My DIL had the Norwegian Wood and it was delicious - it also packed quite a punch! The food portions were small, but delicious. The truffle popcorn was amazing, as were the beef empanadas. First event, Simone Biles, first game, Clippers, first concert Cake. This was our 2nd VIP experience, we had a reserved table at The Pala Starlite Patio to watch the 3rd of July Spectacular. There was live music, specialty cocktails and raffles. One food kiosk was open for Tanner's Burgers and snacks. It provided a wonderful elevated viewing platform. We enjoyed the Oceanside drone and fireworks to celebrate this special year. This was our first drone show. We preferred it and chose to go out this night prior to the 4th fireworks show at our home. That said, I was a little disappointed to find out that even with a reserved table, there's a $30 minimum if you want to stay for the jazz, and a $25 minimum for the comedy. I understand businesses have minimums, but personally, I prefer places where I can come in, relax, listen to the music, and decide what I want to spend without feeling pressured--especially when I'm experiencing a band or comedian for the first time and don't know what to expect. The waitress was okay, although there were a few assumptions made during my visit that I didn't feel were appropriate. I'm glad I checked it out and experienced it for myself. It just probably isn't somewhere I'll return to. Drinks were good, I think also reasonably priced. Music went from 7pm to 10pm and we got there around 7:30 and it was good and busy! This definitely feels like a family joint, their mascot is their little chihuahua Wishbone and I love that so much. Owners were fun, kept things going while the band was on break, just overall a really good time. I'm not much of a drinker so I can't speak to the types of liquor, but I definitely was feeling my drinks and couldn't finish my 3rd. If we lived here I think this would become a regular spot for us. The Star Theatre and its classic neon has pulled my heart strings ever since I was a little kid. We…read moremoved to Oceanside last winter and over this last year we've loved driving by the theatre and have kept saying we need to see a show - so we finally did! We bought tickets for the youth production of Anastasia and dear lord, it was SO FREAKING GOOD. We both cried. The kids were freaking phenomenal! The design, costume, and talent was 10/10! We were so impressed with their passion, cohesive change of set, and from the littlest actors to the seasoned stars - they all absolutely rocked it. The theatre seats were comfy and the temperature was comfortable without needing a jacket. No photos/video are allowed during the production and everyone was respectful and followed the rules, which made for fully immersing in the performance. There were light refreshments available at intermission (chips, candy, waters, beer/wine). We caught the matinee and it finished just in time to catch happy hour at 333. We'll be back again!! If you're thinking about going, do it! The Star is celebrating its 70th this year, so a perfect time to join the fun!

When my friends finally arrived we all sat down to sticky menus that had NO descriptions. What you see on the website is exactly what they have on the menu. We had to wait to ask the server/host what each menu item meant. It took a while to get our food from when we ordered. Thank goodness for good company, I didn't clock it. The food options were limited and keep in mind for those who have children, most of the options come with a spicy kick, you'll have to explicitly tell them "no spicy"! There was a party who had been sitting for a while before we got there and a kiddo took a bite of pizza and was crying, screaming from it being so spicy. With my ramen the portions are tiny for what you pay, with 1 piece of meat, not enough noodles. Flavor wise it was spicy and bland. We ordered a couple appetizers which were not very good. The edamame was overly salty and soaked in soy sauce and the karaage was probably the only good thing and that was a little overfried. No one in our party finished our food or took any of the leftovers home. Save yourself the trip, not worth trying the "unique foods".

Lots of people brought their own food (some with full on dinners and dessert). You can buy food there also. We had lots of fun. We'll definitely come back and see other shows.
