Each had its merits, but the group vote for the favorite was the playground across from the volleyball and basketball courts. Some of the playgrounds had retro equipment, which we liked, but the seats were very low and sometimes squeaky. The climbers and bouncers were a hit and the young ones raced to be the first to try them. We even awarded special stickers to anyone in our group who visited all six playgrounds. Finding the geocache and hiking the trails, playing disc golf, doing archery---it was all a great time!

A bridge provides access to a little island with a beach, which also has nearby swings and picnic tables. A nice large shelter with more tables and a great playground with slides, swings, climbing structures, and towers is located near clean restroom facilities. We saw a number of boats out enjoying the water and folks doing some fishing. Camping sites are available, as is a dog beach.

The playground is large and great for kids of all ages, and the paved walking paths along the river are peaceful, clean, and perfect for a relaxing stroll. Watching the falls, especially after a rain or when the ice is moving, is dramatic. I like watching the swirling water around the rocks. The park was established by the CCC in 1932. It's located on a strip of land between the Miami-Erie Canal and the Maumee River. Look for the canal locks when you enter the park. I love this park. As a kid we did Girl Scouts here, church picnics and school dates. You can walk along the river and enjoy the fish jumping, birds and fresh air. Get a piece of slate and skip it across the top of the water. There are picnic tables and a few grills. Take a blanket and relax in the grass. Newer playgrounds and restrooms are along the long road. At the far end of the road is a primitive campground.

Some longer trails have picnic benches and other seating areas along the way. I used to come here with my dog quite a bit. The staff that work here are friendly and even gave my pup doggy treats when they saw her. It's also fantastic here because they have doggy bags at different stations throughout the area to keep this place clean. You'll see birds and deers throughout the nature preserve. I've also seen a lot of people take their graduation pictures because of this place's natural beauty. Over the years, I've seen that this place has done a great job of being educational with a lot of interactive activities (information about snakes, nets for observing fish, etc.). Whenever I'm in the area, this is the one place I always need to visit. Pros: -Free to enter -Free parking -Different trails -Well-maintained -Good for dogs -Educational -Beautiful all seasons Cons: -Depending on the time of the year, the mosquitos can be fierce! So don't forget to bring some repellent!

We walked the trails on the south side of 224 (around the house and barn). They're decently marked, wooded, and peaceful. (I was a bit confused by the orange blazes, since that wasn't on my map, but overall, you can't really get lost.) We also checked out the routes on the north side of 224-where there's a horse trail. We were hoping for a river walk and a bit disappointed to find the trail in the blazing sun and not close enough to the river. But, all in all, there aren't many trail options in the Putnam/Hancock area, so this is a pretty solid destination. The grounds also have a substantial play ground for kids, shelter houses, and picnic areas. There are restrooms and water and also the barn seems to always be booked with a party/reception.

The entrance we took, was right next to Turtle Cove, which was super convenient. There was plenty of parking and getting the tickets was a quick and easy process. It cost a little over $30 for the 4 of us. We were bummed the splash pad that is located inside TC was not working but still had a good time with the rest of the water park. There are two big slides (green- can use inflatable tube (single or double, blue- can't use a tube), a big lazy river, area for the little to swim, and a lot of seating. The pool and lazy river were not deep at all and there were plenty of lifeguards throughout the whole place. There are lockers after entering and wish I knew beforehand to bring change. The lockers I looked at required 2 quarters. If you're looking for a bit more than just a splash pad and a place where adults can also have fun in the water with your kiddos, this is a great place to come!

Appearently they don't know how to use their system but I showed the police our receipt and they appologized. I tried to go back to sleep and was awoken again @ 8am but this time by rocks hitting my camper. Giant industrial mowers are flying by children, pets, tents and vehicles, flinging rocks and waking everyone up. My cat was almost killed by some fool mowing at top speed. I saw the same thing happen with a family that had toddlers moments later. I paid $45 dollars to be harassed, woken up by mowers and chainsaws on my day off. This place is not worth it

Muddy but fun! My…read morekids love digging around and collecting rocks. I took them to fossil park and everyone had a great time. The park is easy to find. It has a nice pavilion for eating lunch and restrooms. There is a nice walking section around the park. The fossil area is easy to get to with many signs explaining what to look for. My kids were excited that they found fossils right away. Mostly shell looking fossils plus some pieces of coral. We each brought home a small bag of items to sort through. Since everything was money it was hard to rinse anything off there so we had to wait until we get home to see what we found. Lots of things that we still need to research. Highly recommend them adding a sluice style washing area like the gem mining setups you see at campgrounds. Plus a great playground.

Has a charming little covered bridge, a raised wooden footpath, and a beautiful historic house that has a high tea service on certain days. Check out the gardens alongside it for the fountains and statuary.
