We had our dachshund seen for exploratory GI surgery due to swallowing a foreign body & we had a phenomenal experience here. Dr. Mobley assisted us quickly and laid out our options, and carefully explained risks. She also helped us understand the costs we faced with our options. We moved forward with exploratory surgery and received constant updates throughout the day on how it went. We were out of town at the time & Dr. Mobley & Dr. Smith called daily to give us updates as our little man recovered after surgery. Hearing directly from the doctors each day was so comforting & I could get my questions answered easily. I trusted he was in great care while I couldn't be there physically. All my animals have been patients of Schumacher Vet Clinic since its inception more than 30 years ago. This includes a horse, about 19 dogs, birds, and chickens. In every case, the animal's care and treatment was the best possible. Over the years, there have been times the doctors have had to come to the house in the middle of the night. Always, the response is immediate, professional and compassionate. Their treatment facility is state of the art and the entire staff, knowledgeable, responsive and professional . The only down side is that the waiting room is too small. My 15 year old Doberman (yes! 15 years old!) is a testament to the excellent care. read more

Absolute nightmare. I took my cat to get her rabies vaccine and Jodie brought her back to me. However, she proceeded to drop the carrier in front of my vehicle, and my cat escaped and ran off towards the back area. Staff did not allow me to look where my cat had run off to until it was too late, and she has been missing since. April 28th was the last time I got to hold my cat whom I have raised since she was a kitten. I have contacted the clinic on MULTIPLE occasions, and have physically checked on the TWO traps that the staff has set out for her daily. Dr. Hoisington reassured me that the staff was doing everything in their power to get her home, and that the traps were being checked daily. This is not the case. I have checked multiple times outside of business hours only to find that the traps remain untouched. One trap had a massive tumbleweed in front of it one morning, and the other with no food. I just checked the traps again to find that they have NOT been attended to. One was closed, the other with the food container upturned--the same position it had been in a few days prior. There was a grey vehicle parked outside the clinic, meaning a technician was on the premises but did NOT even take a moment to check on TWO traps. I *strongly* encourage you and your families to take your business to a clinic that prioritizes your pets, your peace of mind, and their integrity to you, a pet owner. An absolute shame. They are rude everytime I bring my dog in for his ears they have no respect at all. Wouldn't recommend this clinic at all

For the ten years plus that I have been here in Las Cruces I have brought my babies (dogs) to vets around the city because they were a few pennies cheaper than Schumacher, but the cancer my baby had was overlooked elsewhere, and by the time I found Schumacher Clinic it was too late ... my baby had to be put to sleep. The care for your baby, regardless of the breed, is a serious matter, and I can't imagine, from personal experience, taking my babies anywhere else. I'm a HUGE animal advocate ... and if there is anything that can be found in regards to the good health and treatment of your baby, Schumacher Clinic will not only find it, but correct it immediately if possible. Don't allow yourself to be fooled by soft words ... give your animal and friend a fighting chance at living ... bring them to Schumacher VC and you and your baby will experience love, dignity, and respect ... not to mention the professionalism that they display every day towards people just like you who love their babies read more

This Vetirinary Clinic might be the BEST one in town! We've taken our Shih-Tzu here twice during COVID-19 and they have been so nice to her and have taken great care of her! We went for her 3-year Rabies vaccine and for her to get Spayed. They did great both times! Her recovery after she got spayed was so fast and all we needed to do was bring her back for a check-up! Love, love, love this place! We have seen Dr. Kyle, Dr. Short and Dr. Anderson. They are all wonderful vets, and we have had very good vets in towns across America. Someone made disparaging remarks about Dr. Kyle in their yelp review pertaining to her being crass and all about the money, both of which are not true. Last Saturday evening our senior dog tore her nail completely out causing extensive bleeding. I called Schumacher to get the number for an emergency clinic. Instead I was connected with Dr. Kyle who told us it was not life threatening but she would come in if we wanted her to. We opted for her to look at the foot and she was at her office less than 15 minutes later, took care of our dog cheerfully and adeptly and gave us instructions. She said we could pay when we brought her back in on Monday for a rebandage. The cost of the emergency visit was less than the cost of our heartguard prescription. So far we have had both of our dogs vaccinated for rabies, rattlesnake venom, bordatella and heart worm tests. Each time I find myself shaking my head because the cost is 50 to 70% less than it was for the same visits in Georgia, Utah, Florida and Missouri. This place is small, no frills, and has a wonderful attentive and knowledgeable staff that handles a massive amount of people quickly and professionally. Can't say enough good things about them. First off, I got a new puppy and was told to go to this clinic. My puppy has Cherry eye which I brought upon the doctor and other staff. Next day i woke up and my puppies eye was bleeding pretty bad. I rushed to the clinic for them to take AN HOUR to even bother to see what i needed. *(We aren't supposed to get out of the cars due to covid, so the workers are supposed to come to your window)* i was very annoyed with this and a staff member mentioned they have many new people who are learning. She also mentioned the doctor and other staff were "too busy" to give me an answer so they would have to call me later. Never got a call. Very unprofessional. read more

I used this vet clinic for years. I actually worked at another clinic in town but chose this place to have my personal pets seen. I predominately saw Dr Short and Dr Anderson with my creatures. I can't say enough about how comfortable I am with all of their Dr's. I'm not sure if this is their goal but there is a consistent level of honesty and straightforwardness with every vet I've seen there. I had to take my sheltie to another vet because Schumacher's doesn't take care credit. The other clinic kept telling me that my dog was showing signs of the beginnings of heart disease but wasn't considered as actively having it. They kept brushing off my concerns about changes in his coughing and breathing even though this other vet knew I had previously been a very good vet tech. I finally took my dog to Schumacher's and saw Dr. Anderson. She told me heart failure was an ugly thing and that it just takes them. She told me I was doing everything I could and it was about quality of life. Two days later, he was gone. Even when it comes to the hard news, this place is amazing. They give you accurate diagnoses and expectations. I have absolutely countless reviews of them helping me and none of them negative. I have been to almost every clinic in Las Cruces and they are hands down the absolute best. Just wish they took care credit. read more

This was a wonderful place to take my pets, UNTIL Dr William Schumacher retired and left the business to his daughter. She is crass and unfeeling, just wants the money! All of the old office staff left when her dad did, and the new staff "forget" things, like take-home meds and rabies certificates. Also, apparently, cleanliness, as, the last time I used this clinic, my cat (who was there for a spay) came home with a virus which Dr Kyle (Schumacher) refused to treat without more tests (and of course, more money). We did take the cat back and pay her fees, but Dr Kyle kept insisting nothing was wrong and failed to give the anti-nausea meds which were promised, resulting in the kitty losing 3 lbs and becoming sicker--at which time we took her to a different vet who made her better immediately!! Even Dr Short, who had previously treated many of our pets, was sarcastic with us ("She wasn't sick when she was here, maybe she just doesn't like your daughter (at home)"). I have since called Dr Kyle, just to ask a quick question, but was told I have been put on her "do not treat" list because we were unhappy with her?!?! But she still harasses us with mail stating that we need to make appointments for our cat's shots....Bad place with uncaring vets and incompetent office staff!! read more
