I went to this clinic three times before writing a review because I wanted to have more than one experience to draw from. The first time I went as a walk in because I'd read somewhere that they accept walk-ins. That's ONLY if you're already a patient of theirs. Soooo, I spent an hour in traffic from Los Feliz and God knows how much gas driving to this place to be told they don't take walk-ins for new patients. The waiting room was empty. Thankfully, I read here on Yelp that they have parking validation because no one mentioned it and I would have been stuck with a $21 parking free. I asked for the validation, paid the $4.00 (not $2 as it says on their site) and wasted gas driving back home. But I was impressed with the neighborhood and how friendly the staff was (especially the receptionists), even as they turned me away. Second try: I made an appointment and went in. I only waited about 20 minutes, which was great. I encountered really nice employees leading up to my exam. I'd expected a bad experience as I've always had a private doctor and insurance until recently. I'd heard horror stories about clinics treating women like crap and being located in really scary neighborhoods. The physician's assistant who saw me was a bit gruff in her bedside manner and I've never had a GYN be so rough during an exam. She then told me I needed to stop squirming and pulling up on the seat. And she seemed annoyed when I didn't understand her blunt question, "Are you bleeding?" to mean am I having normal menstrual cycles. We'd been talking about fibroids, so I thought the question was in relation to fibroids, not menstrual cycle. Overall, she was the person there that I really would like to have exchanged for someone else. But I wasn't harmed in any way, so I just chalked it up to a clinic experience versus a private doctor. I was asked for a donation and I gave $20. The third time I went (today) was for a well woman's exam. I made an appointment for 9 AM and I had a work related event at 11:00. I fought the hounds of hell to get there in the AWFUL traffic along Santa Monica Blvd only to sit in the waiting room nearly TWO HOURS. What was the point of an appointment? I changed the work appointment I had to 12 noon. I went to the window three times to ask what was going on. A very friendly nurse came out and got me for my vitals, asked me for a donation, then sat me back down in the waiting room where I watched several women who came in after me go into the back to see doctors. I was baffled. But each time I asked how much longer, I was told politely I'd be seen soon and was given an apology. Finally, after two hours, I told them I could not wait any longer. I was so stressed and upset that I nearly burst into tears in the parking lot. Another woman in the parking lot asked me which doctor I'd seen and how did I like the experience. I told her I'd not seen a doctor and she was confused. "You were never seen??? You were there when I got there ." Exactly. I paid my $4.00 AGAIN for parking without being seen. They have a 15 minute grace period for patient arrival but I can sit in the waiting area for two hours past my appointment time??? Although I believe they mean well and they are very kind, I don't know if I'll go back. I don't understand why they'd double and triple book. Because it's low cost doesn't mean it's right to waste people's time. I'm so disappointed because I was very happy about this clinic and told a couple of friends how wonderful it was. read more

Pro: It's a place if you're in a financial bind. If you make under $1,900 per month monthly income you qualify for a free doctor's appointment and whatever else you're there for, if you make more money than that, you pay a fraction of what you would pay anywhere else. Also, my doctor was awesome and really friendly, she even gave me free samples because they didn't sell my medication in-house. Con: You will wait for a very long time, even with an appointment! I waited for 2 hrs to see a doctor even with a scheduled appointment. In total I was there for 3 hrs. Bring a fully charged phone, sandwich and some reading material because you'll need it! read more

