I went back here against my better judgement. Last time I came here I had an awful experience and this one is almost worse. I came in on Thursday to get a gel manicure. The man was very kind and did what I thought was a good job. I paid with my card and left him a 10 dollar cash tip. I did not realize at the time that the price for a gel mani is $42. The man charged my card $59.83. I will say there is a 3% charge on the card but I don't believe that comes out to almost $60.... So whatever, I pay and leave. 2 days later I have 2 nails already peeling. Not chipping. Peeling. 2 days after that 4 were peeling. I came in today because I was very upset and they weren't even concerned about helping me at first. They just wanted to know which person did this which is fine and they wanted to check the cameras... ummm hello, I have the bank statement (which I showed them when I walked in) One guy fixed my 4 nails (even tho im pretty sure the rest are going to peel in the coming days) At the end, they still didn't believe me and so I showed the bank statement again and the nail tech walked away with my phone opened on my bank account. I dont know if that weird or not but I was extremely uncomfortable which my bank being open and him walking away so I grabbed my phone and came with him. They asked for my phone number and said they were going to call me once they checked the cameras. So I explained the bank statement again and showed the guy who spoke the best English. They offered my a $10 gift card to the salon and I told them no because I never want to come back here. They gave me $10 cash and I walked out. Moral of the story: make sure they cure the nails enough and dehydrate them in the beginning (they didn't do that for me) and check the prices before you pay. I loved this location when they first opened. Now, it's obvious to me they are only concerned about quantity over quality, and want to make more money. I brought my daughter (7), who was treated very well and that was great. No issues there. We both got shellac pedicures. I chose one of the higher priced pedicures and felt rushed and that the pedicurist was only doing the things listed on the menu to check the box rather than providing a good experience. He definitely didn't go a good job on ensuring he was providing quality work. When I was almost done, another employee came up who (assuming) did manicures and was talking to the employee helping me about my fingernails (which I see someone specific for my manicures and was going the following day, which I told the person helping me). I had a terrible experience at this salon several years ago. I decided to try them again. Worst idea I have ever had. This time was even worse. I wanted a shellac manicure. I barely sat down when a customer walked in and indicated she wanted the guy that was doing my nails. She was getting a full set and a pedicure which equals more money than I was spending. Got French nails done..... literally a whole side of my thumb is bare. They are messy as crap, and the lady did they in under 20 minutes. Like why are rushing for no reason, it wasn't even busy when I went it. Anyways I paid $38 for nails that I myself can do better at home. I wanted to treat myself for Christmas and this is what I get. I remembered why I stopped coming here. Got a shellac manicure for $35 and the guy doing my nails didn't even push back my cuticles nor ask what shape I wanted. Not even a "how are you today." A little hello goes a long way. It's not healthy for your nails when they use that electric filing machine on them. I came in with smooth, unpolished nails and as soon as they used that machine my nails felt weaker and rough. If you want cheap service, this is the place to go. I've been to this location about 5 times, and I have to say the service is hit or miss. Last weekend, my sister and I went around 5:30pm on Friday, and they were pretty busy. We both started our pedicure's around the same time and by the time my pedicure AND manicure was done, Edison, had not even STARTED painting my sister's nails. Ughhh- slowest nail tech ever. Ive been a faithful customer since August, because I haven't ever wanted to go anywhere else because the care and service I receive is always top notch! At first I bounced between whatever nail techs were available upon walking in and they all do a really good job rather it be a pedicure or manicure (I always get acrylic sets) I now go to Ann or Jade because both ladies know exactly how I love my nails, they can read my mind. It seems most customers have a favorite nail tech, all of them are incredibly talented! I'm difficult and super precise about my nails, probably a very annoying client because I'm always changing out for a new full set lol. This last visit I went with my gut and got the length I've wanted and Ann did an absolutely incredibly job creating a stunning set that I'm in love with. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone, if you see something you don't love while they're doing your nails they will correct it for you if you tell them! I've always enjoyed my experience at Woodhaven nails. I came in for a mani/pedi and was disappointed in the customer service, technician & cost. I always request French tips, shellac on toes and regular polish on fingernails. She said they only do shellac. After rushing through my pedicure I asked if she could make the white on my French tip thicker and she said, "too late" I need to request in the beginning because they don't do thicker tip anymore. I hate to leave a bad review but I feel compelled. I went in for a standard pedicure and a dip manicure. Should have listened to my gut and turned around when I walked in. The toe nail polish looks streaky/ uneven.. I was pressured into doing a "gel manicure" instead of dip which ended up being something called a gel-x manicure. When I questioned the process, my concerns were disregarded and I was told I'd like the result of what they were doing and it would look natural. It does not. I'm considering going to another salon to get this "gel-x" off, but they butchered my natural nails underneath so I'm undecided of what to do. The tech seemed rushed for no reason. Again checkout time ($103), I was once again pressured and told there would be a 3% charge on my card. It wound up being more like a 5% charge (it was $108 and some change, before tip,) but I honestly just wanted to get out of there ASAP. I'm super happy that I this establishment was built. I frequent the Planet Fitness gym, as well as Ulta, so I am always in that parking lot area. Leo's Coney Island was built, but then I noticed a Nail Salon was being built right next door. Yay! This couldn't have come at a better time, as I was out of options--Nail Garden has been less then stellar, and Diva Nails should be renamed Destroyed Nails. I was anxious to try this new spot. Don't let the outside deceive you: this building is much bigger than it appears. I am normally not a fan of blue, but the colors inside are calming, modern, and amazing. The pedicure area is towards the back and has many, many chairs (which are new, huge, and super comfortable). The manicure area is well maintained and very clean. Everything, down to their credit card systems, are new and modern. The other nice thing is they play relaxing music that isn't dropping the f-bomb or other explicit lyrics. It always makes me cringe when