We have both of our children enrolled at Woodcrest Preschool. We drive 20 minutes out of the way to get here because we feel it's safe (most important), fun, and the community of other families are all very nice. My daughter just graduated from TK this past June and we were so impressed by the graduation ceremony and the strong community around her, we decided to send her to Woodcrest Elementary in the fall instead of the charter school we were accepted to. Because the classes are smaller, I feel like the kids will receive extra care and attention. The teachers are warm and kind and I feel like my children are very well taken care of. I have two boys at Woodcrest, one in 4th and one in 8th. Both have been there for almost 3 years. We left another school that was full of bullying, uncaring teachers and a lack of good education! Where do I start with this awesome school?! I previously had my kids at Chalk preschool and decided to switch over to Woodcrest to have more academics. It's true that academics are not hugely important for preschoolers, but for me, I wanted my kids to have a challenge and do more than just "day care" and play type activities all day, and I wanted my kids to be prepared and confident for kindergarten. In just 1 month of this school, my 4 year old learned to write his full first and last name, all on one line, he started mathematics, so learning to add and subtract, and he started to read! This school has the perfect blend of social, emotional, academics, and fun. Everyday my kids come tell me exciting stories about what they learned and what they did. This is not a glorified day care like most preschools, it is a legit school and I love that about it. The director, Ms. Lorryn, does it all and because of her the school is so well run and organized. We're so happy here, my only regret is that we didn't start sooner and wasted years at other pre schools. Woodcrest has me for life! read more

It depends on the teacher. My son was in camp there and perfectly happy. A few potty accidents, too "handsy" one day, nothing major. Then school starts and he switches classes. All of a sudden he can't sit with the kids because "he kicks," then it was a potty accident everyday with multiple in a day, HUGE red flag. The final straw was when I was told that my very chill and mellow child was "growing increasingly violent," but I was told on the third day of this violent streak!! Troubled by the report, I decided to pull my child. I left a message for the director and emailed, sent a message to the director and the teacher through the ap, no response at all!! Don't even get me started about when they brought me the wrong kid at pick-up!!!! I shoulda known. read more

Very disappointed with the management. Had a small accident in their parking. My wife and kid were also in the car and she also saw this person coming in the wrong way and rear ended me. No big damage the other driver agreed that it was their mistake but still wanted to check if we could get a video from their security camera so it will be easier for the insurance. Was shocked to learn that their security is on a loop for 7 days and the person who can access the video is out of the country and will not be back in 7 days. If something as serious as security is managed like this I would not put my kid in there. We luckily got the security footage from my rear cam and the insurance accepted it. read more

