Being a working parent is challenging, but West Valley Montessori School has been a lifesaver for the past two years. I would give them 10 stars if I could. The director of this school, Ms. Jewel, is one of the most caring individuals you will ever meet. She has been at this location for over 15 years. I can't say enough great things about the owner, Ms. Sue, who oversees three different school locations. We started at one for two years and moved to this one because it's closer to my work. The Montessori method has allowed him to grow confidently, and I couldn't be happier with his progress. He is now graduating from preschool and starting transitional kindergarten. He can write his name, knows how to count, recognize shapes and colors, sing songs, and more. He is well-prepared thanks to his teacher, Ms. Hasni, who often sent pictures and videos of his day - which is always nice to see! They also provide meals, which makes my planning much easier knowing he's going to be fed, and he loves the lunch. Thank you so much for taking care of my child! Very disappointing experience with Sudeshi. She is extremely irresponsible and shows no respect for other people's time. She schedules meetings and then cancels just minutes before, leaving others waiting and wasting their time. When she cancels, she often comes up with last-minute excuses that sound very questionable, making it hard to believe they are genuine. It feels like these stories are simply used to justify not showing up. This kind of behavior shows a complete lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. It seems like she only cares about her own convenience and has no consideration for the people she makes arrangements with. I would strongly recommend avoiding dealing with Sudeshi. If you value your time and peace of mind, it's better to stay away. Otherwise, you will likely end up wasting your time and nerves. read more

My daughter is 4 years old and started attending this school in August at the age of 3. She is in Ms. Hasni's class. She absolutely loves coming to school and loves her teachers. They are all very kind, loving, and treat the kids with compassion. They divide the rooms into age groups: infants, toddlers, pre-k 1, & prek-2 class. They have a great teacher ratio.They have a schedule that focuses on play, academics, and social emotional learning. I loved their winter showcase performance. It was well put together and the kids did such a great job and were happy. I like that the school includes meals. They also have nap time. They are very responsive and they send pictures of fun activities the kids are participating in. The kids are all very kind and treat each other well. My daughter made lots of friends and really enjoys coming here which makes drops off a lot easier because you know your child is being well taken care of. read more

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at West Valley Montessori. My son was in the infant room. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that the teachers were not only kind but genuinely cared about my child's well-being and development. They always went above and beyond to ensure my child felt safe, happy, and engaged. You can tell they put a lot of effort into things like holiday events and often sent photo updates as well. The staff was incredibly responsive to any questions or requests for updates. The Montessori approach at this daycare truly stood out in my child's gross motor development. The emphasis on play, particularly with the Montessori bar, soft foam play, and floor activities were instrumental in helping my child excel. He took his first steps at 9 months old, and I attribute a lot of that to the environment he was in. It was perfectly designed to encourage exploration and movement in a safe and nurturing way. Leaving this daycare is bittersweet for us because it has been such a positive and enriching experience. If I could give this school half a star, I would either really feel the school should install cameras in every classroom if possible every corner of the building because of the reason I have notice from previous times I've been there wait for kids and realize how they treat the kids from the time they enter till the time they leave no respect no dignity, no humanity I feel the owner should realize and put more into a plan to make her school successful and behavior and educational for the reason they are a monetary and get paid top dollars. Our family moved to the area in November of 2020 which means we were searching for a new school for our 4-year old son. We met a family next door that had a 3-year old girl that would read, add and tell us all of the continents! The family told us their daughter attended West Valley Montessori so we made an appointment to tour right away. We toured and loved it so he started almost immediately. In the first week, Ms. Jewel conducted some preliminary tests to see where my son was in regards to academics. Sadly, we found that his prior school was not teaching him at the rate we would have wished because there were certain letters he could not tell us the sound of, double digit numbers he could not identify amongst other things. Ms. Jewel provided some tools we could use at home to get him up to speed so we did. My son started school on a Monday and by Thursday, he was reading basic words in his "Bob's Books". Now, just 5 months later, he is telling time, reading things as we drive past them, adding, subtracting, penmanship is amazing, and reading at a level I didnt even think he would learn until he was a bit older! I have three boys that attend this school. My oldest child (4) started when he was 18months, my middle child (2) started when he was 6 weeks old, and my youngest child (5 months) also started when he was 6 weeks old. Before I found this school I searched for months to find a childcare that will accept my oldest and middle child at the time. I wanted a school that accepted newborns, so I wouldn't have to commute very much as well as they are brothers why not have them in the same school. I wanted a school that accepted a almost 2 year old that wasn't potty trained because I am not a parent to force a child to do something if they weren't ready. I also wanted a school that my children can learn since the first 5 years of life is so important and they can learn so much. Every school I went to was about playtime, which was fine, but I wasn't going to pay for a school for my children to play. I wanted them to play and learn at the same time. A family friend referred