nail places (or any public businesses) play music with cursing when there are children around. Now to the techs: I have seen two and love both. The first was Nancy. She did an amazing design for Christmas that I received so many compliments on. The next tech (I think) was the owner. I brought in a picture of a unique Ombre design, and he was able to recreate it (the pic I posted was the end result). The only drawback is that they are a bit pricey. I've been coming here for a while, and I can agree that sometimes it's great and sometimes it's really really bad. I'm sitting in my car after arriving home from getting my nails done and felt compelled to leave a review because I've given one of their techs several attempts to redeem herself and she just can't be redeemed at this point. The nail tech on the far right side under the tv with curlier hair and deeper skin is not the best. At all. Save yourself the time and the guilt tip and don't do it. She rushes through her manis and it's so obvious and so bad. It's always super lumpy because she's rushing and doesn't taker her time to apply even layers. She leaves polish all over your skin. She manhandles your cuticles. Like when I got back in my car after my mani just now, my nails were sticking to my leggings because she didn't file the edges smoothly so they were jagged. I literally have polish inside of my nail. My skin on my index and middle fingers is stuck to the inside of my nail because there's polish all in the inside. I have air bubbles in the top coat. I literally knew she wasn't the best but in the interest of time and not being an a hole, I never ask for someone else but now I'm seeing that in order to remain cute with my nails and my hard earned money, I'm going to have to request literally anyone else lol. It's so bad. And she's always available because she rushes through all of her manicures. I had to explain to her that thin, even coats is the way to go. I'm not even a mail tech. Come on. I always leave a tip to be nice but I can't keep doing this. I've even gone to other salons to avoid her but always end up having to go back here because it's close to my house. And I'll get lucky and not have to go to her for a while but baybeeeeeeee every few months she's the only one available and I'm filled with a sense of dread because I know my nails are about to be trash and I'm going to leave a guilt tip. I called to ask if they made appts. They did not. I asked how long the wait was, they told me 20 minutes. I got there in 10 minutes, signed in and waited in my car for 10-15 minutes. They called me in, sat me in a seat, some guy came with all his tools, set them on the table and left. About 15 minutes later a lady came over and pulled me to her chair, since the man never came back, and NOBODY asked if I was being helped! The lady was snotty. I continued to come to be serviced by him at this location despite whatever initial irritation i had with the establishment but now i see that was a mistake. The establishment has no ethic nor customer loyalty. The owner & his workers make it hard for me to get in my preferred techs chair. They lied like i was next & that they would call but never did! Wheb I called them, they had 4 people in front of me. The wait times are outrageous & they want you to sit there yet they don't take appointments. The girl who sits beside Ken also appears to have a nice nasty attitude. I spend way too much money on self care & maintenance to deal with an establishment this unpleasant. I got shellac nail paint with a matte finish, NO MANICURE, just the paint. They charged me $32. My niece got a full set with shellac and a matte finish and they charged her $57. To me this is too much. This means they charge $27 for just painting and your nails and it's shellac. And an additional $5 for matte finish. If you take $57 and subtract $25 you get $32... so full set is $25 or $32 with a manicure included however I got charged $32 for them painting my nails with shellac and a matte finish. Ridiculous. Save your money I have bumps all in my nails too. Also I will add that when we say down my niece said what she wanted and the gentleman seemed annoyed.. they then discussed price with me and said $57, then when I went to cash out they said $60.. I said he said $57.. she said well with matte it's $60.. I said I told him matte and I got matte myself you and said it was $5 more so why would it randomly be $3 dollars more? Someone else came in an said $57 is fine.. so if you go here and you just want your nails panted is it's shellac expect $27 minimum, and if you get a full set and shellac your paying $57. First of all I would like to say that my pedicure and nails were done well and I opted for the middle of the road pedi with shellac. My technician told me the price was $116 for both and that was really the extent to which she spoke to me through both a pedicure and a manicure because she didn't speak English well at all. When I went to hand her my credit card she pointed to the front desk where I walked it up there and handed it to the gentleman to put $116 plus a $10 tip. He informed me at this time it would be another 3.15% if I chose to use my credit card. I said when I looked on the door when I came in and it said you excepted credit cards and it didn't say anything about an up charge. He proceeded to tell me that they're doing this everywhere now and then I don't get out very much, there was a little sign on the counter hidden behind a Buddha that you would never notice as a first time customer until you're checking out. I have only run into this once or twice before and they've always been at nail places and to each of those places I have never been back. If I would've been told by the technician that the price was $121 while I feel that that is steep as well would've handed my credit card I would've chip $10 on top of it and not thought much of it. To be given one price and then go to the register only to find out the price is over 3% more, no. I don't need to hear their song and dance about how they get charged a percentage from the credit card companies, they are a business that is part of the cost of doing business and either build it into your cost or eat the cost. What I was willing to pay was a total of $126. I told him at that point that was all he could charge to my credit card and if that meant taking part of her tip then that was on him. I also informed him that if I would've been charged more than $126 on my credit card that I will dispute the charge with American Express. His business is really need to be more upfront about what they're charging had I known when I sat down that there was going to be an additional charge I would've accounted for it. I would recommend Angie 100%!!! She is so meticulous and makes sure everything is perfect. As a licensed cosmetologist who is also trained in nails, I have resorted for many years to doing my own nails because I'm so picky when it comes to technical acrylic applications and the cleanliness of salons. Many salons I have gone to have failed to give me long coffin nails to my standards but Angie was amazing and gave me exactly what I asked for! They are professional and so nice to talk to. My pedicure was amazing as well. I have absolutely no pinky toe nail and somehow she managed to polish it perfectly while the massage chair (which is glorious) was still going! I was amazed.
