I had a really good experience with my furbaby here. The waiting room is spacious and you could smell how clean it was. Clean is GOOD!! I appreciate how quickly they got me in and how considerate and compassionate they were on the phone when scheduling the appointment. Especially when I said I believed she had a UTI and was prone to struvite crystals. They were empathetic and had availability the next which was awesome. Another clinic which shall remain nameless didn't even give me the opportunity to explain why I was calling before saying they had no availability for two weeks! We definitely got the better of the deal here. Kind and reasonably priced. So, we were seen and treated kindly. No judgment. Especially with my furbaby being overweight. No "she needs to lose weight" and "this is why she is having this issue." Recommendations were made and a new one for Filaway which no one has ever made before. But I appreciate that there was no pushing or upsale or side eye. Just kindness and consideration. Medication prescribed and "if symptoms don't improve, come back," not "you MUST return for a follow up." My furbabies don't go to the vet often, so taking them in is traumatic for all of us and I'm sure they sensed that at this clinic and I'm sure they're used to it. Highly incompetent, Took two dogs in 6-8 months ago and of all things the power was out in the neighborhood ( I live up the street) The problem is EVERY time I call to make an appointment for our bulldog I go through the ordeal of them telling me they have no record that our bulldog was seen, I remind them the power was out (cant enter a new patient with no computers) The last person just spoke too literally was arguing and blaming myself, They want to charge a fee for a first time visit....These people are stupid! read more

Great service! I got a new puppy looking to book for her vaccinations and exam, but they were booked out for weeks along with mostly all of the other vets in Cruces . The receptionist her name was Debby ,wanted me to at least get my puppy in for her vaccinations considering she hasn't gotten any at all at 9 weeks old. She squeezed me in and I was even able to get her a full examination with the doctor after a cancellation. She was very sweet and considerate and the doctor was very good as well! Unfortunately we had to put our BostonTerrier/Pug to sleep 2 weeks ago. He had recently turned 15 and had slowly been going downhill. When he wouldn't eat anymore, we knew it was time. The vet gave a thorough exam and confirmed he was in the end stages of life. She gave us a couple options and we made the hard decision. During the whole process, the Doctor and assistant were so compassionate, kind, caring and respectful of our feelings. They gave us plenty of time to say goodbye. We also appreciated not having to sign in and taken immediately to our room and they took care of payment before the procedure, so we could leave right away. I don't understand why anyone would give anything under 5 *'s! When Dr. Higgins moved from Calista to Jornada, I all too happily followed her. It's hard to find a vet that you feel understands the love you feel for your pets and will care for your pets as they would their own. Dr. Higgins is THAT vet. I have all of my pets in her care and haven't looked back. The staff has always been kind and just like with ANY doctor's office, you sometimes have to wait. Emergencies with pets happen. Wouldn't you want your pet seen ASAP if you had an emergency? In order for them to help an animal in a 911 situation, you may have to wait and I'm sure you'd want the same if you were the one with the emergency. You can always call to see if your doctor is running on time if need be. I've never waited for more than 15-minutes. I've waited much longer for my own doctors. This is typical of any doctors office no matter where you live. The loving care that my pets AND I get here is THE BEST! I'm always referring people to them. And remember, the people working here from the front desk to vet techs to pharmacist to the doctors themselves are all HUMAN. Give them a little grace. They know that in scary situations we're stressed, but try to exercise a little kindness nonetheless. Remember, they're caring for your loved one. If you are new to the area, do yourself a favor and IMMEDIATELY (run..don't walk!) get yourself established with a doctor and do the same for your pets. So far I have been twice with my animals to see Dr. Higgins, and both times I was impressed with her care of our Beagle. She must have taken at least three solid minutes of petting and getting my dog comfortable before she even began the exam and that impressed me. As a therapist, I know the value in establishing a great foundation with whomever you work with, whether Beast or Man. I do find it a little pricier than my last place. But the last place also really sort of let my dog die without really letting me know how serious her decline was. There is a reason people say "You get what you pay for." read more

Jay got very sick. He had blood coming out his butt. I had to take he to the EMG . My vet of 7 years (Jornada Veterinary Clinic in Las Cruces NM) was too busy to see him. They are always ready to see my two dogs when they are well, but when they are truly in need. "Sorry, find somewhere else." is what they told me. They charge more than most, but I wanted what I thought was the best care. I think they will not be my vet anymore. I would suggest you also look somewhere else too if they are your vet. read more

I was a client for over ten years and the last couple of years I had a very sick dog. Two years ago, I ended up getting him treatment elsewhere because they were too busy at that time, and it was urgent for us. I would though keep his annual checkups with Jornada. Well, the last several months my dog was going downhill fast and I had an appointment with Jornada last month, but they cancelled it because they were closed due to COVID. It was an important appointment to help me determine how much longer my dog would live. I never got a call back to reschedule and again I had to go to another veterinarian so that my dog could go with some dignity and appropriate care to minimize his pain. I felt jornada treated me and my dog as just a number and did not do enough to accommodate and care for us when we needed it the most. I will not return! read more