me to West Valley Montessori. She saw how much I was struggling to hurry find a school I was comfortable with and have everything I was looking for, so I can return back to work. I did not set up an appointment I just popped up and the first person that welcomed me in was Mrs. Jewel. She gave me a tour of the entire school, which isn't that big, but for me it was a great size. She introduced me to the teachers that my children will be with. Answered all my questions and made me feel really comfortable to make me want to leave my children in their care. Within about 6 months my oldest was already counting past 10, recognizing the numbers, singing his ABC's and even wanting to go potty like a big boy. My middle child was counting to 10 and learned his ABC's before he turned one. The school also provides homework. At first I was like really homework to a two year old that's too much, but now that my oldest is 4 he can count to 100, he's trying to read, he can do his homework by himself, he can even write three letter words and even write and spell his own name. My middle child is now 2 and he is learning to recognize numbers, letters, and wanting to go to the potty like a big boy. My youngest is still small, but I have no doubt in my mind about his learning especially seeing the progress with my other two boys. It also really helps that my children love to go to school. Not only am I comfortable, they are also. They tell me everyday how much they love their teachers and friends. I loved the school for their learning and care, but I really fell in love with it when they told me that they have two concerts out of the year, winter and spring. They told me that my children will perform and me being their mom I knew they were not going to get on a stage and perform in front of people. I showed up with my children they went to their teachers and what do you know they got up on stage and sang and danced the songs and routine they were taught. IT WAS AMAZING! I literally cried of joy my first time watching them. This school goes above and beyond for every child there and I was just amazed that not only are my children learning school things they are also learning how to interact with other children and they are also learning how to overcome stage fright. My children are so outgoing and polite because of this school. I truly thank Mrs. Sue and the entire staff for loving, caring, and teaching my children literally almost everything. I am such a busy mom especially with three boys, work and school. This school helps me so much and works with me with raising my boys. I know there is some negative comments left behind, but honestly I have had more good than bad times at this school and if you ever have a situation with this school just know the entire staff does try there best to handle whatever situation may or may not occur and don't ever hesitate to speak to them they are always there happily to assist you in anyway. West Valley Montessori is an AMAZING school and the BEST choice you can ever make for your children. I have no regrets sending my children to this school. UPDATED REVIEW AS OF 3/3/2016: I regret that I must update my review, but I feel that it is necessary as this establishment caters to children. First and foremost, if your child is high needs, highly spirited, or has special needs, this daycare cannot handle your child. I have first hand experience in this and I don't wish this burden on anyone else. My child was going to this daycare for approx. 2-3 years on and off as it is reasonably priced and I thought my son was being well taken care of. As it turns out, he was not getting the care he needed. My story: My son started going here again in December 2015. (He was out of day care for a while before that as either my husband or myself were not working and we couldn't afford the tuition on one paycheck.) When he started going again, I noticed that the care wasn't as good as before, in fact, it had gone way down hill. Over the following weeks, I noticed my son would have scratches on various places on his body. I got no verbal or written reports on any of these scratches. I brushed it off as scratches from playing, etc. But then around mid February, I saw a huge scratch on his face. No one gave me any written report about it and when I asked about it before I left, they said they didn't know what happened. I even called the next day to ask about it, and Ms. Jewel, the director of this location said, "A tree outside scratched him." I personally highly doubt that is the truth. Starting in mid-February, I began the LAUSD Special Needs Education Assessment as I suspected my son may have developmental delays. (No one at the daycare noticed any delays in my son as far as I know. If they did, they never told me.) I kept the West Valley Montessori staff, Ms. Jewel, (location director) Ms. Sue, (daycare owner of West Valley Montessori and Casa Dei Maria Montessori in West Hills and I believe a third location as well) and his Ms. Barrin (spelling?) in the loop as I believe in open communication. At the end of February, LASUD confirmed that he needed special needs preschool assistance which was available for mornings only. Since I work full time, I still needed afternoon care. I asked the owner of West Valley Montessori, Ms. Sue, if he could attend the daycare in the afternoons. She agreed. I spoke to her several more times after my initial inquiry, and each time she agreed. The last time she agreed that she would allow him to stay in the afternoons was on Wed., 3/2/16. Then on Thursday, 3/3/16, a bombshell was dropped on me. I called the daycare that afternoon to confirm that my son could still go there in the afternoons and update them on the bus drop off schedule. The director Ms. Jewel advised me over the phone that my son could no longer attend the school anymore starting the next day, Friday, 3/4/16. As you could imagine, this took me completely by surprise because the owner Ms. Sue told me the day before that it would be fine and that he could still go there. When I got to the day care to pick up my son, Ms. Jewel was very hesitant to talk to me about what happened. Eventually, she claimed that my son threw a tantrum and his teacher tripped over him and hurt her foot and so they cannot allow him to stay at the day care anymore. This teacher could have been the one that scratched my son for all I know or she could have hurt him when she tripped over him. To be clear, not one person told me about this tripping incident, I was not given a report of this event, and I had no