I frequent many businesses in the Coachella Valley and often leave reviews about them. Both good and bad. I took my guitar to Repair Land after another local musician told me it was the only place in the desert that worked on guitars. I later learned that wasn't true. When I walked into the shop, it appeared more like a personal living space than a professional repair facility. I left my guitar for service and, when I picked it up, I was disappointed to find that very little seemed to have been done. The issues I brought it in for were largely unchanged, and I felt that the quality of the work did not justify the cost or effort. After that experience, I attended the guitar festival on Miles Avenue in Indio and spoke with several musicians and vendors. To my surprise, a number of people I spoke with did not recommend Repair Land and shared their own negative opinions and experiences regarding the business. Because the owner has publicly claimed to work on a very large number of instruments each month, some of us became curious about the level of activity at the shop. A vehicle equipped with a camera was parked on the public street nearby over several days, and based on what was observed during that time, there appeared to be very little customer traffic coming and going. Obviously, everyone can draw their own conclusions, but between my personal experience, the feedback I heard from other musicians at the guitar show, and what I observed afterward, I would not trust this shop with another instrument. I would strongly encourage musicians to explore other repair options in the Coachella Valley before making a decision. read more

Jayce isn't the only person or shop that fixes and works on musical instruments in the Coachella Valley but he is without a doubt the only person I'm trusting with my guitars and other stringed instruments. He's not a big box store but a local that lives and operates his own business. Neutral. You may find a listing that says this place is open on Monday until 6pm. I am in front of the shop at 5pm and it is dark and locked. So I called the number painted in the window. After a long time ringing I got a recorded message that listed what the place was and what they do. Eventually it got around to mentioning that the shop is closed on Mondays. This is the only way I was able to get this information, so let me save you the trouble of finding this out the hard way as I have. read more

This gentlemen made me pay upfront and then decided to take his own creative liberties on my guitar repairs without consulting me. I had to correct his liberties on my own, which cost me time and money. He didn't even do what I asked him to do. He gave me a specific day It would be ready I went there and he says it wouldn't be ready for another week, poor communication and time management skills. I drove clear across the valley twice; is he gonna pay my gas? I have never in my life paid upfront for guitar repairs. In the 41 years of being a part time guitar tech myself for various VIP's I would consider him subpar and unprofessional. Very disappointed. It's possible he might be on the spectrum; If that's the case I'm glad I was able to help him out, but I will not be returning. I somehow scored an an older solid mahogany Hawaii-made ukulele on offer up at a reasonable price but the fret ends were sharp due to the desert dryness and its long term effects on tone woods when solid wood instruments arenʻt properly stored and humidified. Took it in to Jayceʻs workshop and on the spot he got to work and expertly cleaned up and smoothed the fret ends for a permenent fix at a reasonable cost. It feels good to support local businesses and craftspeople. read more
