With asperations of auditioning for musical theater productions, these were serious issues to be rectified. It is beyond my comprehension how Lindsey was able to train Ari's ear to sing completely "on pitch" and alleviate the less than musically attractive nasal tone. Eleven years later, my son has his own band and is highly regarded by his bandmates for the wonderful quality of his voice, as lead singer. And what about the nasal tone? I am no longer aware of it, in spite of his spring allergies!!! Lindsey is an incredibly perceptive and "person-centered" voice teacher. Though Alison is a performer and a teacher, I chose Alison Rizzuto because of her voice therapy background. I figured that her knowledge of vocal physiology would be an excellent resource to help me understand what was happening inside my body as I sang. And I was right, she knows a lot! Alison's background in classical, musical theater and operatic singing was starkly in contrast to my folky "conversational" style as she called it. But it was a benefit for me. I enjoyed the challenge of singing with proper technique that also helped me expand my range, control my breathing, project and build confidence that I was on the right track. Since singing requires no physical instrument (like a guitar) to buy and learn, we sometimes feel it's easy. And to a certain degree it is.
