12/13/2025 our server disappeared and everyone around us that came after us got their food before us. The first old fashions was good but the consistency with the second was not the same and when asked to remake they came out the same. They added something to top off the old fashioned which shouldn't be done. The server we had was MIA and we waited over 30 minutes between ordering and getting our food. Service was so slow while we watched others get attended to by their wait person. First time ever eating here and probably is the last sadly. read more

Located inside the Diamond Jo Worth Casino, Woodfire Grill is a lovely and elegant dining experience. Despite the fact that it's located inside the casino, you are not required to actually enter the gaming floor to get to the restaurant. If you go around to the side door, you can pretty much skip the casino altogether if you want. Also, even though the casino is definitely loud and noisy, the restaurant was remarkably quiet and intimate. We had the giant pretzel as an appetizer and it was fantastic. Then I had the Braised Short ribs with mashed potatoes and vegetables which was really pot roast, but really excellent pot roast, and my fiancée had the WFG burger which he said was great. A very nice dining experience, the service was fantastic, and the prices were pretty reasonable. Nothing remarkable, but a very nice place to have dinner. read more

Not busy, did not need a reservation. We ordered a couple sandwiches. An hour and 10 min later the waitress told us that our food had not even been started. She apologized multiple times but couldn't give a reason for the wait. Seemed to possibly be a staffing issue. Won't be back. read more

Absolute disaster. $34.00 walleye, crusty dark brown bad. No side so I ordered au gratin potatoes that had been cooked yesterday then cut into squares to pan fry to warm up, yuck. Its hard for me to give a real honest review of a normal night here. I was stranded nearby at the Holiday Inn due to a blizzard and this was the only place open for dinner. I made a reservation on Open Table and the girl at the restaurant said she never heard of open table. Due to the blizzard they only had two people working so the service was insanely slow. Thankfully they two working had great attitudes. They also had a very limited menu. 5 sandwiches to choose from, dessert was even limited to only cheesecake. When I finally got my chicken parm and fries I was very happy with how it tasted. That leads me to believe they have some pretty good food if I could only try the full menu. The manhattans I had were so so. But for $5 that made them taste a little better. I'd give 5 stars but really need to see the place under normal circumstances. read more

Hello I was there on 12/2. It was not very busy being a week night and it is a nice cozy place. Remember there is not a lot around. There seemed to be a lot of confusion. I was taken to my table and stood around in the main eating area waiting for the Hostess and Waitress to come up with a spot. There were 5 empty tables i could see. My waitress was the sweetest lady but i feel this evening was a difficult one. My meal came fast but my pre beer did not. The meal was the Smokehouse Chicken. Breast of chicken with a bbq sauce on it a slice of cheddar cheese with 2 pieces of bacon and haystack onions. Oh served with mash potato's. The kicker $24. It was $16 good not $28. I was expecting it to be amazing!! Good but just not there!! Spruce up the mash potato's more or something. I will certainly have something else next time! I get that there is nothing else around. And prices are probably more because of stale% and overhead. But with the prices most will expect something amazing. Thanks read more

I'm traveling for work, and had to stay at the hotel across the street. There's not much for food around here, so I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the walleye and au gratin potatoes. The food itself is quite good. Based on food alone, I might give this place 4 stars. However, I really can't get myself to give more than 2 stars due to the overpowering cigarette smoke smell. It's really disgusting. Had I known it would smell this bad, I would have just grabbed some junk food from the Kum & Go on the corner and ate it in my hotel room. Once I finish my meal, I am heading back to the hotel and using their guest laundry machines to wash the cigarette stink out of my clothes. read more

Surprisingly nice environment for such a small casino. We did not make a reservation on a Saturday, so had to wait 45 minutes. Not their fault at all, but just a heads up. Make a reservation! We had the pretzel appetizer which honestly was awesome. After that I went with the BBQ burger which was also good, but the pattie was definitely a frozen pattie. Overall the food was good, not Las Vegas level at all, but for Northern Iow I'll take it. My one major detractor is customer servive. The hostess was downright lost, and unaware of what was happening. The server was overwhelmed. My one huge recommendation is invest in some staff training. So if you find yourself on I-35 near the Iowa/Minnesota border, do yourself a favor and stop in at the Diamond Jo Casino outside Northwood and grab dinner at the Woodfire Grill. One word- WOW. Spectacular food, great service and a great environment. We had dinner Wednesday night and both the steals and seafood were incredible. You would have thought you were in a major restaurant at a Las Vegas Casino. $165 for 4 of us including drinks and dessert. Be sure to stop by and give it a try. read more