We were looking for an alternative for my child who had gone to one of the local highly rated public schools from kindergarten to third grade. We needed a change for a few key reasons. I was looking for small class size, quality curriculum and solid instruction. Woodcrest delivered and went above and beyond our expectations! The teachers handle the kids beautifully and maintain a vibrant intellectual environment. My child was engaged and studious even in zoom classes during lockdown. My child is socially and intellectually blossoming at Woodcrest. The class size is small which has its pros and cons, however, my child found a few friends to connect with. I really respect that this school pushes my kid, since she must study for quizzes and tests and complete homework. Students earn their grades and do not seem to be socially promoted. There are social events and an exciting science fair that so many kids take seriously and put their heart and soul into their projects! We did have a few minor issues with how some kids behaved towards my kid and these issues were totally dealt with in a professional manner. The administration is considerate and responsive. In a nutshell, what I love about Woodcrest is the academic rigor and my child does not get lost in the crowd. Knowing what I know now, I would have put my kid in Woodcrest starting in pre-k. Our family couldn't be happier with the school. My daughter absolutely love coming here she loves her teachers they have a lot of fun activities for the kids. Every time I say bye to my child she blows me kisses says goodbye to me run's and hugs her friends. Makes me leave happy and knowing that my child is in a good place. It's not possible to give 1/2 stars on Yelp, but I would given them a 3.5 stars. My child has attended since he was 2.5 years. I hope you find this to be a fair review: Pro's - The educational curriculum is fair. They have a structured routine, which includes starting the day with circle time, singing songs, talking about the weather, discussing the days of the week etc. They publish a weekly lesson plan for each classroom. - The extracurricular activities are good. For example, included in the tuition, they have a program for visiting animals. For a fee, they also have paid options, such as dance classes and swimming lessons at the Australian Swim School (the swimming lessons are hugely convenient). - The outdoor play area is nice, but some of the area needs to be maintained due to wear-and-tear. - They have an unarmed security guard on the premises at all times, which is comforting. They have implemented a coded entry and finger scanning system. However, there remains weaknesses in their security system (e.g., often times parents let other parents into the areas that should be only entered by a unique code). - Lots of activities centered around various holidays (e.g. Halloween party, Holiday party and concert (some are religious based, which can be an annoyance if you're not of the faith, such as Easter)). Con's - Poor parking! Not enough parking for the various schools and classes on a small campus. Parking attendant can be both helpful, and useless. - Meals are not included in the tuition, but basic snacks included (e.g., gold fish, fruit) - Nut free school. This could be looked at as a pro for some, but our child does not have a nut allergy and limits the choices for home lunches. - The teachers have very minimal qualifications. Often times the communication between parents and teacher is via an app, and the sentences are full of grammatical and spelling errors. (Reason we left, because it's a scary thing to think the "educator" doesn't know English and is spending a large portion of your child's day with them). - Very short notices for potluck participation, volunteering opportunities and holiday performance. As a working parent you are left to scramble. - Poorly maintained bathrooms. In one classroom, the bathroom is the pass through to the classroom. Not acceptable. - Some large class sizes. - No sense of community. I knew none of the parents in the classroom. No way for me to set-up a play date, let alone a birthday party. Would be nice to have parent centrist activities to allow parents to meet and help foster play dates, etc. Shared e-mails would be helpful too. read more

We are so lucky to have found this school. Our son has been here since kindergarten and is now in 4th grade. We will stay as long as we can and were thrilled when we heard they were starting a middle school. The class sizes are small with all the extra attention that comes with it. Our class sizes have trended on the low end through the years from 12-16. Each year the teachers impress us with their skill, insight into what works for each child, and caring for every student. My son is a kid who doesn't really care to read, yet somehow his teachers inspire him to keep trying and to have patience. This is a place where your parent -teacher meetings are taken seriously and the staff spend time to make sure you understand your child's progress and development areas. My experience at this preschool as well as quite a few other parents have very similar opinions. Unfortunately they are not favorable. From the moment you walk in the smell is awful. Let me back up, from the moment you walk in you are greeted by the preschool director, Melody. She has to be one of the most unpleasant women I've ever had to deal with. Although I know she's constantly chasing after parents to pay their child's tuition, that doesn't give her the right to walk around like she is angry 99.9% of the time. The school is aware of her nasty attitude, but continue to do nothing about it because she's a great bill collector. There is also a terrible ant infestation that they are always "working" on correcting. Do yourself a favor, spend a few extra dollars and go elsewhere. You'll be glad you did. This school has been a GOD SENT. My daughter started here when she was 3 and refusing to potty train and socially awkward with other children. Mrs. Linda took her in and had her trained within a week. She provided me with helpful tips to continue the process at home. Fast forward to a year and a half later. This is a wonderful, small school! The classes sizes are very small, the teachers are great and caring and the academics are excellent! My daughter couldn't be happier here. It is a very well rounded education with art, swimming, dance, and computers as part of the regular curriculum starting in kindergarten. There is a wonderful, diverse AND inclusive sense of community amongst the kids and parents. They celebrate everyone and everything all while maintaining a very rigorous academic curriculum. My son has enjoyed his time at this school over the last two years. He has learned a ton and grown from the environment no doubt. I appreciate all the extra classes they offer, dance, play ball, etc. However I feel these extra classes should not be as expensive and should never be done in front of other kids who are not participating. The staff has had a lot of turnover in the toddler classes which has made it a little hard for my son to stay connected and feel secure. We have three children who attend this school and each one loves it. Every teacher has shown a nurturing and encouraging method that inspires our most confident child as well as the one who is most sensitive.
