WEEK 1: So far so good! I just enrolled my son in the part time preschool class. It is by far the most affordable facility program in our area which to me shows that it isn't all about the bottom line. Going into this I probably have semi high expectations since I run my own daycare in home & I know what to look for. I am satisfied so far. This was also my son's very first time leaving home & in case you're wondering why I am paying a daycare when I run one at home the answer is that my son should have started kindergarten this year but missed the cut-off due to his birthday. I felt like he was ready to start but since he can't, I wanted to at least start the transition slowly into this next phase of his life. Even tho it was his first time leaving home he has not cried or asked to stay home or anything like that. He really seems to enjoy it and he really loves Ms. Smita, one of the pre-k teachers. I've been teaching him how to read & write for a while now but he doesn't always perform for me because I am his mom. UPDATE: A few weeks have passed & they put a new teacher in the pre-k room. Ms. Gwen has a no nonsense attitude which is okay w/ me because I feel my kid needs a strict environment in order to be attentive & get the most out of the class. However the downside to that is she can come off somewhat cold & my son doesn't really enjoy his time there as much, again not the end of the world to me since I'm not paying for them to entertain his every whim rather to teach him age appropriate materials & "gradually" ease him into a school-aged routine. My only problem I am running into is their emphasis on "prepping" for kindergarten leaves me feeling like they sometimes forget that they're NOT YET in kindergarten. They will still need some help in area's like shoe lace tying etc. At the end of the day they're still "PRE-schoolers" which is a step PRIOR to school. Having said all of this I would like to feel a bit more warmth from the teachers & staff. I went out the other evening and let my son help me pick out a gift for his whole class, to keep there. We picked out a big wooden puzzle to present to the teacher the next day. Being a teacher myself I was trying to think of something that would be practical & educational as well. I wrote a little note on the puzzle "To: WVA Preschool Class" I was a bit thrown off when it was sent back home with my son that evening. I guess I may be just cut from a different cloth but when it comes to caring for other people's children I want them to feel just as "welcome," "warm" & "at home" as they would in their own homes. I put as much, sometimes more time, patience & effort into their overall development as I do with my own children. I try to treat them how I would want my own child(ren) being treated. With love and compassion. The one thing I feel is lacking here is people who truly have a passion for working with our future generation. read more

Front desk staff and director are very welcoming. I was impressed with how clean and spacious the main entrance and classrooms were. As I was transitioning jobs and childcare from Fairfax to Prince William. I was visiting many schools within the area and was not pleased some were over crowded, staff weren't welcoming. I enrolled my toddler and his teacher MB is amazing. She is very sweet, soft spoken and caters to each child specific needs. read more

My husband and I have six children, ranging from a college graduate to a 5 year old. Our kids have been in numerous daycares/aftercare/preschool programs and WVA is the best!!! The genuine love they have for these kids is amazing. Our 5 year old is autistic, and he has made so many gains with the help of WVA and Ms. Tani in particular. She did so much to help our little guy that it made it hard to leave. The owner and the management staff are excellent, and went above and beyond to facilitate the needs of our son. WVA is a perfect blend of a home and corporate based daycare. They genuinely care. My husband and I are forever grateful! Forget the numerous corporate type daycares in our area. I've had my 19m son in this center since he was 4 months old. He loves his teachers and the staff. The teachers all take very good care of my son and seem to love him back. My child comes home with new words daily and sometimes he doesn't even want to leave because he is having so much fun. I would recommend WVA to any parent as a great place for childcare! read more

The school hours have changed. 5:45am-6:30pm I believe they need to look further into hiring the right teachers. Ms Gwen was by far the best teacher who is no longer working there. She acknowledged kids for their great work. They need more teachers like her with her experience and way of educating students. read more

The teachers here are amazing, my girlfriend was one of them and always had good things to say about her coworkers there (the other teachers) but never about her boss. Huma Khan , there was always something going on with her boss , The school director. She's told me stories in almost tears of frustration about how bad her day went or even started because of Huma. My Girlfriend had worked there for a while and never got the respect she should've from her boss. She's told me stored about see her boss YELL at her employees , instead of being professional and calling them into the office and even in the office give off a stank attitude. No boss has the right to yell or raise their voice at there employees. Because if anything a Boss NEEDS his employees more than a Employee needs their boss. My girlfriend has moved on to big and better things , Thank God. Huma you should be more understanding with you employees, when a emergency comes up it's an emergency for a reason , when a mistake happens it's a mistake for a reason. I'm sure you make mistakes as well. Make your employees want to go to work not fear having to get yelled by you. And to the owners , I'm writing this because I know for a FACT some teachers are to "scared" to contact you and tell you how Huma actually is with YOUR staff. Just like my girlfriend but I won't let it slide. I work in a place where if I have an emergency , not feeling well or a mistake my boss UNDERSTANDS and doesn't text back with attitude (which i have proof of ... plenty) or have the need to yell at my face. To where my girlfriend has told me she's seen / experience her getting at teachers with the children in the class seeing everything, not professional at ALL ! I wouldn't want my kid there if they're principal is being mean to their teacher and have to ask the teacher if they are ok after. I hope you open your eyes and take serious action before Huma decides to yell and be rude to the wrong person. If you're looking to work here don't. Thank you. read more

