He was aloof and seemed uncaring at almost every visit, but he was "the best on the island," so I went with him As my OB. About 2 months before my due date, I developed a hard spot in my breast. I told Dr. Peterson about it and his reply was "It's your milk coming in." He didn't look at the lump or even touch it! As a first time mom, I figured the "best doctor" knew what he was talking about. At each consequent visit for 2 months, I mentioned it to the doctor and nurse, and always got the same response. A few weeks before giving birth, I awoke with a terrible pain in my side. After a visit from EMS, I decided to forego the ER (pain had subsided) and call Dr. Peterson the next day. I was told it was the positioning of the baby. Fast forward... I gave birth, but still had the lump in my breast and pain in my side. For 2 days, the pain continued until at the urging of the neonatal nurse, an ultrasound was ordered. After a battery of scans, it was discovered that the lump in my breast was breast cancer that had metastasized to my liver, spine, and hip. The only thing I can remember Dr. Peterson (who became very caring at that point) saying was "Pregnant women don't get cancer." over and over. Well obviously they do, and after doing research, I read 1 in 3000 are diagnosed. It would've taken a few minutes, if not seconds, to check the lump. I don't know what would have been done differently and how it would have affected my pregnancy, but I do think that had Dr. Peterson showed even a little bit of concern, the cancer could have been found earlier and perhaps not have spread. Over a year later, I am still undergoing treatment for the cancer that has now spread to my brain. I realize mine is a special case that most women will not experience, but if you are looking for a doctor who will listen to and respond to your concerns, seek another doctor!

When I finally called the receptionist told me she could not give me any information over the phone. I had to take time off to go to the office and when I got there I was told they did not have any results. I just turned around and left. Called cologuard directly and they advised the results had been sent electronically over two weeks ago. I was able to get the results directly from the company and sent it to my GP. In addition, I told the NP about a pain near my kidney. She began to educate as to where my kidneys were located and laughed at me because I had pointed lower. Turns out I had a kidney stone that was traveling from my kidney south. Ended up having surgery to remove the embedded stone. Please listen to your patients, don't laugh at them and provide a professional atmosphere. Never once met the real doctor but if her office workers and NP are this unprofessional then not interested. Jorge walked me through the whole process, reassured me that everything was going to be alright, and made me feel comfortable the entire time. I was literally crying out in pain with the smallest movements. The office staff, including Kayla, were friendly and efficient. Kayla got me set up in a wheelchair and offered to bring me my ID and the check-in tablet so I wouldn't have to get up. We had quite a wait, but once we got in a room things moved quickly. My PA, Amy (with dark, curly hair--she says they have two Amys) was very compassionate and did a thorough exam, and collaborated with me on the treatment plan, including being willing to give me a steroid injection when I asked (after educating me on the pros and cons). She also gave me an rx for a muscle relaxant and OTC recommendations. Upon waking the next morning, I am still wincing and walking bent over, but no longer shouting and swearing from the pain. With three days left of vacation I have high hopes that I'll be able to mostly enjoy myself and participate gently in the rest of our planned activities. I recommend this clinic for acute health needs during your vacation.
