On a few occasions the walk was MUCH less than 15 minutes (I work from home but am injured) and then money was missing. Today I was in the hospital for half of the day (he knew this) he came very late and took the note I left him off the table and left my house without walking my dog!!!! He then texted me that 'the dates are all OK in the note'....again not knowing that I was upstairs with the dog. He also left my door unlocked on every single dog walk whether I was home or not!! Also one day in a storm he no-showed and never called or texted to say he wasn't coming! Claimed later he was snowbound at a friends house! Gee was the phone in the snow too??? Lastly, three drawers were open when I got home after his visit last week too!!! Totally dishonest and deceitful. Totally left me screwed!!!!! Whatever you do DON'T HIRE THIS GUY!!!!!!!! read more

Nelson's been tending to my two boxers for almost a year and has been super-helpful. My schedule is erratic and he's never not been able to accommodate and make changes to our normal routine. Nelson, the owner, and I entered into a verbal agreement to walk our dog for 30 minutes for $15 a walk Wed-Fri. Come to find out, Nelson was only coming over and letting our dog out for a few minutes in our backyard before letting him back in and leaving. He left a form each day stating that he took our dog for a 30 minute walk. This went on for months. This was caught on camera multiple times after I became suspicious and noticed that his leash had not even moved even though he has supposedly gone on a walk. I did not confront him about this as I have no tolerance for deceptive business practices. There is really nothing to say. I stopped using his services immediately. Clean up your practice. Be up front and honest about the service(s) you are offering and the price the customer has to pay. Yelp indicates that this is a systemic practice on his part as other individuals have had issues with similar behavior. I truly hope you can learn from this and deliver the services you promise to future customers. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS BUSINESS. My fiancé and I met with Nelson to set up dog walking services for our two boxer dogs. He seemed great and very dedicated. We had recently found out our oldest pup has lymphoma and wanted to keep him active which we explained to him. We set up services for 15 minute walks once / twice a week. We thought everything was fine until we were told by our neighbors that he was not actually walking our dogs! We checked our security cameras and found out he was just letting our dogs out in the yard for less than 1 minute but still charging me for the 15 minute walk !! I confronted him by email and he lied to me and then when I told him we have the evidence on camera he IGNORED me Not even an apology (which would have went a LONG way) Dishonest, greedy, horrible way to run a business! read more

Work Those Paws always watches my two boxers while I am away on vacation, over a weekend, or even for a mid-week walk. Nelson runs a fantastic business. I always know that my dogs will be well cared for while with him. They are always happy after time spent with Nelson. And I love the notes he leaves behind about the pups. You absolutely cannot trust Nelson and "Work Those Paws" to walk you dog and care for them. Unfortunately I had Nelson at Work Those Paws come to my house for 6 months to care for my beagle puppy. I contracted him to walk my take my puppy out for potty and 30 minutes of play. Each day Nelson would leave a paper detailing what he had done and a 30 minute walk. I became concerned when my older neighbors stated they never saw him walking my puppy. I asked him several times and he was adamant that he was a dog lover and walking my puppy. I was still suspicious so I installed a nanny cam in my living room. I have a weeks worth of video showing Nelson walking in, taking my puppy out to pee, then leaving 2 minutes later. Each day he left me a slip saying he walked my puppy for 30 minutes. He is a fraud, not trustworthy to let in your house, and obviously did not care about my puppy. read more

I will never use this service again. I contacted Nelson several months ago regarding services and fees and everything sounded great. He came over for a meet and greet and all went fine. After hearing the different options I scheduled him for the overnight visits arriving at 6-7pm each evening and sleeping over with my pets until the morning at approximately 6-7am. He was also to return twice during the day to let everyone out. I have 5 rescue dogs and 2 cats. Also, one of my dogs take medication and was to be given her pill with dinner. I prepared my home the best I could for his visit creating kennel cards for each pet and labeled everything needed for their care including cabinets containing treats and food. I also bought drinks, snacks, new pillows and linens for the beds with hopes of making this pet sitting job as comfortable as possible for Nelson's stay. This was the first time every leaving my pets over night, the oldest being 6 years. I was nervous to leave but felt confident that Nelson and I had discussed all of my concerns and had an understanding. I left with my son on vacation and assumed everything would go as planned. The first day passed without any updates on my pets. I assumed Nelson was busy with all of his commitments and trusted that everything would be ok and decided to leave him to it. The second day passed without any updates as well. However, on the second night away I received a phone call at 11:30 pm from a friend who rents a room in my home telling me that when she came in through the back gate she found one of my dogs loose outside in the yard and asking me what she should do with my dogs since the pet sitter wasn't there and she noticed that on their kennel cards he was to arrive at 6pm and the dogs were to be split up into two groups and sleeping in one of the two bedrooms with the air conditioners on. During our conversation she also told me that she had only seen Nelson briefly in the afternoon once and that he had NOT slept over the evening before with the dogs and that the dogs were left in their crates all day and the entire evening. Of course I went into a panic and tried to contact Nelson to find out what was going on and why he wasn't at my home. It took several attempts before I heard back. Finally, I received a text message from him stating that he had taken on a second job in Cranston, where we live and decided to split his time between two jobs - that was it, no further explanation, apology or effort to make amends and correct the situation. This infuriated me as it was not our arrangement at all. I was left with the stress of having to search, contact and hire a capable from 9 hours away after midnight. This was the worst feeling of helplessness I have ever had to deal with. I scrambled and begged and was able to get someone to help for the evening, early morning and afternoon visit giving us just enough time sleep a few hours before we had to pack up our thing, check out of our hotel, cut our vacation short and drive home. When arriving home I found my cats food and water dish dry and empty, wet blankets in my dog kennels and that none of the medication had been given to the one rescue dog I have needing daily medication.This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a animal care business of any kind and not only will I never use this service again but I will also recommend that others do not as well. read more
