Absolute Disaster!!! I hired this person for hardwood floor grinding and refinishing. Pictures tell the story. If you are looking for someone to turn a simple job into an electrical adventure, leave a mess behind, and create new problems you didn't have before -- this may be the person for you. On top of the poor workmanship, he was extremely rude and disrespectful. He attempted to connect his machine directly to a live electrical line, which resulted in damage to the electrical panel and an expensive oven showing a "Bad Line" error. Apparently, quality control and safety procedures were optional. Blamed the panel. The job was left with trash scattered around, and somehow the priority became demanding payment before the work was completed. Asked for additional $150 to "dispose" of the trash that he left behind. To add to the experience, machines were left sitting on carpet, creating another potential mess. We ended up contacting the local police. A reminder for anyone considering hiring him: do not release payment until you have personally inspected every detail of the work. Before making the deal demand full clean-up and disposal of trash. Take before pictures. Check your appliances, check your electrical system, and check that your property is actually left in better condition than when he arrived. He sealed a wad of grass he brought into the house permanently into the floor in an obvious area. He only fixed the boards below because my father spoke to him. He b!tched me and my mother out about his work. Said it was my stain choice as the issue. There's no color, it's CLEAR. He replaced white oak with hickory. Didn't believe me that it was white oak UNTIL I notified him I was talking with the man that installed them originally EDIT FOR NATE DOG. for no additional charge? do you often try to charge people for your mistakes. Admit it. You were paid in full and ditched out. Scammer. This is what future customers have in store. you sound so incredibly stupid. But don't delete your review because then i'd have to add that photo too. You didn't get an extra $500. My father spoke to you because you don't know how speak professionally. He is getting a one because he is blocking us and refuses to communicate and finish the job. I hired him to do a very large job on a new build. Did the wood flooring which has issues but now we cannot get him back as he has blocked us. Did the stair risers and they are incomplete he missed a couple of steps in the basement. Did not do the coping as promised. Next, he was hired to do stone work. Asked for a large $4,100 upfront deposit for labor. Came for a day or two did a very poor job and has now disappeared. He deserves a negative five review! Nathan Durtka is THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL BUISNESS person I have EVER encountered! You won't even believe how he speaks to his customers but i will share a glimpse of how he spoke to me 2 days after my Grandma passed on Thanksgiving Day while he was working on her hardwood flooring. His craftsmanship is extremely sloppy, inconsistent and he throws a fit when you ask him to complete the bare minimum. I sincerely and respectfully told him my concerns before final week of touch ups and he completely disrespected me more than my worst enemy would. I was his customer, referred by our mutual friend. We Both highly regret this referral because Nathan banged up his fresh paint job several times so hard we needed to re mud as well. One day, I told him to expect a plumber to come around 1pm and he leaves the house with my only spare key so my plumber drove out for nothing when I did ask Nathan to leave the keys where I hid them If he had to leave. He left a sandy mess all around my house and inside my ductwork, broke my glass mirror closet door and unhooked my 35 watt fuse to my stove to run his sanding machine and never put the wires back!
