First, for the amount this firm generally charges to create a trust, I truly expected more guidance and support, especially when it came to helping with the administration of my mom's trust so that I could move forward with creating my own trust and avoid any legal issues down the line. Instead, after the initial phone interview, I was left feeling like I had to figure out much of it on my own and actually felt more confused than before. The most disappointing part was the lack of real connection and communication. I never felt like the attorney truly listened to my concerns or made a real effort to understand what I was trying to accomplish. Toward the end of the call, it honestly started to feel like I was wasting his time because I saw no genuine effort or willingness to actually help. I also expected at least some kind of follow-up or check-in a few days after the initial call to help build trust and a relationship, but that never occurred.
