Trying to combat jet lag we went for dinner and drinks at WOODSTONE Pizza and wine. The internal decor was cute and there was plenty of space. You sit close to your neighbors, but that's ok because they don't listen to you usually. We started with the woodfired nachos, they were a highlight with such simple ingredients. The chips were good by themselves but when coupled with the cheese, jalapeño, and sour cream you get a complete bite that is satisfying. The pizzas were amazing. The sauce on the Margherita was a zesty tomato that really took the spotlight. A simple pizza like this was truly elevated by the sauce. I got the Solare and was so pleasantly surprised by the combination that I had to take notes for when I make pizza at home again. The melon, arugula, hot honey, and cheese combo never would have been something I put together but it was amazing. Truly worth trying. For dessert we got the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and jar of tiramisu. You know both of these were amazing, so no need to waste words on them. Tips for English speaking only, ask for an English menu. It is much easier than trying to translate it a little at a time. The staff was great even during a busy time for them. All in, it misses a fifth star because some of the wait times between table touches were a little long, but again it was super busy so they deserve credit for what they did. I was surprisingly very happy this time with my gluten-free pizza. They definitely improved the gluten-free pizza dough big time. I would definitely come back again for some more yummy gluten-free barbecue pizza. It tasted delicious this time. I am also curious about those hot wings next time too. Service was average, nothing to get excited about but the food, drinks, and environment is a winner for me. Dutchman was a fan of the Italian wine. Maybe due to inflation I felt the price was a little too high for such a small piece of pizza, but it's definitely worth a few tries if you are a gluten-free fan. This was the first time I had a gluten-free pizza crust that tasted excellent. Next time I will tell them be light on the cheese and add a little more meat on there. I loved this place. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is knowledgable and friendly, and the food is fantastic. I've ordered from here a bunch of times since going in person as well. Only think I'll say is the pizza balls were really more like just bread balls - wish they were stuffed with cheese or served with marinara sauce! The Americano is super spicy but delicious. Gluten free pizza! I tried the Viola: blueberries, aged ham and goat cheese. What's not to like? I also dove into two glasses of Primitivo. I loved the pizza and wine was delicious as well. Service was quick and courteous. Had a nice view of the outside but too chilly for them to have doors open-looked like they would in warmer weather. Love this place! Been here several times and enjoyed it each time. I think it was twice when the food was 'only ok' but the rest of the times it was great! Beautiful modern decor, friendly staff, original pizza combinations. Very busy almost every day, no possibilty to reserve unless for a big group. So sometimes you have to wait, but they can take your phone number and call you when a table is free so you can browse around the area instead of being restricted. But a wait is worth it! If you fancy a little sweet snack after your main meal (as the portions are not small) they offer a coffee and mini dessert besides the regular size desserts :) read more

I went there a couple of times at the very beginning when they opened. I really liked the starters - they are so fresh and full of flavour, and I liked their pizzas. When place started getting more popular I dreaded Thursday or Friday evening in this place, you might ask why???You cannot book the table at this place for 2 or 4 people, which means that at the end of the week you need to pass by and you will hear how much time you need to wait...they normally would say 30 -45 minutes...wished it was always true..most of the time it takes more than 1 hour to get a table..and once you get it..you might enjoy your pizza and wine.but...there are so many other great places for pizza where you can easily book a table..so why would you like to go through this ordeal???I wouldnt..My suggestion to Woodstone - introduce reservation policy on Thursday and Friday and you will get some customers back:) 3 stars are for the food and for the very good service, it would be more..if it wasnt for waiting time... read more

Woodstone seems to be the most Americanized pizza place in this neck of the woods, and it does a decent job of serving a unique mix of dishes (a large mix of dishes), including pizza, salads, pastas and more. This is no Regina's in Boston or even California Pizza Kitchen anywhere, but it's ok. The atmosphere is modern pizza bar and the service is always pretty quick and good. Been here quite a couple of times and really like the food they have here! Their pizzas are more non-traditional ones (i.e. not your standard set of pizzas like four cheeses), but more exotic. One of the pizzas I really like here is the one with figs, brie cheese, and pancetta. The biggest problem I have with Woodstone is the queueing you need to do before you can eat. Unfortunately, they don't take reservations for groups less than 6 persons. You do have the possibility to have your name written down on a waiting list and they will call you as soon as they have a place. Unfortunately, every time we did this, we were told the waiting time was about 30 minutes and every time it turned out to be well over 1 hour. The one positive thing about the waiting time though is that the Jopenkerk is next doors. This means that before starting your pizza, you can enjoy some of the very nice local Haarlem beers first :) So if you do want to eat one of their nice pizzas, you either have to be very lucky with a non-crowded evening, or you should not mind waiting a bit at the Jopenkerk :) read more

They have picked up their game! I forgot about their amazing 600 cal centered pizzas! The crust was perfect (almost too perfect I had trouble cutting it. I only wish it had had a bit more cheese to keep all the superfood pizza I had together. Hummus might be a binding addition? Really want to try the Indonesian sate! I wanted to love this place. So much. While doing my Saturday market run, my boyfriend and I decided to check out something nearby using my food spotting app. I was instantly excited at food porn starring back at me on my phone. The prospect of buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto baked on a flakey crust made it an easy sell to my man-friend. What a disappointment. From the service to food, everything was sub par. It took nearly 30 minutes for our biertjes, and another 10 minutes to order 2 Margharita pizzas. All I wanted was buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto together, like I saw in the food spotting app photo. The waitress hastily told me that this combination was not possible, and that you could only select an option on the menu. Fair enough...but why isn't this an option at a pizza joint? Our pizzas were just OK, definitely not worth the money we shelled out. But I did enjoy people watching and my wine. read more

I popped into this restaurant while visiting with a friend in the city. BTW Haarlem is a lovely city and I highly recommend it. I think its nicer than Amsterdam and lacks the uncouth seediness. This place serves very good wood oven pizza. I had the prosciutto crudo which was lovely. Large amounts of very lean ham on top with what appears arugula. My friend had the Il Carnivore which is their meat lovers and it was also quite good. What really stood out here was the fact that it was not even slightly greasy and the dough was really nice! The ambience is very good and in the summer you can sit out in the shared courtyard. The menu is entirely in dutch and since I am fluent in Spanish I was able to make out many of the ingredients so this was no issue to me. Everyone in the netherlands seems to speak very good english and they are pleasant so this wont be a hinderance. I would recommend that you get a pizza here then wander over to the julip next door for the beers! I hope that you make it a point to pop in. Its central, its hip and its very very good. I came in not expecting much, because pizza's don't receive much scrutiny in the Netherlands. Pizzeria's are a dime a dozen and every place that sells pizza's gets to call itself a pizzeria. Surprisingly enough, the pizza was very good. The crust is thin and not burnt, the toppings are put on in moderation and just about every pizza has vegetables on top. So it's not just boring old cheese and ham. The truffle pizza is the best, in my opinion. The staff are very friendly and willing to help. The orders are brought within an acceptable time limit and the staff comes once in a while to check if everything's okay. A small downside are the heavily priced desserts. They're too sweet and quite expensive. So I recommend you go elsewhere for after dinner sweets. read more

Pizza restaurant in the centre of the city. They have a really diverse menu and it's well affordable. They also have healthy pizza's with a salad instead of pizza in the middle. The starters and deserts all also really good and the plates look beautiful. Once, my friend's pasta wasn't al dente and he said something about it. The personal responded very well and he directly got an new pasta (which was perfect) and a free coffee. The waitress was really glad he brought it up.