My pets have been clients of this clinic since I moved here in 1996, and I used to swear by the place. Dr. Soules in particular was always great with cats. Over the past couple of years, however, the service at the vet has worsened. I hardly ever see the same veterinarian from one visit to the next--I don't really understand the roster of retired vets and part-timers they appear to have rotating through there. The office routinely overbooks or gets behind, and if that weren't bad enough, the waiting room is tiny, with hard plastic chairs arranged in a U-shape. That's fine if you have a little poodle or a cat in a carrier, but not if you have a 70-lb Irish setter who is looking to spread out on the floor. Prices at this vet are also VERY high and there has never been an "option" that they haven't tried to upsell me on. I would take my business elsewhere were it not the case that this vet is a 10 minute drive as contrasted with a 25-minute drive for all the other local vets. read more

Would give 0 starts if i could. This vet office has 0 compassion. They refuse to fit you in, even if you are an established patient. My 6 month old puppy broke her leg. Had to go to El Paso to be seen as it was after hours for this vet. Emergency vet said to follow up with primary. Dog needed new cast. They refused to make room to place a new cast on dog despite her chewing it off. They said the recommend i go back to emergency vet. WHY HAVE A PRIMARY VET if they advise you to drive an hour away and pay triple because they can't make room to follow up after emergency. I have gone to this vet for years with other pets. I will be changing vets as they have 0 sympathy and make you feel guilty for not wanting to take your animal back to emergency vet. The vet did not offer a drop off or any solution at all for a tech to bandage the puppy. Only advice was to take her back to the emergency vet. No point to have this place as a primary vet they refuse help or solutions. read more

I recently moved to Las Cruces and took my dog here to be vaccinated against a rattle snake bite. Last month I noticed that my dog was scratching his left ear, upon my examination, I thought that he had an ear infection. I made an appointment and sure enough, his ear was infected which cleared up within a week with the cleanser and medication prescribed. The vet was vey thorough and recommended a dental cleaning and a tooth that needed to be extracted. I feel that the vet was very competent and interacted well with my dog. You would hope that you could be seen at some time with your sick dog. He has been sick for 2 weeks now. I called last week at 8 am and they could not see him, called again today and they don't have anything until March. I am so disgusted with them all. I thankfully found a Vet at the Animal Hospital that will see him right now. Thank goodness. I hoped that if you had a Vet for your dogs, she would be there when you need them most! Based on a memo from this clinic that has gone viral on Facebook, this organization clearly prioritizes dog food brand partnerships over your dogs health. The recommendations made in that memo for dog food was the sole reason my childhood dog developed diabetes and passed at an early age. Amazing group of people. The dr was so understanding and compassionate, explained every little detail. They were all were so understanding. I had to put my boy to sleep, hardest thing I've ever done. i just can't remember names, but the lady that took care of my Horatio was so very sweet. They gave me time to say say Goodbye to my sweet boy, even though they were already closed. And that sweet lady with short white hair, told me, don't worry I'm going to take good care of him. And in situations like that, those are words of comfort you definitely want to hear. When I got his ashes back, they were in a beautiful urn in a velvet pouch, and they got a paw print for me too, along with a certificate of cremation. I appreciate Joranda with all my heart. I can ALWAYS get an appointment with the vet I want (planning in advance). They always allow walk-ins, but of course those with appointments are seen first. The staff remembers me and my pet. My first experience there was awesome, technician was very kind and attentive. My second visit was listed for 2:30. I was given a card with the date and time and verified through text. Got there and checked in only for them to tell me my appointment was at 2. I thought it was my mistake but got home and saw the card for 2:30. They took us in about 30 min later and the technician was rude and had short responses. My medium sized border collie was hesitant (of course going with a stranger) and was struggling to walk with the technician. She yanked on his collar a few times, rolled her eyes and then picked him up. All in front of my vehicle. When she brought him out, again very short with responses and rude. Could've been way gentler and nicer especially in this profession of dealing with others pets while we wait in the car. Called to talk to a manager who I was told wasn't present that day but would call me back. Never received the call. 10/10 will not be returning, plenty of other vet offices in town! read more

