up for me, Anyway, everyone was very nice but very rushey - rushey, My bill was $660.00 , I was very imbarrest , felt like I was swindled, The test at the DMV in Ohio is free but I was in Alaska and at the recommendation of a friend I am sorry for letting this happen, read more

Ok, so i have mixed feelings. The eye doctor was fantastic and there was no wait time as I walked right into my appointment, but the woman in the glasses department was a little too pushy and it made me leave to buy glasses elsewhere. I have been wearing glasses for 40 years, so I know how to go into a store and pick them out on my own. It felt very much like the young lady was commission based, so she was pushing glasses on to me. It was just too much. I explained, I'm having Lasik done in 2 months, so I just need something to hold me over for a few weeks.. not a $5-$700 pair of glasses combination she was pulling out.. I became so frustrated, I just left and purchased glasses online for a fraction of the cost (also when I mentioned that as an option, she made it clear that was basically tacky and it hurt my feelings a little and she can't promote it.. well no kidding when I got them for $123 with the lenses where as what she was trying to sell me was $300-$400 glasses + $150 lens and then a $320 appointment) for a 2-month pair. With that being said, the doctor was truly AMMMMAZING but I don't need to feel like I'm buying a car when I'm browsing the eye glass selection. read more

Alaska Eye Care Center has been my vision specialist for decades. Dr. Reber has been my doctor for a long time. I have always found the care provided here to be top notch...professional, caring, competent, and friendly. Dr. Reber caught my need for, and encouraged me to have, cataract surgery. This turned out to be one of the two very best health-related actions I have ever taken (the other was my back surgery, performed by the great folks at Anchorage Neurosurgical Associates). Ten years later, as I started noticing some visual blurring, Dr. Reber caught the forming of so-called secondary cataracts (clouding of the back of the sacs which hold the new lenses installed as part of my initial surgery, something that often happens around ten years after the initial surgery). Once again, I wrnt to the great people at Pacific Cataract and Laser Instutute, my treatment took all of two minutes, and I walked out of there with perfect vision restored. I am a Medicaid recipient. This is noteworthy for two reasons. One, from the time when I was well-employed and insured to now when my fortunes are far less substantial, there has been absolutely no change in the way they have treated me at Alaska Eye Care. Second, though Medicaid does cover glasses, there are a limited nu.ber of frames (as it should be). Unfortunately, the metal that eligible frames are made of reacts negatively with my body chemistry. The first pair I got under Medicaid left a discoloration on my face and some irritation. When I told them this at my second pair of Medicaid glasses over a year later, they took my glasses back and shrink-wrapped the ear peices! This simple service made all the difference. I was comfortable wearing my glasses and had no discoloration. Alaska Eye Care will always be my Eye Care Providers. Thank you. Alaska Eye Care Center! I really have mixed feelings in office was amazing the first visit. I stoped in the second Friday to pay the rest of my bill and my husband asks the receptionist kindly he is very soft spoken and shy he actually has to repeat himself to her I'm sorry Are my wife and daughters glasses in by chance... she looks hun dead in the eyes "Has someone called you" he responded no... she then says "then they are not in" not only was she absolutely rude to him but seriously that's how you check the system? Well we called last night she told him today... Here is my wonderful text with the hours and dates they are available came in 10 mins before closing saying I could get my daughters and my glasses. Uh I live out further then 10 and when I called at 4 no on picked up! So uh how wonderful! My purchase wasn't cheap I'm selective and he has an appointment scheduled should he rethink his?! They didn't call when my contacts came in after saying they would come in 2 weeks. A month later I called and I asked about it and they said "oh we texted this number" which was literally a 7 year old phone number. I also never gave them permission to text me. Then I had them update my number and asked if they could please call next time. They've been rude to my mom before but we stuck it out with them. Then it happened AGAIN I called after 3 weeks and on the phone I was shuffled around to three different women and finally one said "okay I have them in my hand right now" So unprofessional. Will not warranty your frames if you bring them in for replacement lens. If they break them o well sorry is all you get. I was told when they broke them after waiting well over a month that we were broken while installing the new lenses. I ask about a credit and was told they will not do a credit." They said it happens some time that is why they require you to sign a no liability form. Lol I did not sign that either. They also take along time to get anything done . read more

This happened last fall. After a not-so-great experience at Wolf Eye Care, I came to AK Eye Care Center (or as my friend calls it 'that place behind the Arbys') to have frames put in some really old glasses my grandma gave me. She wore them in her high school sr picture, these frames are survivors. The tech, Adam, told us that since they were so old they might break but he would try his absolute hardest to keep that from happening. He and AECC came through in a big way! They didn't break the frames, and the new lenses arrived without a scratch. 10/10, would return to. read more

Very friendly staff in Wasilla. I live in Valdez and have been a customer for nearly 20 years. Over that period I've used the Anchorage location a few times times; there is definitely a better level of service from the staff in Wasilla. Dr Lentfer was awesomeI I used her exclusively until her recent retirement. The others are hit and miss, it seems to me the other Doctors are more interested in quantity of patients versus the quality of your visit or care. I like the selection of glasses offered, although if you're price conscious you may want to shop around as they seem expensive. read more

Ak Eye Care charged my credit card without my authorization. They refuse to refund the money since I owed them. I ordered my daughter's contacts, and they never told me they were not just going to charge $50 for the contacts, but an additional $200. They called, left a message for me to call them, but I didnt play the message until that evening. They waited 25 min before charging my card-didnt even give me time to call them back. When my daughter picked up her contacts (she's only 16), they told her I didnt call them back, of course they didnt explain anything. I am very unhappy with them.
