I have been a patient of Dr. Chu's since 2014. He is thorough, patient, and personable. The practice has grown considerably since that time, with more doctors and staff joining the practice. They are efficient, with only one occasion I can recall having to wait for a lengthy amount of time in an exam room. Dr. Chu follows up my physical exams with a mailed copy of my lab report, marked in his own hand and accompanied by a detailed letter of findings and recommendations. Something very suspicious with the front office for Mid South Internal Medicine. Requesting full payment up front for services if you have insurance with the promise to file and reimburse you as patient. Many longer term patients have left as result of this new practice by the front office. I and others I have referred in addition to the friend who referred me have left messages for the nurse/doctor and there has not been one call back or response for any of us. I am a patient of Dr. Jimmy Tran and my health journey u set his watchful eye has been eye opening. Instead of treating my symptoms, he challenged me to see my health based on the trajectory that I was on as opposed to my current state of borderline numbers. I have lost over 30 lbs due to the education I received from him, my medications were changed to address the root causes of my issues, and I have come off of one diabetes medication and decreased a blood pressure medication. Dr. Jimmy Tran is now the PCP for not only my family but my friends as well. The comprehensive physical complete with heart and aortic scans is unmatched. This is NOT a "Waiting Room Review". Meaning, i'm not sitting in the waiting room upset about the wait and leaving a negative review. This is not a "review" of passion. This IS however a review after being a patient for more than 7 years and my option has been consistently that this is a Doctors office that is poorly managed and they seem to not care at all for the patient. Having said that, the Doctors that I've interacted with there were decent, but the office staff is horrendous. I've never met a more rude, entitled, pretentious group of humans in my life. The receptionist "Madison" is as rude as they come. She has ticked me off on at least 5 different occasions with her very rude condescending attitude. When you ask to speak to an office manager or clinical director the answer is always, "they're not here"... well... that's OBVIOUS! Lack of Managment isn't something I needed her to confirm. To be clear I've been over them for a few years now but the recent straw that broke the camel's back was when my PCP retired abruptly, no warning, and now i'm not "allowed" to see any of the other seasoned doctors in the practice that I chose because "they aren't taking any new patients".... I'm NOT a new patient. I'm the same person that's been coming there for 7 or 8 years, just so happened my doctor retired/quit. Why should I penalized for that?!? My only option was to see on if the two brand new doctors and at least one of them has bad reviews online for pretty much the same thing I complained about here... being rude. (So shocking). The low 2 star rating if this place is a very accurate representation of what you can expect at Wolf River Wellness. Do yourself a favor and pick a new doctor's office now before your doctor leaves and they toss you out with his old belongings. read more

I'm never one to post a review but I'm sorely disappointed in this practice. Waited 2.5 hours for a wellness visit with Dr Alford and barely spoke to her for 10 min about odd GI symptoms I was having. She was very dismissive and I felt she was rushing me out of the room. Asked two months later at the same practice to see a different doctor for a recheck as my symptoms have not improved and the office manager said it's their policy that no one can switch pcps within the practice. I've experienced the worst health of my entire life while under the care of this place (the last 5 years or so). I've seen both Dr. Johnsons and a doctor no longer there (thank God). When I tell you it's necessary to check the CDC standards for care before you go here...that tells you what these folks know. I've been misdiagnosed and misled too many times to stay. I don't usually write reviews but I felt that my PCP is one of the best I've ever encountered for routine physicals. This is my 3rd physical that was overseen by Dr. Kimberly Freeman and every appointment has been over the top in excellence. Dr. Freeman is extremely thorough and the tests are so detailed. I can't say enough about her best bedside manner with her always being so easy to talk to. Today was not a good day for me because I was having another problem that I have a separate doctor caring for and yet she still addressed that issue. The staff is super friendly and caring. Dr. Jimmy Tran is quite possibly one of the worst doctors in the area. I used to be with Dr. Talbert, who was a wonderful doctor, but retired. The practice changed me to Dr. Tran. He is NOT patient focused, but rather driven by appointments and collecting fees. He doesn't answer questions, doesn't explain lab results and never responds in a timely fashion. Need a refill? Better get ready to schedule an appointment. Won't refill meds without an office visit (gotta collect that copay and office visit fee) and not only will he not refill, he won't bother to tell the pharmacy OR the patient that he's not refilling. Horrible experience ever since Dr. Talbert left. Furthermore, the practice itself will not allow you to change doctors within the practice. The ONLY way to change doctors is to totally leave the practice. Stay away from Mid South Internal Medicine/Wolf River Wellness, and specifically Dr. Jimmy Tran. read more