If you're a broke/uninsured ignorant person who just needs a pap or birth control, this is the place for you. They will treat you like a broke, poor girl and you are so lucky to have found them. If you have anything more serious with your female parts and you question the "Good Dr." they will refer you to another clinic. They do not want women with problems. They will also make assumptions about your lifestyle & finances because you chose to go to a free clinic because this is their "normal clientele." I was appalled at the assumptions they made, and after a mis-diagnosis that I called them on, I was quickly tagged team by no less than THREE people on a conference call "referring" me to another center where I can get the help I need. I want to give this place a 4 star for what it is but the front two receptionist threw me off when I overheard them making small judgements after each phone calls with their patients and talking about their privacy (cases) out loud enough for me to hear in the waiting room. I wonder if they talk about my personal situation when I'm not there too. Also, the parking is $24 if you don't get a validation. Even then you'd have to pay about $4 due to the fact that even with an appointment you have to wait in the waiting room for about 40-45 min to have a 5-10 min consultation. First- You get first class service here. The location is safe, the office is clean, the building is very nice. AND the STAFF IS AMAZING!!!! Second- The parking is validated and would only cost you $4, NOT $21. And there is always street parking. Third- If you get Marion the Nurse Practitioner; you'd get the best care. I think she's just as smart if not smarter than most doctor's I've seen. And for sure she is sweeter and more caring than any doctor I've seen. Even in the pain I was in, I couldn't help but smile and laugh in her presence. She was so friendly and personable, she instantly put me at ease. The long story- I LOVE this place. I came here because I was in so much pain and could not for the life of me get a hold of my family doctor for several months. I finally broke down and made an appointment here. Yes I was a little hesitant because I thought this was a place for people without insurance or of low-income. Thus, I didn't think I could get quality service here. I was expecting second class service and treatment, but I was in so much pain, I didn't care and I wanted to find out what is wrong with me. Again I was proven wrong. The staff was efficient, friendly, professional, and on top of everything. The place is clean and comfortable. It was nicer than my general doctor's place. Even though I had a appointment, I waited 30 minutes after my appointment time. But I can see why....they actually listen to your problems and do not rush you. To them, it's not a money generating game of how many patients you can get in and out in a day, but rather, how many patients they can help. So I have no complaints in having to wait, since they actually listen to you and get a thorough report of your family history, your concerns, your problem, and your lifestyle....which can play a big part of your health. After my exam, I was waiting for my ultrasound because Marion, the NP was very concern about my situation, she rushed my results for the doctor to review. She had her suspicion, thus the ultrasound. And thank goodness, for her concerns, I was given a prescription and a referral to a surgeon. Luckily it was nothing life threatening, but she was rightly VERY VERY upset...physically upset with my previous doctor (my general doc) who performed my pap and exam not more than 4 months ago; not diagnosing my problem. Even my current OBGYN was taken aback by how any doctor would have missed this problem of mine. I HIGHLY recommend this place for both male and females. Even if you have insurance, I recommend this place. Free service if you have low-income. Low cost if you have good income. read more

