The entire staff is very sympathetic to issues with our loved ones and takes care of them as if they were their own. I read some of the one star reviews, and they are a joke. I have never in all my years seen them treat or speak to anybody poorly. You have to remember they are a business and as sympathetic as they may be to handing out free care that's not how a successful business works. If you want the absolute best care for your animals this is where you need to go. If you want to complain about not being able to pay or walking in on a Monday or a Friday, which are hands down their busiest days and expect to be treated within seconds you need to reevaluate your life decision decisions.

They treat my dogs so well, and I can tell that they really love our dogs (especially one of them who seems very popular). It it's important to us that we are comfortable and that our dogs are comfortable, and they demonstrate this each time. We are happy to be their patients!

I knew she needed immediate attention. My normal vet had no appointments for the day. I seen this animal hospital accepted walk in visits. I called first and they said they would see her. They had me drop her off and she spent about 6 hours there. Jon Morrow called me twice about what we were going to do. He was very knowledgeable. It was a very hard situation and they helped me feel more at ease. The bill wasn't too bad either. Much less than taking her to the emergency vet in El Paso. Thank you!

Calista told me to come right away after explaining what the charge for an emergency visit would be. Didn't matter, I didn't want my kitty to suffer! They took him right in while I completed the paperwork. I'm new in town, so I do not have a veterinarian yet. I do now. They had him evaluated and told me he did have an abscess that had ruptured, but they had shaved the area, evaluated if it was in need of additional care, cleaned the would and felt he would be best served with antibiotics and an anti inflammatory to help him get comfortable. He is home, doing well, and I plan to use them for future care.

We moved forward with exploratory surgery and received constant updates throughout the day on how it went. We were out of town at the time & Dr. Mobley & Dr. Smith called daily to give us updates as our little man recovered after surgery. Hearing directly from the doctors each day was so comforting & I could get my questions answered easily. I trusted he was in great care while I couldn't be there physically. You can really tell the doctors here care about your pets wellbeing & we are so thankful for Dr. Mobley saving our little man's life.

I am active-duty military stationed in San Diego, CA, I was 6 months pregnant when this incident occurred now that I am not pregnant anymore, back from deployment, and in a good routine with my baby, I want to get justice for my dog. A little back story, Pearl was my 4-year-old healthy English bulldog that I had gotten while I was stationed in Japan. She flew all the way from Japan to the United States without any issues and went to the vets prior to this trip to NM (which I have documentation stating that she was 100% a healthy dog). On March 21st, 2025, I had last minute decided to board my dogs, Pearl (English bulldog) and Levi (Akita Inu) at Karen's Animal House (ADDRESS- 1646 Mahaney Dr, Las Cruces, NM 88005) for a quick overnight stay. As I went to drop them off, I explained to the worker that Pearl needs to be kept cool. He stated, "don't worry, we get bulldogs all the time here," this gave me some reassurance that Pearl was in good hands for the night. Pearl and Levi were dropped off at 12:30pm. Around 1:30pm, a worker called me to say that Pearl was outside, she got hot, and they brought her inside. Around 3:30pm, I was called again and told that Pearl was unresponsive, and he think she has passed away. I was hysterical, I proceeded to tell him to call the vets immediately or bring her to wherever vets and I would be there AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I was there in less than 10 minutes. As I arrived to Karens Animal House, NONE of the workers were helping me even locate Pearl. I went slamming through each room and not a single person stopped to assist me. I walked out to their grass yard, where I saw this worker carrying my dog out in her bed and she was clearly dead. SHE WAS ONLY THERE FOR 3 HOURS. Her body was so cold and stiff, I could not understand what had happened within 3 hours. My other dog was a wreck. Karen has never called or even tried to reach out to me or even pay for any of this. I paid for Pearl to get a necropsy done immediately because I couldn't drive back to San Diego with my dead dog in the car. The necropsy came back that she aspirated due to "foreign material." Meaning, her death could have 100% been preventable, just like if you see a HUMAN BEING CHOKING. The workers failed to mention to me if she had possibly vomited at any point, I was told that Pearl was being watched by one of the other workers, which is clear negligence. It isn't like she dropped dead because of a heart attack; ANYONE would have noticed a dog choking. I had gotten in contact with an Officer Aguirre of Las Cruces Animal Control. He went to Karens Animal Place to interview, I asked if they had footage from the cameras and he said that he asked but apparently the cameras "didn't work." He also told me that he was going to get somebody to arrest me because I was "threatening him." I spoke with him again; he said that there was nothing that he could do and the case was closed. This was traumatizing, he seemed to be taking the easy way out. I didn't understand why animal cruelty laws were not being followed judging by where I live in San Diego, this situation hell would be raised. This event caused me so much emotional stress that I have been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, and depression and now must take medication every day to regulate myself. This whole thing happening while I was 6 months pregnant, I had too many scares thinking that I lost my baby. Pearl was my whole heart, and it truly felt like I lost my child. I know nothing will bring her back, but I want justice for her and I don't believe Karen should get away with this. Dogs don't just die in 3 hours.

We traveled from Prescott AZ to Las Cruces to do a 3 nite 4 day bikepacking trip and dropped off…read moreour little blue heeler Pico at Karens. They allowed us to leave our van parked behind the secure gates as well. Super friendly staff! It was Pico's first boarding and it seemed to go very well. Would recommend this facility highly! Put them into a room and realized they're the wrong family and ask them to go back out into the waiting room. Another family was there and said they had called the facility at least six times to update them with important medical information none of which they did. I understand being busy but being careless is another thing. I appreciate the fact that they're available when other veterinarians offices are closed, but the quality of care which should include how the owners are treated as well as their pets is incredibly important. These little guys are part of our family and to have a nonchalant demeanor really doesn't help the situation. all of these problems are very fixable, they need an office manager who has experience on how to run a facility. Because when we're waiting to be helped, and we see the front office staff joking around and having a great time when many of us are grieving is really not appropriate

I asked him for information regarding transportation for a cat that has been coming to my back patio. I explained that I am no longer driving, and I had posted on Ring pictures of this kitty to see if anyone is missing him with no one responding. Charlie was so nice and helpful, although they do not transport animals, he gave me his manager, Mayura's phone number, and suggested that I text her. As soon as I texted Mayura, she called me and told me that I needed to see if the cat was chipped. She provided me the phone number of Animal Control. Mayura also provided me the number of SNAP just in case the cat is not chipped. She mentioned that SNAP can help with the cost of having the cat neutered and vaccinated. I did call Animal Control and as soon as I am able to get this cat in a kennel. I will call Animal Control to see if he is chipped. I do believe this cat belongs to someone, because he is so well behaved. Charlie and Mayura are truly kind and love animals. I'm sure the entire staff is just as caring. Thank you for all you do for the animals. I will go to your website to donate to your amazing cause.