Time for the annual physical and my doc for 12 years no longer takes my insurance. Still love the guy but out-of-pocket wasn't an option. My wife suggested I try Dr. Talbert at Mid-South. I called expecting the next appointment would be months away. The person who answered the phone was super-friendly, and just asked "when do you want to come in?" Dare I ask?: "Friday?" Yep, no problem. I was completely unprepared for that answer. So I showed up Friday and got right in. Staff was friendly. Got all the lab work and imaging done. Dr. Tolbert spent plenty of time and addressed my concerns. Asked me to call him back in two weeks to double-check on how the meds are working. Now, since I got in so quickly, just before I leave, I'm wondering if this is a busy practice. I walked out into a packed lobby. Very impressive. It's a busy practice that just works efficiently. Imagine. Whole thing took an hour-and-a-half, which is flying for an annual, and I didn't feel cheated. I highly recommend this practice. Why not five stars? Five stars are reserved for zero waiting. I had a couple of five-minute waits between tests and exams. Picky? Maybe. Mid-South is an excellent internal med practice. read more

My wife and I went to see Dr. Nathan Johnson at Mid-south Internal Medicine. What a money driven practice - not patient focused. When you go to a doctor, you should be able to talk to his nurse if not the doctor! Rude staff. RUDE! You can lie to people all you want to people, but you are rude and unprofessional. Front desk lady who makes appointments, wants to know your medical information since patient cannot talk to a nurse, doctor or an office manager! Have you heard of HIPPA law? She would be a liaison between you and the nurse/doctor and the business office. Because we said, "Oh, so we cannot talk to our doctor or his nurse or office manager?" She accused us of being rude! And said, "If you don't like it, find another doctor"! We did not come to see you lady! No one returns calls either from the business office or nurse. Hang ups or on "hold." Because the doctor forgot to call in our prescriptions and we got extra bill, etc. we had honest, legitimate questions. "If you want to talk to a nurse or a doctor, you can make an appointment to see them!" And pay another office visit? We are self-pay. They just want insured people, so they can bill them every six months. Very unprofessional, money focused practice. I thought doctors were supposed to be patient focused, healthcare providers. If you are so concerned about my health and about patient care then why did you not give me any information about my shot you gave me? Why did you not call in my prescriptions? Why do I have to call you to remind your basic duty as a doctor? And for the front desk lady to say, "If you don't like it, find another doctor" ??!! It is not her place. I recently had my medical records changed to another office, but there is one prescription that I need that requires a hard prescription. I planned on getting that refilled one last time at MidSouth Internal. I made a appointment for this sometime ago. The appointment was for 12/01/20. I got an automated call reminding me of said appointment on 11/30. When I got to their office and signed in I was soon advised that I no longer had an appointment since I had transferred my records to another doctor. They also would not be able to see me at any other time that day or in the future. Again, the only reason was to get the one refill and the appointment would take 5-10 minutes tops. MidSouth has had an issue with their automated reminder system for years. I was actually surprised when I got a notification the day before my scheduled appointment as usually it would come about two weeks before said appointment. I have never had any real issue with the doctors and related staff. I guess in the end things will work out for the best as my business is now located elsewhere. Take care out there. read more

On my first "scheduled" appointment, after waiting in the exam room for over a half-hour, I walked back up the desk and asked where my doctor was, the receptionist had no answer, but at that time, my doctor finally got to my assigned room and motioned me back. Only because I needed a prescription which my orthopedic doctor originally prescribed, did I call a few days ago to set an annual appointment only for find out they had scheduled me one without my knowledge. My appointment is tomorrow. Today I received six automated phone calls to remind me of it tomorrow, but the recording gave me no option to push a digit on my phone to confirm it. It would just play through on a continuous loop until I hung up. After the fourth call, I called the office. The receptionist there didn't get that I wasn't getting the prompt to confirm the appointment. After repeating the problem to her several times, her response was that she was sorry, but the recording was beyond her control. I asked to speak to someone who could control it and she immediately transferred me to a voice mail. I left a message, but never got a return call. Another thing about their recorded messaging system I don't like is that if you call the office before or after hours, the recorded message states that the office opens at 8:00 am. That is incorrect as it actually opens at 7:30 am. Since they don't manage stating the correct office open hours, who knows what else they aren't managing professionally! I did not really have a "familly" doctor and as I was nearing 50 I knew I needed to have one for physicals and normal tests that I would need. I was assigned I guess to Dr. Pruitt. Have been going now for several years. Very thourough, never a long wait, and even the nurses are friendly! You don't always get that. I have recommended them to several friends. read more
