I cannot recommend more highly. My daughter has been at Chesterbrook for 1.5 years since our move from North Carolina. My husband and I were not only worried about the transition to a new state, but also transitioning our little one from a new daycare program. Luckily, those worries were quickly remedied when we saw the love and compassion the Chesterbrook leadership and staff have for the children. My daughter absolutely loves her teachers and the leaders there - Kristen, Lina, Venice, Nai'Kaila and Abhi have made her feel loved, special and safe every single day. Even more, she has come so far from an education and social standpoint. At 3 yrs old she is funny and confident, knows her ABCs, can count from 1-30 in English and Spanish, her shapes and so much more. We've been taking our son to CBA in Lakeridge since he was 7 months old, and it's hard to believe he is almost 3 now. I cannot express how grateful I am for the care and attention he receives there. He has learned so much since he started, including getting a head start on potty training. The entire staff is incredibly nurturing and attentive, ensuring that each child feels safe and valued. He began school with Ms. Janae and Ms. Shauntae, who cheered him on as he started to crawl and walk. Now, he's absolutely obsessed with his favorites, Ms. Venice and Ms. Nai'Kaila, as he learns to sing songs, all his colors, the best dances, and practicing writing his name. Communication from the staff is excellent; they provide regular updates on my son's progress and are always open to discussing any concerns I might have. My daughter started attending CBA in woodbridge when she was 18 months old. As a first-time mom it was very difficult to leave my daughter so having her in a safe and loving environment has made things so much easier. Well I was really excited about taking a tour there to visit because of their curriculum and program structure. Also the play ground is nicely covered and modern and for the most part looked maintained and up kept. Now what I didn't like was with the entry, it's not secure no buzz entry or locked safety but so the lady who was at the front desk was very aggressive, no passion or cheer within her greetings. It was like she use to saying the same script when parents check them out. Next the classroom I visited was not fresh, smelled very bad. The room itself is small in dimension, not many activities or age appropriate toys, I noticed majority of the books are beat up badly warn edges, and sitting on an old book shelf, the dirtiest broom ever imaginable and filthy trash can near the bathroom which is located in the room, built into this already not so big space. I just think for the cost of daycare our children should be treated better! Children are prizes and so precious. WELP, This place didn't look like my child would have good days there! Far as decor nothing bright for the children to see, old sleeping cots, small area where the cots are pulled out at, throw carpets on the floor with numbers or blocks on them but the carpet themselves look dirty, really time for new ones! Also there is barely any children's furniture , no real dining or eating area either!!! No go for me...Decided this wouldn't be a fit, I will past!!!! I decided after the tour to checked out their state reports /complaints, and interestingly they've received a few which were about mean teachers and lack of staff training. read more

I work for a well-funded public school system, and I have seen students across the spectrum in terms of their preparation for kindergarten. Both of our boys are Chesterbrook kids, and we could not be happier. Our older son is now in kindergarten, and his teacher told us that he was highly prepared for school, both academically and socially. He is a bright child, and Chesterbrook was able to make their curriculum meet his needs. On the other end, our younger son is 2 years old and has some learning and communication challenges. Chesterbrook has done a great job making him part of the class, and they are highly responsive when we need to communicate with them. He has made tremendous progress since he started at Chesterbrook. The staff do great work with potty training, too, which is one of the reasons we switched to Chesterbrook from the in-home center our older son attended until he was 3 years old. As an added bonus, the meals and snacks are included in the tuition, and we're very happy with the quality and variety of food. Great staff, awesome curriculum, cheerful and clean facilities, and good food. It's a total package. read more

I had just moved back into the area after being away for years pursuing my education then boom of course I had a little one! Upon returning to the area I began searching for where I would send my little one as I was very particular about certain things. I toured 3 daycare centers in the area and was most impressed with Chesterbrook Academy! The tour was informative, interactive, and very parent/child friendly. I was also offered the opportunity to bring my son in for a half day so that he could just try it out to see if it would be a good fit! I ended up choosing this facility and I haven't regretted one thing about doing so. My son has been attending here for about 8 months and I absolutely LOVE it! The staff are amazing and my son really clicks well with them. The principal, Ms. Regina is very personable and accommodating, she speaks to all the children every morning and evening, even calls them all by name! She is always willing to step in and help the teachers out wherever and whenever she can! My son's teacher Ms. Amy is great! She is very patient and kind to the children. She even pushed me to believe that my son was ready for underwear, and he was! The staff here really invests in each child and they build lasting impressions that the children remember even at home! My son has learned his name, numbers, alphabet, colors, and so much more! The center offers snacks, breakfast, and a hot lunch accompanied by fresh fruit and vegetables. My son has a few eating restrictions and he has even found menu items he enjoys that his teacher has let him try. This helps because I pack his food each day but gives me the chance to try new meals at home. The summer camp activity fee that parents dread, was also VERY worth it. There were amazing activities from, reptile shows, one man band show, magic show, snow cone truck, slushee day, and even a mini color run! I could go on and on about the amazing things happening at Chesterbrook but you have to see it for yourself! Bring your little loved one here for an amazing childcare experience, highly recommend. Unfortunately, my child was hit and shoved into a table by a teacher here. After administration and corporate watched this on video, they did not report it to police or CPS and asked us to handle it in house. After we reported it to police and CPS, the case was founded and the teacher convicted. The same administrative staff who did not report this incident still works there. I recommend doing your research on the Virginia Department of Social Services website before sending your child here. read more

