This Japanese garden near downtown Georgetown is a nice place to experience a little nature. There is a walking path, koi pond, waterfall, and bridge. It's very beautiful and a relaxing place to walk.

This little Japanese garden was a nice find...close to main road, but, secluded enough to sit and reflect, read, draw or meditate.

Back in Chicagoland, I used to visit forest preserves and nature sanctuaries whenever I had a free moment on a sunny day. Getting that dose of nature was just what I needed to refresh on a consistent basis. Out here in rural Kentucky; well, most people find nature on their farms or country drives. There aren't forest preserves or wild animal sanctuaries. Since I moved into my apartment and winter melted away, I've been desperate for a little bit of nature. After some inquiries and a search for somewhere to escape to during lunch, I heard about Yuko-en On The Elkhorn. I checked it out one afternoon and loved it! Sooooo thrilled that Georgetown has a quiet outdoor place to walk around and soak up a little bit of nature! It's a small Japanese garden tucked away next to a semi-busy road on the north side of Georgetown. There's a few trails, a beautiful building with rental space for classes and events, koi ponds, waterfalls, and plenty of trees to sit under. That's pretty much it, but it's lovely. Very cool find, indeed.

We stopped on a whim and it was beautiful. The pond and Lilly pads (in bloom) were gorgeous. I never imagined this to be in Georgetown.

Would like to find a waterfall for elderly mother in law to see. She is not able to walk for long distance on a trail any recommendation?

The whole area is really nice to walk, if she uses a mobility device you can work your way around the park fairly easily. The water fall on the website can be reached by walking.

This greenway trail seems like what I've been looking for. Lexington is notable for having a…read morerelative lack of urban sprawl, with zoning laws ensuring that much of the city is surrounded by rolling hills covered with farms. The outskirts of the city are very pretty to drive through, but you can't really do much as the farms are privately owned and there isn't much in the way of parks or trails. Enter this paved pathway, which runs from the city proper out to the horse center. It seems geared towards bikers, which I am not, but there was certainly space for pedestrians and I saw a few others. I visited a section that ran by some university-owned test farms, and got a treat with nice views, ample songbirds, and peace and quiet. I did get mobbed by some sort of fly as it got dark; though it did not seem to be of any biting or stinging variety you definitely want to consider repellent, along with something for pollen allergies and some sunscreen. The entire length of the trail is farther than I could walk on one night, but I suspect it will be well worth exploring, as this is exactly the sort of thing Lexington needs.