This is pretty much the best free clinic I have ever been to! Thank god I found this place! I found this place after basically being cut off from my birth control like a fiending crack addict after I was unaware you were required to do a yearly pap smear to keep it. Needing to get my BC back A.S.A.P, but longer having insurance to afford an appointment with my old doctor (who at that point I never wanted to see again) and being unable to get an appointment that worked with my schedule at planned parenthood, I found this place in yelp and noticed they had walk-in hours. Boy, am I glad I did! The Women's Clinic is convenient to the Westside and the doctors and staff here actually care for you as best they can. They don't treat you like cattle being rushed through in order to make the best profit. Unlike stories I have heard of other clinics, the wait here was in a nice clean environment that looked considerably more like a well kept dermatologist waiting room then a clinic. Yes, it's a still a free clinic. Yes, you will have a long wait as a walk-in (I had to wait 2 hrs when I just walked-in). Despite that downside, all the staff here are friendly and attentive, especially for a place where people might be nervous, stressed out, or frustrated at them. I have only been here for birth control/ required yearly pap smear, and while I can't say that you might want to go here for something you think might be very serious, it's a life savor for pap smears , birth control, and screenings. Being low income I got all of those things for a donation fee only. Also, although I haven't utilized any of these services, this clinic also offers counseling services and mammograms for a low fee. Tips: * Make an appt for anything other than free condoms * Bring a magazine or book as cell reception isn't very good in the waiting room. OK. I want to be fair here. But... I have done my Physician Assisting (DR without an MD) hours at one of Stanford's clinics in the most destitute area of California... Eastern Sacramento. And I have a few complaints. But I also have some great things to say about Women's Clinic. Let's start here: I arrived 20 minutes early for my 2:00 New Patient appointment; this is what everyone should plan on when first seeing a Dr. PERIOD. However, I was not acknowledged until 2:05. My NEWLY ACTIVATED Family PACT card (a program of Medi-cal, which is available to any woman under 55 who is not planning on becoming pregnant & is not currently eligible for Medi-Cal but who falls at or below the Federal CA poverty line {21,000 per year for a one-person household.} was immediately denied. Yeah.... shocking since you can't live in LA for less than $40K). Yes, it's true: even I, in this ridiculous economy, fall just above the "P-Line" while I try to quit grad school and get a job worthy of my 10-yr medical skills and IVY league education. I was asked to re-certify my status, which, to my limited knowledge, is not within their scope of rights. With the same income as preciously certified, I was promptly given a denial of coverage due to my income, though it fell just dollars above the P-line. "You should have lied", I was told by my friend. Without making this a political discussion, I will simply say: I will NOT lie about my income. It is the 41% of persons who DO LIE who are responsible for us VERY likely not getting our social security pensions when we become eligible for them. I will not defraud the government, no matter how corrupt they may be. Period. This is what causes the system (Medi-Cal, SS, Disability, etc) to break down: unscrupulous people who find nothing wrong with playing with the system. That, I will not do. Both as a citizen who cares about those who legitimately NEED federal money, and as the daughter of only a handful of Obstetric high risk specialists who agree to accept medi-cal patients in CA. I proceeded to wait 30 minutes to have my BP and weight taken (BP was performed incorrectly, BTW). Note: there is more to having your vital signs taken than just BP and weight... Once "roomed", I again waited 21 minutes for the Nurse Practitioner to arrive. Not her fault. Or the clinic's for that matter... these places are busy because of the state of the economic crisis. At least people are coming in and getting birth control!!! The NP was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, and extremely kind (at this point, I admit, I was a bit pissed off). She did her exam quickly, efficiently and even talked to me about OB/GYN as a specialty. I was very pleased with her bedside manner and her professionalism. After speaking with the office manager about the status of my FPACT insurance, I still did not agree with their practices, but I honor that they were so willing to sit down with me and explain their policy. I felt as though I was being spoken to as an equal, which, if you work in medicine... you know, is a rarity. All-in-all, I paid $105 hard-earned dollars for my exam. But I think they earned it, no matter how long I waited. I do plan to donate to their cause (when I recover from the bill) as I firmly believe in what they're advocating for: responsible health and responsible reproduction. I would recommend with one caveat: whatever you do: DO NOT PARK IN THE STRUCTURE. Because I waited 2 hours total for a 10 minute exam, I paid $21 to just park my damn car. Now... if you have Medi-Cal and you can pay that (I can't!!)... have some respect for the rest of us and find another goddamned doctor, OK? read more

Affordable clinic for annual pap check and various female services. The facility is very clean and they validate your parking in the structure. You pay here based on your income or by donation. I've been a few times and have been seen a different female doctor every time. They are always very nice and the waiting room wait time isn't too bad. I don't think I've waited for more than 30 minutes max. Which is great compared to Planned Parenthood's 1-2 hour wait time. Not sure how much walk-in's have to wait though. It takes 2-4 weeks sometimes to get an actual appointment, so plan accordingly. Also, they don't do ultrasounds in office anymore, but can refer to you another facility which does them for around $60. They also prescribe various types of birth control and offer supports and counseling. I haven't used their counseling services, but they offer different times of counseling, group and one-on-one therapies.Great clinic for a female without medical insurance! read more

