Surprisingly nice environment for such a small casino. We did not make a reservation on a Saturday, so had to wait 45 minutes. Not their fault at all, but just a heads up. Make a reservation! We had the pretzel appetizer which honestly was awesome. After that I went with the BBQ burger which was also good, but the pattie was definitely a frozen pattie. Overall the food was good, not Las Vegas level at all, but for Northern Iow I'll take it. My one major detractor is customer servive. The hostess was downright lost, and unaware of what was happening. The server was overwhelmed. My one huge recommendation is invest in some staff training. It's obvious from these reviews that this isn't an isolated issue.

This is in the middle of no where and the casino isn't the nicest. I was surprised to find a fine dined steak house with great food!! We have been here many times over the years driving through visiting family. The prime rib is awesome and there steaks are cooked to perfection most of the time. I have to admit our steak was a little over cooked this time but it's ok for the most part they execute there dishes properly! Too bad they are closed on Sunday's.

Almost half of my "medium-rare" filet mignon.

Hungry in the Hawkeye State [St Ansgar IA]…read more After taking the self-guided tour at the SPAM Museum in Austin MN we decided to skip having lunch around the area and drove over the state line to Iowa and had lunch at this unassuming place called City Limits Bar & Grill. It was 21 miles from the Spam Museum to the restaurant. We arrived around 2:45p and the restaurant was surprisingly busy, the crowd was loud, various sports were showing on the flatscreens, everyone just having a great time. The waitress was busy but she single-handedly handled the crowd and the bar pretty well. On the way here we passed by seemingly countless rows of corn and wheat. When the waitress came to our table to get our orders we asked her what is a popular food Iowans like to eat. She pointed on the menu at the Old Fashioned Fritter sandwich. It is a center-cut pork loin, pounded and either grilled or dipped in their signature batter then fried. I ordered a 16-oz Bone-in French cut Ribeye. She said there are more cattle than people and the most pork LoL! They are also known for their steak. She wasn't lying... both the Iowa-style breaded pork fritter sandwich and the steak were delicious. It was just funny seeing the humungous pork tenderloin in between the bread and made the buns look tiny. The beef is so tender, juicy and flavorful. Looks like a popular place with the locals and visitors too with its warm, inviting ambiance and friendly staff. Review #3844

One thing that stood out was how well staffed the restaurant was. Even as the dining room became busier, service never slowed down. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and did an excellent job making sure our drinks were filled, checking on our meals, and making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. I ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo with a house salad, and my wife had the Chicken Florentine (without mushrooms) along with a cup of Pasta Fagioli soup. Overall, the meal was excellent. The house salad was average but a nice size, featuring lettuce, a cucumber slice, a tomato slice, and croutons. The Pasta Fagioli soup had a very good flavor and was prepared a little differently than what we're accustomed to, but we both really enjoyed it. We were also served fresh-baked Italian rolls, which were warm and delicious. The entrée portions were extremely generous. My Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo arrived piping hot, and the Alfredo sauce had a phenomenal flavor. My wife's Chicken Florentine included two chicken breasts that were well-seasoned, tender, and cooked perfectly. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. We had planned to order dessert, but the portion sizes were so large that we simply didn't have room. For two dinners, soup, salad, rolls, and water to drink, our total bill was right around $40, which we felt was an excellent value for the quality and quantity of food we received. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend Pasta Bella to anyone looking for great Italian food, generous portions, attentive service, and outstanding value in Mason City.

You can start your meal off with a soup or salad. The salad is pretty simple. I went with the minestrone with gluten free noodles. It was delicious and I ate it all to the last drop. They also serve garlic bread with your meal. This is not gluten free so I did not try it, but everyone else had it and raved over it. I ordered the Chicken Florentine with gluten free noodles. They serve a lot of food and I was able to take it home and have a second meal out of it. It was even excellent the second day. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff was fantastic. They were friendly and efficient. The restaurant was really busy, but our waitress was able to check on us and make sure we were doing okay. The acoustics in the restaurant make it quite loud. Not in an obnoxious way, but this is not quiet dining. It's the perfect place to bring family and friends for a meal together. I'm not sure why I waited so long to try Pasta Bella, but I'm so glad I finally did. Not everything can be made gluten free so definitely talk to your waiter, but there are a lot of options.

We had a group of seven adults and a baby, and when I called late in the afternoon, they were able to accommodate us at exactly the time we desired. From the moment I pulled up, I had a good feeling. The exterior has that historic charm, and inside it's beautifully updated while still keeping the character of the building. We were seated in a semi-private room overlooking the dam, which made the whole experience feel even more special. The service was fantastic - attentive without being overbearing - and the food absolutely delivered. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, from the smash burger to salmon and rice, shrimp, steak, and even the French onion soup. Everything was spot on. And I have to mention the dirty martini with hand-stuffed blue cheese olives... incredible. Every single person in our group enjoyed their meal, the drinks, and the atmosphere. Highly recommend - this will definitely be our go-to spot the next time we're in town.
