Men's room has a sauna that can fit about 3 people, women's room doesn't. If you're a woman, they might post a sign telling you to 'respect the other members'. It's a shame that there is only a sauna in the men's room, and that it's the only real justification for going here... If you're looking for a good workout, maybe consider The Pavillion or even Planet Fitness before you go and spend 35 bucks a month on a gym that doesn't really provide anything special. Maybe if the money was invested into consistently making the gym better with more equipment and amenities, this would be worth the tag, but for now, it's not. I canceled my membership thinking that it would allow me to finish out my month, but it didn't. If you have extra money to blow, save it...

A new expansion just completed in September 2019 to add a functional fitness area in the back as well. Not only is it the best fitness option but the price is very reasonable. There are a couple of reasons for taking away a star though. Through no fault of their own, it can be VERY crowded if you plan to go around 4:30-7 as that is when most of the after work crowd is there. Some of the equipment needs to be better maintained, particularly the spin bikes. If you are someone who is very regimented, be aware that the group fitness schedule changes regularly. That can also be a good thing though to change up your activities.

The coaches there really implement a certain level of attitude as well as discipline for the gym and that's what separates this gym from all the other ones. The bathrooms are much fancier than most gyms I've seen although the men's is much larger than the women's which leads me to believe that their regular student population is more male heavy than the crowd at the seminar was which drew a lot of women. Not a negative just something to be aware of. They have a very nice large training floor and plenty of benches and hooks to leave personal belongings. Over all I enjoyed the seminar quite a lot and if I'm in the area again I would definitely consider stopping in for a regular class.

I showed up around 6 a.m., and the place was nearly empty except for one trainer (Patrick) working with a client. Right away, I could tell this wasn't just another gym. WHAT A FACILITY. I was blown away by the cleanliness, the layout, the equipment selection, and honestly the overall vibe. The hospitality was next-level. It felt like walking into a place where people genuinely care about what they're building and who they're serving. If I were still in collegiate athletics, I wouldn't want to train anywhere else. Whether you're a competitive athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone just trying to get better every day, I'd recommend KYnesis without hesitation. She leads honest flows that leave you feeling open, connected, and grounded. I appreciate the individual attention I receive during my practice: ranging from hands on adjustments to ethereal, grounding touch. Monday's Vin to Yin restores and reignites. Thursday's Form and Flow Level 2 rejuvenates and strengthens. Friday's Fun Flow brings yogis together for wine and conversation post-flow. Every class has something to offer all beginner, intermediate, or advanced yogis. Non-judging and full of lovely humans, Solid Roots have become home away from home. The gym has loads of equipment for all different types of training like free weights, treadmills, machines, and is spaced out fairly well. The only downside with the gym is sometimes it will get too busy and there will be a wait time for machines, but there's loads of different variations if you need them, other than that it is amazing. The recreational center has more than the gym itself, it also has exercise class rooms like cycling and zumba, multiple basketball courts, an indoor track, and even a rock climbing wall with staff to help newcomers. Overall this center has something for everyone and I have personally loved my experiences here. I would positively recommend this space to anyone looking to meet new people or just fill time in your day.

It's a great way to get my head off the stresses from school and meet new people who have similar interests to myself. The faculty have all been nice from what I've seen and interacted with. It's mostly college students here at Kentucky. Most of the negative online reviews focus on the gym's layout, which is next to the basketball courts, and I would have to agree that this is probably the gym's weakest point. I don't like that there are two floors to the gym and that it is so crowded. But if you go at the right time, I'm sure it's similar to every gym. Other than that, there aren't many negative things I could say about it. I've enjoyed my experiences so far and plan to keep going to the Johnson Center in the future.
