My daughter is black THEY ARE RACIST it's a handful of black students. My daughter gets into a physical altercation with a whitr student and they automatically recommends explusion. The other kid did not get suspended they made up false allegations say her face was broke blah blah blah the kid is at the school the following day. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE IF THEY ARE A MINORITY. They will do everything to ruin there lifes they don't play far.

I graduated from this high school in 2012…read more It was a great school! The campus was nice. Sometime in sophomore year, they built a new gym which was dedicated to one of the coaches. They also built a new library sometime in my junior year. Both places were pretty nice. I loved all of my teachers (I was in Special Ed, but I took some General Ed classes)! The staff there were also very friendly as well. The reason I chose this school was because my old friends wanted to go there, but I made new friends there too. My absolute favorite teachers were Mrs. Lorge, Mr. Kaul, and Ms. Uno. Sadly, the latter two retired after I graduated, but they were very awesome! I enjoyed spending my four years at this school.

This school has some really sour teachers and principal. Mrs. Louch and Mr. Holskinect (however…read morethe hell you spell his name) who are probably two of the worse. Very impatient. Very over dramatic. They both have their favorites. They both lack integrity. Mrs Louch was telling me how poor my child was doing at a parent teacher meeting and after about 10 minutes of details and me being pretty shocked with this information she starts going through some paperwork then realizes she's telling me about a different child after she hands me a paper that I alert her is not my childs. Out of touch much? Mr. H (holskinect?) Has little man syndrome only matched by napoleon himself. Very very rude to children, including screaming at them like my mom used to scream at me. Unless you're a favorite then he's like your favorite uncle. This lil man can hold a grudge and throw a temper tantrum like nothing I've ever seen before. If your child is not one of his favorites he will go out of his way to make your child hate his class and school in general. He does not understand how to be the bigger man. Maybe, again, it's a stature thing? I mean, he acts like a 5th grader and is about as tall as one. The new principal is also very dramatic and lacks integrity. Hard to take her serious when she practices less than professional behavior. She seems to believe that if she thinks something is one way then it's a fact. She has a demeaning and condescending tone with children behind closed doors. She will literally belittle and shame children without facts then try and say she has a no bully policy. Maybe she should try not being a bully herself?? There are a few other teachers that don't really stand out and are kind of in the middle of the spectrum. And a couple I just don't know at all. No school sports programs. No anti bullying programs/ initiatives. Inconsistencies with the way they treat and handle students. School in general lacks school pride. Not many programs that other schools have added in recent years. Ie... Tech programs/ computer programs. The teachers below I have either directly had experienced with one of my children having them or they were teachers of close family friends children. Without these teachers/ staff this school would probably be closed down because these individuals are the foundation and the glue that hold this place together. These are the people who aren't burnt out and who actually care about your kids future. Round of applause!! Mrs. Malone Mrs Brandt Mrs, Billow Mrs Burke Mr Guerra (he acts like he doesn't care but he does) Mrs Rhodes Mrs Mcclung Mrs Raley Mrs Barnette Mrs Crystal (librarian / yard duty) Mrs Larson Mr Bartlet Mr Higgins And the two office assistants (sorry ladies I can't remember your names) They do have an after school bridges program for childcare that may be free if you qualify based on your income. There is an avid program which helps kids get ready for college. They even take field trips to local/ surrounding colleges/ universities. They also have teachers that set up some cool east coast trips for the older kids at the end of the year (a little pricey) The school does promote programs offered by citrus heights park and rec. I hope to see some vast improvements here for the sake of the surrounding community. If this new principal is up for the task I hope she acts on it but if not I hope she leaves and this school gets a long term principal at some point so the culture and attitudes can shift for the better.

Our experience this year was extremely disappointing. When my son's mental health began to decline, I reached out repeatedly for support. Emails often went unanswered, requests for assistance were delayed, and an emergency IEP meeting I requested was never scheduled. During a very serious crisis, I felt abandoned by the very people who were supposed to help. My son experienced ongoing bullying from peers regarding his appearance and weight. Despite our concerns, he felt isolated, unheard, and unsupported. Over time, he began to believe that he was failing both academically and socially. Rather than feeling encouraged, he felt ridiculed and invisible. The most heartbreaking part is that my son experienced a mental health crisis on school grounds and later required extensive therapy and medical treatment. During that time, not a single staff member reached out to check on his wellbeing. The lack of compassion was shocking. Because of missed communication and lack of support during his recovery, my son was also unable to participate in important end-of-year activities, including the promotion walk. Thankfully, my son received the care he needed through private medical providers and is doing much better today. His recovery is due to the dedication of his therapists, doctors, and family. I hope the school takes a hard look at how it supports vulnerable students. Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported, especially when they are struggling. Parents of students who require additional support should ask detailed questions about how the school handles bullying, mental health concerns, and IEP accommodations before enrolling.

Green Oaks consistently maintains the highest API in the San Juan Unified school district. Their 5th graders even had the highest science STAR scores in Sacramento county last year. The learning is there, and students are challenged with enriching activities. When you walk around campus you see kids who are respectful toward one another and who follow the rules. Great after school programs like Choir, Dance (taught by a former Kings dancer) and piano are offered for a nominal fee. Before school, the school offers band to 4th-6th graders for free. The teachers are experienced and teach what works. They know their stuff and the kids love each and every one of them. The kids are happy, the teachers love to be there, and parents feel safe leaving their kids for the day. It's an amazing school, in a massive school district, and it's performing above the rest.