Pretentious sub par food. It seems the wait staff is trained to be rude. I have waited to post this because I had high hopes and thought my first couple tries were a fluke. NOPE, This place just is awful. First off, even if the restaurant is completely empty they ask for your reservation, if you don't have one. They act flustered and say I'm not sure I can fit you in. I have been seated promptly regardless of my reservation status every time. My next complaint is I tried to have my potatoe side replaced with a vegetable on a $40 steak. The waitress refused and said their were no substitutes allowed. I told her that was fine throw the potato side in the garbage and charge me extra for the veggies. On 6-9-19 We ordered the walleye dinner and the rib dinner. The walleye was so heavily breaded and over cooked the breading was so hard I could not even eat it. My husband had the ribs and they were luke warm and dry. We spent about $120 that evening. And will never eat there again. We had a better lunch at Arby's for $18 would do that again long before eating at an overpriced want a be upscale restaurant woodfire grille. The server was excellent. read more

I had the walleye sandwich. It was the Filet-o-fish+. I could eat it, but I didn't really enjoy it. The "steak fries" were very explicitly not steak fries. This is in the middle of no where and the casino isn't the nicest. I was surprised to find a fine dined steak house with great food!! We have been here many times over the years driving through visiting family. The prime rib is awesome and there steaks are cooked to perfection most of the time. This place is over-priced mediocre food. My filet mignon was so salty I couldn't even eat it and had to send it back. 20 minutes later I was served another over-salted steak and rather than medium rare it was part medium and part well-done (see pic). Definitely not worth the $40 they charged for an 8oz filet. And I should mention that I was planning to give the place a 3-Star review but then the manager came over and argued with me that it was cooked just fine and wasn't salted the second time. We tried this steakhouse this past weekend, and it was very good. We had a group of 27 so our reservation got pushed to 8:30 which wasn't that big of a deal but 7:30 would have been better. As a result of having the large group we were given reduced menu choices. My wife had the ribeye, and I had the fresh grilled salmon. Both were excellent!!!! We also enjoyed an appetizer of BBQ chicken bread, it to was excellent. Drinks were made well, and were very well priced. I drink Crown Manhattens, and they were $7.00. Portions were very good sized as well. Service on drinks was a little slow, they could have used one more server for our group. Although drinks were very well priced, the food was a little overpriced. All in all it was a very good experience and we will definitely dine with them again in the future. read more

Joined 2 friends here for dinner and walked away disappointed. I understand that new servers need time to learn the menu and refine their skills, but unfortunately, ours seemed to fumble and bumble the entire time we were there. No bread delivered, this had to be requested after the starters were already consumed. The chopped salad came out without being dressed. One dining companion, after two requests for a second glass of wine, finally walked directly to the bar to get one. As for me, I take responsibility for not asking, but I ordered the $30 salmon and just assumed that it would be served with a vegetable or pilaf or . . . . something. No. It was served on a regular sized dinner plate all alone looking very lonely. Nothing else, just a piece of salmon. It was grilled very well and tasty, but come on! $30 for a piece of salmon and no asparagus spear or bit of rice, or a few slices of grilled summer squash? That truly was a rip-off. Pricey. Ate there last night. Lobster bisque was excellent. Very tasty. Maybe a bit too thick for me but definitely tasty. The 6oz beef filet was very tender; a nice piece of beef and cooked to a perfect medium. No issues with the filet. The server did not provide steak knives and we started the meal using bread/butter knives. Had to ask for steak knives. Server apologized and brought the proper tools for the job. Asparagus was tasty and fresh. The horseradish sauce was too creamy, and not punchy enough. I like the more raw horseradish taste. I asked for the straight stuff and it was good. The tomatoey "our own A1-like" sauce that came with the steak, to me, was not good. It was like a tomatoey bland sauce. I like stronger flavor. I'm not very eloquent in describing flavor profiles, so all I can say is that the sauce just didn't seem to be designed properly for the beef. I've had better so this wasn't a five star, but I'll give it four. read more