Medical matters cost a lot these days and in this nation there are so few people with health insurance so what's a person to do when they want good medical care but can't afford the $100+ various doctor visits? Women's Clinic has you covered for all your reproductive needs. They provide services for men and women (despite their name they do see guys) on a sliding scale fee basis. Yearly exams for women, STD testing, birth control and family planning...they even provide counseling services for various issues. I ask you, where can you get counseling in LA on the cheap by a professional? I can't think of too many places.... It's a sad notion to me that this country has to have places like this in business so that everyone can receive needed health care but thankfully they are around so people can get the exams and counseling they need without breaking the bank. read more

Happy this clinic is offering services for reproductive needs, however, I still am baffled by their intake process for counseling services. I was recommended to come here as the three other free clinic's I tried out after moving to LA were frickin' scary as hell. This one was a dream in comparison, clean and up-to-date and CLEAN. I've been going here for over the past two years to get my lady problems and exams handled. If you read Beth T's review, she's stated the gist of their program rather well. I'm self-employed and don't make very much so this is a perfect way for me to not ignore problems and get myself maintenanced, so to speak. The staff is friendly and the doctors are as well. When you make an appt., it's better to get a live person to schedule one (as they have twice before not returned my phone call). You can park in the attached parking structure and get validation for your visit to the clinic, so you're not going to be late due to looking for a space. But the walk from the parking to the suite is a little bit of a labyrinth, so come early if your memory is fuzzy or it's your first time. Also, come early to fill out paperwork, as you will be filling out a few pages, same questions, EVERY time. I guess it's to keep your file up to date. Whatever. This is a great place to go to, and I chose to make that bit of a drive in return for trusted care. And birth control pills. read more

I have full insurance coverage. Good for me! Um.. except when I need medical care I can't get an appointment. So I looked up this place on Yelp and I'm so glad I did. Secure parking? Check. Great parking staff? double check. Clean clininc with friendly and expedient staff? You got it. I had no appointment and they saw me within an hour of my arrival. I think that's great. Added bonus? I got to watch Sex and the City the movie, which they had playing on their waiting room TV. I paid $35 and got a perscription and here it is the next day and I already feel better . Yay! I've been looking for a new ob/gyn service and decided to doctor shop to compare and see where I would be treated the best. I went first to Planned Parenthood in Santa Monica. There, I felt like I was in a factory production line. Very impersonal. Lots of people waiting. Difficult to get an appointment, overcrowded offices etc, etc. From there, I ventured forth to the Women's Clinic. I needed a health test done on a specific day and couldn't get an appointment, so went in as a walk-in. I lucked out on a Friday morning as they were not very busy that day. The office decor, environment, location, would lead you to believe that you are not in a state-run clinic, but an upscale doctor's office. It was as nice, or nicer than most doctor's office's I've been to. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming, unlike my real doctor's office where today I walked in to wait a full 5 minutes for anyone to even come to the front desk and where I could overhear the catty admin staff in the back say, "i could have slapped that bitch!" At the Women's Clinic, I saw Dr. Carla Janzen and thank goodness, because I would have freaked if I had to see the male doctor. She was polite, humorous, professional, explained things very thoroughly. Although I didn't qualify for free, my fees were pro-rated and I paid and it was worth every cent. It was a dignified experience, I felt respected and listened to. I give the Women's Clinic a thumbs-up. read more

I absolutely love Women's Clinic. My sister referred me and told me how happy she was coming here. I can book an appointment easily for the same day sometimes or within the next two days. The staff is helpful and they are always in a good mood. The nurse practitioners are amazing women who really care about you and make you feel important. I have hardly ever spent over 45 minutes waiting to be called in. Usually, I am in and out in about an hour and half. They do have walk-in hours as well! Call and ask for the times. ****Parking is $2 for an hour with validation. You have to ask the lady at the front desk for the validation! Remember to always make a donation when you come in for services. It would be horrible if this place ever closes their doors due to lack of funds. read more