IF YOU SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS MAKESHIFT CHILD CARE CENTER, YOU MAY AS WELL SEND THEM TO THE NATIONAL ZOO! STAY AWAY!!! From the staff yelling and having no control over the children, to the smell of garbage in every classroom, you are setting your child up for failure. My son attended two days of hell! He was hit several times, thrown dirt on, etc..by the non-behaved children. To make matters worse, when brought to the teacher's attn, she could barely speak English so she didn't understand my complaint. There were approximately 15 kids to one classroom running wild, jumping off of tables, hitting one another, everyone was sick etc.. This establishment is very antique and the upkeep was unhealthy. After paying full price for the week, I took my son out of the school on his second day and was advised of no refund and that I should have stayed an entire day at the school to see if I liked it. Poor management skills for sure, kids out of control and destructive. Everyone had a snotty nose and the most important clue that I should've picked on was, NONE OF THE CHILDREN BEING DROPPED OFF WERE HAPPY! They were all crying and begging not to go inside. If you send your child here, you are asking for them to be raised as a wild animal with no structure, etc. Children Of America is so much better!!!! 100 percent better at that! read more

I pulled my child from this school a little over a year ago because of the teachers mental and emotional abuse.I wanted to do it earlier because there is no real curriculum and there was no real foundation for growth. I was told that one of the teachers was making fun of him because he had a bit of a stutter. I was also told that some parents would call licencing due to other complaints, but nothing would be done. It got so bad that the police were called due to the owners only concern for getting the weekly check. A couple of children were unsupervised in a bathroom and the little girl said something inappropriate happened. So glad ingot my baby out. I'm sorry for not posting this earlier. Infant room review: We enrolled our son at WVA back in November 2018 (when he was 4 months old). Prior to finding WVA we had him enrolled at another location, but, we didn't have the openness and more one-on-one attention we desired. When I did my initial walk-through with the director, Ms. Huma, she answered all of my questions. She explained to me what was included in the weekly fee and they have ample play space for the kids. I'm a "clingy" mom when it comes to children under the age of one. As a result, I spent the next two weeks transitioning my son into the daycare. Yes, I sat their for 2 and 3 hours stretches 3 days a week evaluating how the teachers cared for the kids and how they treated them. The staff never complained about me quietly watching them and observing what was going on. After two weeks I did pop up visits. I never saw anything strange, out of the ordinary, or concerning. Once I got comfortable with his lead teacher, Ms. Tara, I pulled back and let her take the reigns. Ms. Tara is an amazing, thoughtful, loving, caring teacher! Initially, I thought she wasn't going to be accommodating but you just need to get to know her and her style of communicating. ALL of the kids love her and stop by to give her hugs even when they move to the pre-toddler room. I love the flexibility of management and the supporting staff. They are truly amazing folks. We have enjoyed our time at their daycare. We're now at a stage where our son is off the wait list at another location with our other son (so for convenience purposes only) we're moving him to the same location. We will miss Ms. Huma, Ms. Tara, and all the rest of the ladies! Thank you for taking care of our little one for all these months. read more

My child has been attending since in the infant room and is leaving when Kindergarten stats this fall. There have been a mixture of teachers that I thought were fantastic and some that I thought were so-so. I actually came upon the comments while searching for their phone number today to call and ask a question. The teacher the person commented about on 6/22/18 (Ms. Mita) is no longer there. That was in the pre-K classroom and my child was not yet in that classroom and was in the 3's with Ms. Tani -- who I give so much credit to toilet training and just being an exceptional loving teacher -- but I do know my child encountered that former teacher in Pre-K and I don't know what happened but suddenly did not want to go to Pre-K when it was going to be time to transition -- I thought it was just the love for the current teacher but realized there was something more to it after it would come up . After some talking with my child it sounds like the teacher was yelling at with children -- then again my child said another teacher was hitting the children and when I asked her to show me what happens she picked up a baby doll and showed how the teacher would burp the babies by hitting their back, so I wasn't sure how correct the interpretation was and my child wasn't in Ms. Mita's classroom and I had not met the teacher so I didn't really know. Right after I was told this when I went to pick up at the end of the day my child was in the Pre-K classroom and the teacher there at the time said Ms. Mita was no longer there and she didn't know what happened. So - by the time I knew of an issue Ms. Mita was already no longer there. Having said that, look at all the other daycares in the area - Minnieville for example and how many times inappropriate things have happened at various centers leading to the arrest of employees. It can happen anywhere and I think under any management - home day care or a center. It doesn't matter how much money you pay it can happen where you have a bad apple that hurts a child (physically/emotionally, etc.) Use your intuition and don't have a laissez-faire attitude, spend a few minutes to talk to the teachers every day (I do) - I see a lot of parents quite honestly that don't seem to care - they open the door to the classroom and call for the child to come to them and say let's go. They don't even talk to the teacher. In the morning they open the door let the child in, wave and leave. If you have a concern bring it to a staff member's attention, or pop in unannounced, etc. Thankfully my daughter has really excelled here - she can write all her letters and knows the sounds of them and is so excited to learn to read in Kindergarten. The teachers spend time reading to the kids and do circle time, they do have structure, but it is a preschool/daycare program so the entire day is not going to have "textbook" learning, they learn to share and take turns and line up to go outside, listen to the teachers, manners, how to clean up their plate after they eat, helping the teacher/being the leader for the line, etc. - and they do assessments on the kids every 6 months you have parent/teacher conference and you can (at any time) look at the progress of your child (they all have goals for your child to meet and observation days so it's fun to read what the teacher observed your child do that showed they had "met" a goal - for example a goal in sharing feelings might be they observed your child hug another child when they were sad that they had a toy taken away by another child or something). I don't feel like they advertise enough that they do this (I didn't know they had been until the first conference), and I'm assuming all daycares do something similar but I don't know. Based on my 4 years of experience going through every classroom I would recommend it for others, I do feel like my child is very loved by the staff and it feels like family and I know she will be sad to leave her teachers and friends shortly! read more

