Super nice landlord, totally decent food, and comfortable beds. If there's one thing they may need, it's better water pressure. But this is, after all, Britain.

Would have given this a 5 except that the bed had seen better days. The gentleman ("small Scott", as he referred to himself) is very professional, personable with great hospitality skills. The man checking us in was a bit brusque and questioned the reason for us asking for a fridge and tried to give us some b/s about smaller towns in Scotland not having them in hotel rooms. He also tried the hard sell for brekkie. Dude ... please ... we are experienced (crusty) travellers who have travelled throughout Scotland. Regardless, this is well-run property. No complaints!

There is a nice park next to it as well. Rooms are huge!! By UK standards with king size bed ( at least in out room). The rooms are a bit dated, but not in a bad way. They were clean and neat. The have a nice bar and lounge room where I sit writing this review, but the real gem is the out door patio and garden. Absolutely beautiful, in fortunately is has been raining part of the day and we are unable to enjoy them. But the advertise a beer garden, so even if you are not staying here I would say it is worth a visit and a pint on a fine summer night

Blairgowrie is a lovely place and this is an awesome place to stay. Just a 10 minute walk to the town centre and the great pubs on offer, you feel very remote but with the bonus of having great amenities such a short walk away. There's also a big Coop and Tesco if you forget anything. Lodges are all self catering with extensive facilities. Owners are very friendly and will help you out if you want to go on a nice walk or see some lovely scenery. The only downside is there's no wifi available in the lodges. If they had this it would be awesome as mobile coverage is patchy.

It is situated near to a casino and a supermarket, by a main road but very quiet inside. The rooms are big! Perhaps too big, as my room felt almost cavernous with its sparse furniture, typical of a Travelodge chain room. My large bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was good, with a bath and a shower, and my stay was quiet and relaxing. The staff are friendly and with the hotel in a good location and at a budget cost, you can't argue with this hotel!

The staff were really friendly, there was always someone on the front desk that was always happy to help. on the saturday night, the young girl was really helpful, as we didnt want to go out for a meal, we just wanted to stay in, so she gave us the yellow pages to look at to get something delivlered straight to the room, most places dont usually let you do that. the room was so nice and warm, and there was pleanty of clean towels and bedding, and everything was lovely. we are planning on staying again.

This is a nicely decorated modern cottage which is well equipped, and has a real log burner with plenty supply of wood outside. Rooms are comfortable, beds nice & soft, central heating automatically comes on at night, even if yo have the log burner on. Paved area out the back with seating and table. There are no shops in the area so stock up in the nearby village shop on supply's. Very good value for money, highly recommend this place to every one. *Dog friendly *Real log burner *Peaceful * Bus stop across the road *Two minutes walk to nearest pub

I only took one picture, out our doors as the weather was amazing and many of the standard room pictures can be found on their website. For the price, I would stay here again, but honestly there are no frills with this hotel. It's merely a simple and relatively clean hotel near Falkland. The location worked well for us to St. Andrews and Falkland.

Often with these grand old country houses the initial impression is good, but upon closer inspection things are just under par. This is the case at Balbirnie. Everything was in the finest repair. The only complaint I really have is that during the wedding device the lawns were being cut, this seemed highly inconsiderate as the wedding party had booked out the entire hotel and the hotel were aware there was a wedding taking place. Aside from that minor niggle, the hors d'oeuvres were fantastic especially the cheese scones, the evening meal was also wonderful and the staff were exceptionally pleasant. One other small gripe, if I'm paying nearly £7 for a gin (Gordon's at that) I'd hope that it was a double.

We visited Balbirnie, and stayed over, when attending a wedding here in September 2015…read more Admittedly, the weather was horrible, so we didn't have a chance to stroll in the garden (darn, lost my chance to run into Mr Darcy there! :)), which presumably is lovely. The hotel itself as well as the wedding venue was absolutely amazing. The room for the cermony was the perfect setting, so extremely pretty and romantic. In the hotel, I loved the old, wide stairs and our super luxurious room (we had a "normal" double). The room had such a peacefulness and tranquility to it, and it was very well isolated - no noise at all! Had the best night's sleep in ages here! The venue (ball room) was beautiful and good sized. Loved how they had decorated the room itself, as well as the table decorations. So pretty! Foodwise, I was pleasantly surprise. To be able to serve around 80 guests that good food, that's impressive. I had the veggie version, which actually might have been better than the meat one - very unusual and I was very happy about it. Breakfast the day after was yummy, loved the scrambles - you could tell they were made with lotsa cream! The only tiny thing that I was unhappy about was that the party had to close down at midnight (hello Cinderella fantasy!). There was a small bar in the library still open, but then it was more chilling with a few people, rather than partying. Still fun, but not just the same. If I had the money, I would totally book this for my own future wedding (if there would be one) and fly all guests here from Sweden. It was such a fantastic experience for us (the bride was also really happy), and I'd love to come here again. Note to self: Make friends with some scottish couples, preferably engaged ones.
