I DID ZERO STARS. We hired Brian, after firing our first contractor. Brian was supposed to be our savior, but he screwed us BIG TIME. I just paid him $28970.50 to finish our house renovation, and he cashed the checks and became "unavailable" He was supposed to order materials and finish our whole house renovation. We started with him in November 2015, and this has dragged on for a YEAR. He would love to explain the reasons why, and there are several that are stipulated in the type of renovation loan that we have. He signed our contract knowing that he was to supply materials, do the work, get inspected, and get paid from the draws on our bank. He violated that agreement by not being able to do as outlined in our contract. When I was able to provide some upfront monies, he bought some materials, but took extraordinary amounts of time away from our job. Much later, he explained he had to "rob Peter" (Us) to pay Paul (Other jobs). He will also moan about his mother's illness (which we were understanding about) to her passing months later (which we were understanding about. In the meantime, he took vacations (without telling us, and work stopped), he had things with his kids (work stopped), other jobs (work stopped) there were many other stoppages without explanation, including this most recent where I gave him the $28970.50 check and now it has been a month since the last work, and he has not returned numerous texts, calls leaving voice messages or emails. We are talking to our attorney as we speak. In June 2016, he informed us we were over budget by $8000, that became $9730. We paid him the overage because didn't want to stop progress. It stopped anyway. We had an HVAC (not his fault) that damaged the new floors and the ceiling. The HVAC company paid $1850 for the damages, and the floor was redone, but the ceiling was left damaged as is. He left a driveway full of construction debris (most of it from a job site that was not ours). He tried to but was rejected (they required him to fulfill his obligations to do the original Scope Of Work), by our bank, to rewrite the "Scope Of Work" to fit his needs. He became very passive aggressive, and most recently we called him out on a very costly lie. He told us in July 2016, when we paid the budget overages that we were back to even and that "EVERYTHING" was in line with the budget again. He told us he could proceed to paint the interior of the house, as well as the outside. Early October, we saw him at our house, and he lied to our faces and said he never promised that. We were BOTH witnesses to his original promise, and we let him know that lying to us was not acceptable, and that we would hold him to his agreement. That is when he disappeared, with our money. We will be suing him. We would like to warn anyone from working with him. He would love to explain his choices and behavior away, but trust me, you COULD regret it. We feel so strongly, that we invite anyone thinking about using him to email me at ebarryhill@msn.com, and will do my best to dissuade you. He disappears without explanation for long periods of time, doesn't return calls, is passive aggressive, ultimately untrustworthy. He took our money and walked away from incomplete house which is not livable. We will have to find another contractor, and we don't know where we are gonna get the money to finish because Wood N Dreams stole it. WE WILL PROVIDE PICTURES OF THE INCOMPLETE WORK ASAP. read more