Since the new director came on board, communication has been soooo much better. I get daily updates through Tadpoles about my son throughout the day. I definitely feel like it's more of a team effort making sure my son gets what he needs. I love the monthly newsletter I get now and the calendar is so helpful. The best advice I can give is to always go on the state website and read their inspection reports (of any daycare). When my son started there were none and by the time he was the latest I looked back and there are numerous reports of negligence. The issue my child dealt with was that of utter lack of communication which left him alone outside unsupervised until my wife picked him up; they had no idea he was missing. This is not surprising as a lack of communication starts at the top of this location and clearly permeates throughout the staff. All of this is after a few month back he was bitten numerous times by another student and other children were as well (confirmed by other parents) this child was never disenrolled. read more

I wonder who wrote the 5 stars review? defiantly , in my opinion not a parent. Under the new management things have gotten worst. Most of the teachers are not from the Education field, just a certificate and little training, no teaching skills. One teacher told my son repeal the F word. My son had a rash for weeks. An other teacher gave my son all kinds of hard time. Just because she didn't like him. If you are minority don't go there, because you child will be treated very badly. If you complain , the new principal will side with the teacher, and tell you please leave in a very diplomatic way. Even if you want to stay. read more

I can't say enough about Chesterbrook. If you are looking for a loving, caring and safe place for your child, Chesterbrook on Troupe St is the place for you. I have never felt more comfortable and at ease than I was at Chesterbrook. The staffs are super caring, comforting, loving and KIND. They really care for your child and your family. The families attending are friendly. The classes are the perfect size and all the kids seem to Love being there. Not once have I ever seen a child sad or unhappy there. My son was in Ms. Melanie's class. All I have to say is that not only was he happy to see her face every day - I also felt happy to see her smile! She is a wonderful, kind, loving, nurturing mother/teacher. My son adored her and LOVED being in her class. Ms. Melanie makes all her students feel like her own child. We moved to Alexandria and transferred to another Chesterbrook. If the commute wasn't so long - we would have stayed with Ms. Melanie and asked her to "move up" with my son every 6 months! All the staff are beautiful people. They all made me feel super confident about leaving my son there. This was my first day care and experience with leaving my child anywhere. They helped me though it! I was/ am going through a divorce and the whole school has been supportive and caring. They give wonderful advice and comfort to new moms like me. Again, I can't say enough about how wonderful the staff at Chesterbrook are. They care about everyone who walks through that door and treat everyone like family. read more

I transferred my son to Chesterbrook in December of last year after having been through a couple of bad experiences at some other daycares in the area and I'm so glad I did! Miss Donisha and Miss Tiffany do an excellent job of hiring staff who are both competent and compassionate. My son just turned 13 months and I started him in his last daycare center at 6 months after I went back to work and within the first two months he'd been there he contracted one really severe diaper rash, a drool rash on his neck and an upper respiratory infection. The infection was my last straw, I withdrew him from the old center and kept him home with family for a couple of weeks during the Thanksgiving holiday before starting him here in December at my sister's suggestion. Since he's been here I haven't had ANY issues with rashes or infections. I can look at the app to see pictures of him throughout the day and unlike some centers I know when they post that they changed him at a certain time they aren't just making it up. Infants can't communicate when something is wrong so it takes attentive staff to ensure they aren't neglected and I appreciate that his teachers truly seem to embrace them as if he was their child. I also like the fact that they sing and speak to the kids in both Spanish and English. My niece is also enrolled here and she's always excited to go to school and sometimes doesn't want to leave. I will likely be moving closer to the city at some point and I'll have to look for another Chesterbrook because I'll seriously miss this place. Since the new director came on board, the school has improved in so many ways. We are a military family and move around frequently. We've been in 6 different daycare centers over the last 7 years, across the US. We choose chesterbrook woodbridge simply because we had an incredible experience at another chesterbrook in Alexandria several years prior. However, we were extremely disappointed when we started chesterbrook woodbridge and really thought we made a mistake. From the administration, to the lack of communication, lack of involvement, completely dis-engaged teachers, cleanliness...everything was a disappointment. We knew the current principle was getting ready to depart, so we stayed on board, as we really didn't want to yank our kids out of another center. Within 4 months, the place was turning around and it continues to improve every week/month. The dis-engaged teachers are gone, turnover has stopped, communication is constant, engagement with the kids and parents is increasing, field trips are happening, Christmas concerts take place, cleanliness is no longer a concern and now they are building and outdoor classroom! Regina and Johanna have done and incredible job turning the school around and it all starts with the top. I truly hope they continue to receive the support that they need from their administration to continue to improve the facility. I'm so thankful that Regina came along so we didn't have to pull our kids from another center. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! In my experience there is not one negative thing to say about this school. My daughter has been attending this school for 2 years now and is getting ready to begin Kindergarten next school year. When I first enrolled her at Chesterbrook I did think that the tuition rates were slightly higher than some of the places around the area, but about a month after enrolling her, I quickly found out the reasons why. She has flourished at this school and is more than ready to begin Kindergarten. The curriculum at this school is top notch, in my opinion. The staff is amazing and I know that my child is cared for every day. I feel comfortable dropping her off and knowing she is safe. My daughter loves being here.