If you are looking for a clinic that is fast, friendly and clean I would completely recommend going here. The staff were very nice and confidential. The Dr. was efficient and answered all of my questions. I even made a follow up appointment because I felt comfortable enough to keep going there. Got an appointment the same day at 2:00 for new patients. I waited about 20 minutes but its much better than waiting 2 hours with an appt at Planned Parenthood. My annual exam was $130 minus blood work for HIV and syphilis because I dont have insurance and I make too much money. The nurse practitioner was kind and professional. She answered my questions. It was quick and painless. I would go back again. The only complaint I have is it smelled like cigarettes in the waiting room. But it could of just been someone sitting in there. read more

I LOVE this place. Few months a go I'm so desperately looking for Obgyn to check pap smear annually ..I look n look but no one available, most of them give me a month or so. I couldn't wait that long because I have to get a results ASAP due the problem I got in my left tummy ( cramp come n go )I don't know what is wrong but the doctor I went to (around Hollywood) told me I have to check..then i found this clinic.. Thank God The staffs are friendly and nice and The NP Marion she is really sweet and make you comfortable during check. I was "out of network" but needed to be seen, and decided to stop by Women's Clinic after checking reviews on Yelp. I have insurance (note: the Women's Clinic does not accept insurance), and I had never been to a clinic for care, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very happy with my visit! I was in an out in about 30 minutes, it was relatively inexpensive (I paid $30 or so) and everyone was helpful and nice. The sitting room is a bit dark, but the actual exam rooms are very clean, bright and just like every doctor's office I've been in. I really recommend this place as an option for anyone who is out of range of their primary care physician but needs non-urgent care. Just note that it may take several hours to schedule an appointment, as they require you to leave a message and then they call you back to set up a time (I left a message at 8am, and didn't get a call back until about noon). Still, it wasn't all that inconvenient, and everything else went very smoothly. read more

I LOVE this place. I recently had a terrible UTI and I woke up one morning and I couldn't take it anymore. I went to their walk in appointments that they have set up in the morning. It took about 2 hours but I got all my services for free and they even set me up with a State Card so I get free prescriptions and services at other offices too! The staff were AMAZING. Very Clean. I went in at around 9:00 and got out ALOT later because there was a little mess up (another girl went in when they called my name apparently. I didn't hear my name at all to be honest). Basically, you check in, receptionist calls you, you sign sheets/paper work, urine test, blood pressure whatever, then you see the doctor. The receptionist was such a sweet gal! she answered all my questions kindly and was smiling the entire time. I felt really comfortable there too because of her. the doctor was equally nice and caring and I got what I needed right away and also ended up qualifying for a program (despite having student health insurance, I would have to pay 250 summer school health center fee + 350 deductible... and my insurance is going to end on august 15th anyhow). I actually didn't have to pay anything because I'm just getting out of school, not sure of my employment, future, place of residence... nothing. The place is also clean which is great. read more

I've been here 4 times and i've only had good experiences. The staff are always friendly. And the nurses and doctors really make sure all your concerns are covered. i got great advice. They are always busy but they definitely still take great care of you. Try to go in the morning (before noon) as a walk-in or with an appointment. i've gone twice before noon, and twice after noon. i never had to wait long in the mornings but certainly had a longer wait in the afternoon. i guess it does get busy! But i don't mind. These guys are doing such a great job. Giving you health advice and making sure you are super comfortable. Do try to give a donation as every little bit counts. read more

