Ample onsite parking, quick check in process and you can check out the gift shop or interactive display while waiting for your groups time. This is a wetter area and recommend a little bug spray if during wetter months to prevent any bites (no wolf biting here, just those pesky mosquitoes!). Good presentation about the nonprofit along with learning about the wolves followed with question/answer as you move between a set of enclosures. Gift stores carries plenty of wolf related items and crafts along with sponsorship possibilities for the wolves on hand. Be it pictures of the specific wolves to tufts of hair collected between shed seasons there are plenty of options here! I went to this place on a snowy day with no expectations. It was a really fabulous experience. They were very accommodating with shoveling and thanked us many times for coming. The staff was friendly, personable and knowledgeable. They truly care about the wolves and take really good care of them. They cleared up many false notions about wolves. For instance, they are not as problematic with livestock or humans out west as people think. I would definitely recommend going in the winter months as the wolves are more active in the cold and snow than in the warmer months. read more

Everyone should visit wolf hollow. It is beautiful, interesting and educational. We've visited wolf hollow several times. We have had different guides who all are energetic an full of interesting information and anecdotes about the wolf hollow wolves. After an interactive hour presentation with A wolf family hanging out in the area with the speaker, you are allowed to visit different areas to see other wolves. the Areas have staff who patiently answer all questions. It is really an amazing place. Can't wait to go back in the winter and see how the wolves look and act when it's cold out (we've only been there in the summer). read more

When our wonderful guide shared that he was a middle school teacher in his everyday life, all I could think was, "if only I would've had you as a teacher in 7th grade. I would have focused more on my studies and daydreamed less about boys and which Bonne Bell Lip Smacker flavor to wear the next day." Seriously. He was that funny and engaging. His students are lucky, indeed: We wound up here on a recent-ish trip to Boston, thanks to my minor fixation with visiting Ipswich; maybe because I'd heard about the Clam Box, though we never did get around to trying it... But I digress. Because this place turned out to be the surprise highlight of our entire weekend. Great for all but the youngest of kids, whose attention may wander during the hour or so long presentation. We were here awhile ago so my memory is a bit foggy, but I remember being especially entranced by the tale of Bear, a wolf-dog hybrid rescued from a city apartment and brought to live here. This is the best way in the area to see wolves up close and personal. I recently brought my daughter to the Howling at the Moon presentation to benefit a local Native American organization in the area. Its amazing to see these animals so close and to hear how the caretakers of the facility help them to thrive in day to day existence. Its also a sad reminder of how cruel Americans have been to them since we settled here over 400 years ago. The presentation is packed with history, fun, and the ability to see things most don't get to up close and personal, like when a new smell is presented into the environment and the wolves roll in it to communicate it to others in the pack. I recommend this to anyone. If you do bring the kids try to go earlier in the day though because its a long presentation. At the moment they are only open on weekends and do fundraisers during the week. read more

The Wolf Hollow experience is a near must do if you have kids, especially if they're obsessed with nature/wildlife/wolves. What you can learn about wildlife ecology in the presence of these beautiful creatures is very very important. However, note that much of what our presenter (we had Zee, who I believe runs the show most days) shared was scientifically incorrect. To our dismay, there is heavy emphasis on the dominance-based structure and alpha/beta/omega hierarchy in wolves. The wolf social structure as presented here is too outdated for our liking and isn't based on much research. The alpha-male/female focus was debunked in 1999 by wolf researchers (David Mech if your guy), and the best we can get from Wolf Hollow is that they are still trying to incorporate that research into their talk. I challenge Wolf Hollow to stay relevant with peer reviewed evidence and not oversimplify the complex dynamics of animal behavior. For the brave parent, this could be a chance too to show the kids that science builds upon past work and is pushed forward with compelling evidence beyond anecdotes. Wolves are cool though. read more

You must go and see these incredible wolves!! Get there early (around 1pm) because it got crowded and the tour starts at 1:30pm (Sundays only). The guide was so knowledgeable - his dad founded Wolf Hallow. I don't know how he rattled off all that information within about an hour. I wanted to offer him water or something. All while being nipped at by the wolves for the meat he had in his jacket. Impressive. I've told so many people about this place. I just moved here two months ago to Boston and not one person I've talked to has heard of it. I'll definitely help her the word out and be back again to visit!!! read more

Wolf Hollow will put to rest the little red riding hood nursery rhyme and the one where the wolf huffs and puffs and blows down the house of the three little pigs. Wolf Hollow is a wolf refuge whose primary goal is to rescue wolves and to educate the frightened public about these beautiful creatures. They do a great job too. During an hour lecture, you'll get to see how the wolves interact while in the wild. (Don't expect them to go on a full hunting expedition. That would be too gory for the children.) You'll learn that they don't really howl at the full moon and how the Native Americans and they forged a great bond and how closely related they are to your own dog. (No. Your little nipping, barking Chihuahua is not really in this noble family, nor would they have it, except maybe for dinner. Try the rat family for closer kin. Think big people. Think shepard. Think husky.) It's really something to see and hear. Kudos to Wolf Hollow for caring about the wolf and sharing their education with the public. I doubt you'll ever be this close and personal with a real wolf. N.B. Bring bug spray. The mosquitos can be relentless. Use the restroom before you get there. I was awestruck at being so close to these beautiful wolves. And yes, you get to howl with them! The guide/owner gave a very informative lecture. She and the rest of the staff seem to really love the wolves. She said that they have struck up a deal with Walmart where they donate all their meat that is past the expiration date to the wolves. I was happy to hear that Walmart was behaving ethically for once! Residents also donate roadkill. I really appreciate that they are not only helping the wolves but helping the environment. read more

We started coming here a long time ago every year because my Mom loves wolves and have always enjoyed it. If you like them too or just are looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon in the area, stop on by. It's a family run place in it's second generation that love what they do and are knowledgeable and friendly, often times standing around after the presentation to answer questions for several minutes. They do school presentations as well and you can tell they genuinely care about these animals and want to to as well, to respect and admire them. The wolves can be as close as 8 feet away if they are at the fence providing great photo opportunities. This is a much see for any wolf or nature lover. read more

We brought our 6 year old and 4 year old grandsons.They liked seeing the wolves,but after about 15 minutes of talking about things that were over their heads,they wanted to leave.We stayed for almost 1 hour and the talking continued. Just went to Wolf Hollow for the second time and it was even better because we got to see the puppies! Family was out visiting and they loved it, was so glad we decided to bring them. The presentation is very informational, though the first presentation I heard included more information about what every day citizens could be doing to help wolves in the wild, which I liked and was bummed they didn't include this second time. I definitely want to go back in the winter when they're really active! I've been to Wolf Hollow many times in the past 20 years, and I absolutely love it. It's not just a place to see wolves - they educate the public and advocate for wolves at the same time. Though their focus is singular for the wolves, they clearly show through the lectures on wolf ecology how interconnected we all are, and that when we threaten other species, we endanger everyone. I have been very happy to introduce my wife to Wolf Hollow, and to bring my two-year-old daughter there for the first time today, for their Family Fun Day. It was extremely busy for a such a small facility, and they did a fantastic job of giving everyone as much of a chance as possible to see and learn!
