I can see it becoming my fitness 'home' for years to come…read more I've been a member of countless gyms, attended countless classes, tried different running apps on my phone, etc. etc. and yet, through all of that, I couldn't discipline myself to stick to a steady routine. Sure, I'd go to the gym for a few months, but then life got in the way and I'd cancel my membership, only to go join another gym several months later and do it all over again. I haven't been a member of any gym since I moved to Kentucky because there aren't too many options close by. Then back in January of this year, my husband and I found out how to become members of this fitness center and took the steps necessary to do so. If you are a Toyota employee, you can join this gym. If you are a spouse of an employee, you can join the gym. If you are a contractor or just a random person who wants to join the gym, you need to find someone that is currently a Toyota employee who is willing to 'sponsor' (vouch for you) your membership. I believe an employee can only sponsor one person. This is the route we had to take. When you sign up, you get five free training sessions -- which is AWESOME. I had Sara as a trainer -- who really listened to me and helped me come up with a plan to get my butt into shape. Merely two weeks into our training, I was already noticing a huge difference in myself -- how awesome is that? That just pumped me up even more. My husband's trainer (Wade) kicked his butt too, in a good way. We both loved the trainers we had. Let me tell you -- if you are not good at motivating yourself, getting a trainer is a fantastic way to push yourself to see results. This is what I had been lacking all those times I joined other gyms. We even signed up for a few paid training sessions after our free ones were used up. During the year, there are different sports leagues you can join. The center also has outdoor tennis courts, sand volleyball, baseball fields, and a nature walking trail. Oh -- and the best part? Lots of classes!! Yoga, weights, cardio, etc. The gym is pretty much open 24 hours except for Sundays and with special hours during holidays and Toyota shutdown weeks. It kind of became my second home.... I grew to see the same faces each time I worked out and looked forward to a session of strength-training. I got stronger, yo! Unfortunately, I canceled my membership a few days ago due to unplanned life events and tight finances. The $20/month membership fee is not expensive at all (in fact, it's kind of amazing considering that it covers the 24-hour gym, childcare, and all classes), but I'm at a point where I need that.... so once I get back on my feet, I'll rejoin this fantastic gym!

My doctor recommended that I work in sauna time to lessen inflammation, my PT recommended I do yoga (since I'm not super accountable about doing my at home exercises and stretches) and both of them recommended I work on my mindfulness and lowering my stress levels. So, I decided to try and do all three at once with Sterling classes. Not only are there a multitude of types of yoga offered (I typically do Vinyasa, Sterling 60 and Hot Pilates) but classes are 7 days a week with enough time slots that even the busiest of us could find a couple a week that would work. One thing that held me back at first was the fact that I had never done yoga prior to signing up here. I was worried about looking foolish, not knowing what to do and not getting much physical fitness improvement, so I put off going for a long time. For those of you that feel the same, let me put you at ease: 1. Every single instructor has been incredible. Personable, friendly, knowledgeable, they really know what they are doing. Throughout class they keep up a solid flow of instruction on poses, breath work, mindfulness and encouragement. 2. I was really worried about looking dumb in front of other participants...no sweat (pun wasn't intended, but I'm leaving it in ). Everyone is so fully focused on their own poses and breathing to pay attention to what people are doing around them. Everything is at your own pace, so no matter where you are in life, these classes can be a huge benefit physically. Just from the stretching and flexibility from Vinyasa and Sterling 60 I have been able to cut back my PT visits from every week to every 2-3 weeks. 3. As far as the the other participants...everyone is happy to be there. When you walk in the door, you can tell there is just a general spirit of positivity and welcome, it's really uplifting. If you're hesitant to try it out, they run a great special for your first month, and you can go to as many classes as you'd like. I could go on and on about it, but you should come see for yourself. It's truly made a huge difference for me physically and mentally; I encourage everyone, from any background, to check it out!

After not climbing for over a year, I decided to put on my climbing shoes again and check out LEF…read moreClimbing. It has a spacious interior with a variety of routes for bouldering, top rope, auto-belay, and lead climb. The walls are much taller than other gyms I've been to and make the routes much challenging. Some of the grading doesn't seem very consistent. Staff is nice. Kids and adults of all ages are welcome. It's definitely fun to experience it at least once! The day pass is currently $30 per person with all gear rentals included. No price reduction if you bring your own gear. The membership cost is hefty, $100 per month or $80 if prepay... that's close to 1K per person at a minimum. One membership bonus is that all classes are free. If I resume climbing on a regular basis, I might consider shelling out some $$.

The staff were very friendly and detailed on how to get prepared for climbing the wall with the harnesses and also the ins and outs of each level of difficulty. My son loved climbing, as this is definitely his wheelhouse, but not necessarily mine lol. There were numerous walls to climb with the ropes/harnesses utilized and other boulder walls with a harness or rope not used but with a padded flooring under the ways. There is a wall for each level of climber from beginner to seasoned. If you want to try something new or get more practice on your skills, LEF is perfect for you! We will come back soon!

I love Creative Yoga. Why? My class today was taught by Brooke. She starts each class asking if…read moreanyone has any any request for any body parts? Injuries or soreness they want to work on and she will work into the class. She reminds use during the class Yoga is mind, body and soul. She ask we clear our minds during class and if it drifts try to bring back to our individual purpose of our time on the mat. Breath is everyone breathing she jokenly ask. She brings clearing our minds, focus on our breaths speed and deepness, controling it. Our bodies are individual and modify the position if needed. Do what you body is telling you. She does the position with us demonstrating. I love the wet semi frozen small towels towards the end. This small reward for your mind. body and souls work. Brooke does a great job, she is excellent. I wish they offered power hour every morning as I love starting my day with hot yoga, but I'll take what I can get. It's a nonjudgmental atmosphere, which I need because I am terrible at yoga. The studio stays hot and you definitely work up a good sweat, but it's not suffocating at all. Make sure you bring a towel, plenty of water, and your own mat. They do rent but at a cost.