I went today to the clinic for the first time. It was very easy to find and park. Everyone there was very friendly and professional. I saw Marion a nurse practitioner for a pap smear and breast exam. Sh e could not have been more personal and comfortable to talk to. I also got a mammogram here. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone who doesn't have insurance and cannot afford to go to regular doctor. my only complaint would be I had a 9am appt and waited an hour before I was seen. The BEST hands down!! Great friendly staff!!! I recently, made 2 visits to The Clinic. And both times, I found the Nurses and the entire staff to be friendly and helpful! During both visits I was extremely tense, because frankly getting paps are not fun. OR an examine of any sort!! Both times the nurses actually cared!! They took the time to explain everything that was happening and everything that they were doing to my body!! And honestly when I had health insurance, Blue Cross, the Doctors were never so empathetic and caring!! And even several years ago, during my first visit I remember the staff being equally as good!! Thank you so much for making my visits comfortable and empowering. Tovah, one of the nurses even took the time to explain a chart of female anatomy to me!! I cannot say ANYTHING bad about this place. Having come from the Midwest college town last year, I was expecting the worst. Even the PP in my old town had a tendency to be not as great as it should have been. (I know it's not politically correct to say, but I blame the Bible thumpers honestly). This place is fantastic! If I ever need ANYthing I will be going here. I work two jobs and can't afford health insurance like I should have and this place is clean, organized, the staff is very efficient and knowledgeable, and I didn't feel like I was being judged for coming in for birth control (which has been an issue at some places I have been!) Definitely go here! They also have a discounted price for parking in the garage too, so don't worry about spending 20 bucks to park or wandering around and being late cause you couldn't find a space. Oh, and I apparently qualified to be a member or something, which means I got my annual checkup for no cost! This place is a God send for women who need checkups but can't afford insurance on their own! read more

I've visited this clinic three times, for a reg. check up, and two followups. Every time I've encountered nothing but cheeriness and understanding from all the staff. First visit, they ask if you would like to donate money, but on subsequent visits there is no undue pressure to donate (tho if you can afford to, it is worth it). Book an appt a.s.a.p. as their calendar does get full, arrive within 15 min of your appt or you won't be seen, and when using the parking garage (who's rates have just gone up: $10 for 2 hours, validated!) make sure the front desk validates your parking. You'll likely encounter reg clinic wait times of 20-45 min, so bring a magazine and enjoy their comfy waiting room chairs. Clinic is in a nice area, nice clean building, with super friendly staff, and quick and thorough doctors. Understand that being a clinic, they are sometimes understaffed, but seem to always do their best to see everyone quickly. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. My doctor here is seriously the kindest doctor I have ever had. She takes her time, is very gentle, nice, and caring. She doesn't try to rush me in and out the door. Yes, there is a wait, but I have never been to the doctor before and not had to wait. Even when I had private insurance. I don't think the wait is too long. It seems like a pretty average wait time for a doctor's office. They are very busy here and are doing what they can to see everyone as quickly as possible while also giving each patient the care they need. I felt really bad for the staff last time I was here when there was a patient that was very rude to the nurses because she had to wait an hour. This clinic will see you for free if you are low income. And they are very caring. I don't see what there is to complain about. I highly recommend this clinic. read more

The NP's here are really wonderful. I met with two separate NP's during my two visits here, and both were extremely detailed and thorough with everything. The doctors here don't try and rush you out and they really take the time to listen to you and find the best course of action. I've had very pleasant experiences both times I was here and the rest of the staff are also very friendly and accommodating. Keep in mind that even with an appointment, you may be waiting anywhere from 30 min to an hour to be seen. There is a parking garage downstairs but make sure to ask for validation or you'll end having to pay like $24. I am so thankful for what this clinic does! read more

I am so devastated this place is closing in October, so unfair. They can't get funding anymore because of the new healthcare laws. I have been going here since the 90s it is such an important resource. The staff, clinicians, and doctors have all been amazing. It is clean safe and friendly. I usually go to plan B in Burbank because it's cheaper and clean but I needed somewhere where I was cared for and not always in the rush so I asked my friends about a good Womans Clinic. I don't make enough money and they helped me out with a Green Card that covers most of your visits and medications. My nurse was Marianne Meyers I hope I spelled her name right she was super cool, funny and very attentive to my health concerns.