Worst experience ever! When Dr. Soules owned the clinic customer service was great and we receive excellent care. I waited 28 minutes on hold, sitting in their parking lot trying to check in for a scheduled appointment. When I called back the receptionist was rude and stated this was not an uncommon event. She acknowledged they did not have enough staff to answer the telephone. They are over-booked and unable to provide care. The clinic is corporately owned by Pathway Vet Alliance and has no connection with the community. Do not take your animals here if you are expecting a vet and staff who treat you like family. My found parakeet needed to be checked out. My sister found a parakeet outside near her home. She was unable to keep it so she asked me to take it. I was unsure of its overall condition and sex so I made an appointment with the exotic animal vet at Jornada. I wish I could remember her name because she was so great!! She checked my new bird, told me it was a girl and that it was very young and healthly. She clipped the wings and nails and took extra time to explain about parakeets and how to care for it. They then ran a blood test that I did not ask for and they still charged me because if I didn't pay they threatened to send my account to collections. We were traveling from California to Texas when our 15 yr old Mini Aussies got sick with diarrhea. We were frantic to help them feel better. On our way from Tucson to Las Cruces I called the office and explained our concerns regarding our fur babies. They said to bring them in as soon as we got to town. The staff so kind and reassuring. The Vet that saw our girls was extremely thorough, and explained what she thought was going on and how she came to the diagnosis. After two doses of antibiotics they are thankfully back to normal. I cannot say enough about the kindness and professionalism of all staff members! And they called the next morning to check in on how they were doing! We wish we could take Dr Soules with us and have her as their primary care Vet. read more

Took our 16 year old cat to Jornada clinic to be euthanized, after much thought and tears. Vets refused to do the sad deed without first giving Tiger an expensive exam prior to the decision to put him down. Daughter stressed several days prior to making this decision and was distraught. Tiger had signs and symptoms of kidney failure. We have owned cats over a lifetime and recognize deteriorating conditions. Vets kept saying it was their "oath to do no harm" but spent time insisting on the exam and would not back down. After a very heated encounter with them, my daughter agreed to exam. After the exam, they said Tiger could be put on IV of fluids and extensive antibiotic treatment. My daughter is a disabled adult on a fixed income and she felt it would further stress the cat and herself, taking this route. She had already made the sad and tough decision. They just prolonged this awful process for all of us. The bill came to $180! I think Jornada pads their bills and stresses patients financially and emotionally. Vets were condescending, patronizing, and insensitive! NEVER we will return to Jornada with our special pets! read more

We've been coming to this clinic for years now, and they have always been great with our dogs. The vets are very competent and they give you options for care. Unfortunately, the cost of veterinary care has gotten ridiculous, so if you bring your pets here, you are paying for THE BEST care at one of the highest prices in town. Again, they are VERY good at what they do, but if your wallet is slim, you might want to look at other options or even checking local programs. None of the vets in LC allow you to do payments anymore--not that I blame them--but it is unfortunate when your pet has $5-800 of surgery and you can't make arrangements without CareCredit. Still, the staff is great and you get what you pay for, which is why we continue to come here. read more

I had an appt scheduled at 11. I arrived at 10:45. It's now 2pm and I am just now leaving. "Oh it must've been a surgery or emergency" you might think. IT WAS A WELLNESS YEARLY EXAM!!!! My dogs say in my car for over an hour AFTER the scheduled appt. and then were in the clinic for 2 hours while I watched tech after tech, vet after vet, leave for lunch. So while I'm waiting to go about my normal day, you're all enjoying lunch. I haven't eaten. My dogs haven't eaten. I'm so glad you had your lunch and then charged me $400 after waiting over 3 freaking hours. Idk what is happening at this mess of a vet clinic, but if you make an appt, do NOT schedule anything else that day and pack a freaking picnic because you'll be stuck there forever. They tried to tell me they had emergencies come in, but when I had an emergency a month ago, I was told they didn't have time to fit me in and that I needed to go to El Paso instead! So do you just choose which animals you care for and which you don't give a f*** about?!? I'll be finding a new vet. You can take your 10% military discount and shove it. Edit to add: as soon as we got home my dogs chugged water because after 3 hours, NO ONE THOUGHT TO HYDRATE THE ANIMALS!!!!!! Also found out after my husband got home that he had simply scheduled a vaccine appt, yet they charged me for a yearly exam and the total was $400. It should've been closer to $60. read more

Over this past Thanksgiving weekend, our 18 year old cat Cheetah suddenly exhibited breathing problems and stopped eating. We were in the Las Cruces area with our RV and not familiar with the local vet clinics. We decided to take a chance and selected Jornada Clinic based on prior reviews. We showed up at clinic without an appointment and were taken immediately into an exam room. Dr. Nancy Soules examined Cheetah and confirmed our worst fear that saying goodbye would be the best option. Everything including the cremation was handled with compassion and professionalism. All of the staff we dealt with went out of their way to accommodate us and we feel that the charges were very reasonable. We would highly recommend this clinic. read more

It was a horrible situation, but the folks at Jornada Vet Clinic, and specifically Dr. Soules were terrific with the end of life care that they provided.