idea that there was any issue whatsoever that my son's behavior escalated to that point because no one told me. Apparently, she claimed that he acts out regularly and they cannot control him anymore. I begged Ms. Jewel to allow me a few days to find a replacement day care. She refused. In short, it was completely unprofessional of them to just kick us to to the curb without any warning like that, especially after I asked them repeatedly and each time before this bombshell, they said yes, they'd take him. Because of my treatment my family received from this place, I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone, ever. I am very active with many local mom groups and play groups, and when anyone asks for daycare recommendations, I will be advising all of them that this place is no good. Other observations: The teachers always seem overwhelmed and most of them are hard to understand because they have heavy foreign accents. I think it is very important to be able to understand people that take care of your children so that communication is clear. Moving forward, that will be a requirement for me whenever I look for a place to take care of my child. read more

Very reasonable price and offering a lot of after school program include Japanese, which is rare in valley! The school is small, but not too crowded. All teachers are nice, remember my sons name from first day! Lunch and snack are included in tuition. This school is absolutely amazing!!! My daughter has been going there for a little over a year. She is now 3 and a half years old. She can count, she knows her ABC's, she knows the 7 continents, she is learning her states, she can read basic words like van, ran, can. She traces her letters and numbers perfectly. She can color and stay in the lines. They get homework packets sent home weekly and each night she is eager to work on it. Every night before she goes to sleep she says "I am going to sleep and when I wake up I am going to school." She just loves it soooooo much!! They helped potty train her before she turned 3. She uses her manners (please, thank you, you're welcome, excuse me). They also teach other languages and this week her homework packet included Japaneses words. Each year they have 2 holiday parties. One at the "end of the school year" and another during the "holidays". It is a huge production 2 hours long at a local near by church. They have a Halloween parade and parties for all the holidays throughout the year. I love all the staff at her school from owner Mrs. Sue, to the director Mrs. Jewel and all the staff and teachers. I thank them all from the bottom of our hearts. I will truly be sad the day we have to leave them. I am just so happy with my daughters progress in the last year I had to leave a review. I had refer family and friends to West Valley Montessori who as will love the day center ,especially the teachers. They had shown me how love,care,respect and responsibility they have for my kids. Their observations and advice at our parent conference has help me and my kids be better with the time I been there. My kids progress as far manners, responsibility, own dependent as been a blessing. Want to mention their school academics are above average I seen dramatic improvement in my kids homework ethics. They have taught them the importance of priorities like HOMEWORK. What I like about West Valley Montessori School is they have the best teachers. They are high-academic teachers, love kids and good supervision. I trust to leave my kids all day here I school because they treat my kids as their own. They have really good curriculum. Once the kids graduate from West Valley Montessori, they will have high academic and gifted as well. Their training here is the best. My son has attended this school since he was an infant, for 3 years, and will continue into kindergarten. Im very impressed by all he has learned in these couple years. he is now able to read three letter words, name all the continents, and can count up to one hundred. Do not send your children to this school!!! It is tiny and the woman who runs it is awful. The teachers are nice enough but they don't watch the children well. My son came home one day without his shoe! Another child threw it over the fence and they couldn't retrieve it. My son has a condition called fibrile seizures which means at the start of a fever he can seizure. This was all in his medical history that we filled out. One day at school this happened after it was all said and done and my son went to go back to school the lady that runs the place "miss sue" yelled T us and accused us of sending him to school with a fever. She wouldn't listen when we tried to explain. After that every day we brought him to school she asked us if he had a fever and made my husband sign a paper that sayid we will not send our son to school with a fever. I would never send my sick child to school. Needless to say we took my son out of this school and he now goes to a wonderful school where the teachers are amazing and they understand my sons condition and are helpful with any questions we may have!!! I Have 4 children. My son is in the infant class with Ms. Apsara and Ms. Evelia. They take really good care of Mason. They sing and dance with him. They even tell him stories. The infant teachers are very welcoming. They are very pleasant and they smile all the time. They are very honest and very good. Ms. Apsara knows how to change diapers and feed the babies well. She is very professional but kind. I love her so much. My other daughter Kimberly is in Ms. Laila's class. Ms. Laila is a very hard- working teacher. She knows how to potty-train kids and my daughter knows all her alphabets and numbers from 1-30 as well. My other son James is in Prek-1 with Ms. Berrin and Ms. Sultana's Class. They both work well. He already knows how to write numbers 1-100. He can read 3 letter words and he can name the states and continents as well. My 4 year old daughter Abiguel is in Ms. Jewel and Ms. Linda's class. I have never seen such an advance class. She is now writing her own paragraphs, adding and subtracting thousand place value numbers, she knows her fractions. She knows how to read in a 2nd grade level. She knows all her countries, states, continents and planets. I salute all the teachers here. Lastly, I will always be grateful to the owner Ms. Sue,She is the best. She gave my kids the education that no-school would do. I am so happy. The director Ms. Jewel is on top of everything. I recommend this school to all parents who can read my review.