I rate the teachers at this school 4-5 stars but the office staff (one in particular) as a 1-2 stars. The school originally was open until 8pm daily but then suddenly in March with very little warning started closing at 7pm. They couldn't have waited until the end of the school year to do that? Make sure you ask a lot questions! read more

Let me start off by saying this is just my bad experience with this daycare, not all people have bad experiences, but I wanted to share mine so other parents can judge for themselves. So, this place seemed amazing when I signed my infant up. The director and staff were so nice. The infant room was huge and smelt clean, compared to other daycare's I toured. Also, their weekly part-time rates and even full-time rates were amazing (But, with cheap prices means cheaper pay on the staff). My daughter went for 3 days then contracted the Roseola virus from another baby there. First off, most daycare's from what I've been told, usually have to put up a sign stating what kind of sickness is going around...this place does not do that.My baby was sick for 2 weeks, so I could not bring her to daycare. When she was better, I brought her back to daycare and when I picked her up on her first day back, her onesie was filthy...now mind you, I had 3 onesies and several other outfits in her little cubby, so that when she does spit up milk, or get pee on herself, they could change her...they did not. So the next day I just asked the caregivers that they please change her if she spits up on herself they said they would. I picked her up later that day, she was filthy again. Once I got home I went to change my daughters diaper and to my surprise she was not wearing the brand of diapers I had provided them to use on her. I didn't think anything of it really, I just thought, oh maybe she ran out of diapers already and they forgot to tell me. So the next time I picked her up from daycare, and the time after that, she was yet again, in someone else's diapers. I buy the pamper swaddles, that have the blue line in the center so you can tell when she has wet herself, and these diapers she would come home in were just generic plain diapers (the pampers I bought her had sesame street characters on them). I ended up just asking one of the caregivers to let me know if she has run out of diapers, they told me she still has about 10 diapers left but to get more for the next week, so I ended up buying a big box of 148 but only brought in half that come in clear packaging (which was 74 diapers). The last day my daughter was a daycare, I came to pick her up and was told she was a little fussy and was in a quiet room, so they showed me where to go and when I opened this blue door, her favorite caregiver was with her along with another caregiver and two other babies. My daughters caregiver immediately started talking to me very aggressively saying "You hold her too much at home, you can't be holding her all the time. You make my job difficult, and I don't have time to watch her anymore. I have 2 other babies I have to watch too and all your baby wants to do is be picked up and held..." I kept telling her that my husband and I actually don't hold her that much, and before I could get another word out or tell her that her grandparents hold her a lot and that shes been fussy at home due to teething, she just cut me off and repeated herself over and over again...Ok, first off NO ONE SHOULD EVER ASSUME OR TELL A PARENT HOW TO RAISE THEIR OWN CHILD, PERIOD! Needless to say I was furious. I picked up my daughter and went straight home to call the daycare director, who was not there. So I spoke with someone else and told them exactly what happened. They just kept apologizing and saying she should have never spoke to me that way. I told her had this caregiver spoke to me in a calm way, and only made suggestions or recommendations to help with my childs care, I would not be so pissed off. So...I ended up taking my daughter right out of that daycare. When I went to drop off my last weeks tuition the director was extremely rude. My husband even said they were extremely rude to him when he had gone the week before to pick up her diapers and clothes. BTW, when he picked up her diapers, there were half of the 74 missing and I had just brought those diapers in on her last day...so how did MY CHILD use 37 diapers in 1 day??? Yea, this daycare obviously uses diapers on other babies. I would NOT recommend this daycare to any parent with an INFANT. It does look like toddlers and childern enjoy this daycare, but this is not the right place for babies. read more
